  • Wow! An amazing little kid - best of luck to her. Plasticity - that is the key word here...

Many people operate on 1/2 a brain when they don't have to - some are even in Congress...

They didn't really show if she could move her left arm. It is suspicious because she was kind of playing with it, and moving it with her right arm. It is nice that she recovered as well as she did though. Even controlling the MOUTH is a big accomplishment. You can see that throughout. after the surgery, she obviously had bells palsy, and in the interview, the mouth seems normal.

It is sick that so many brain surgeries are done for something that SHOULD be relatively simple. Fixing some sort of short. This experiment isn't even as uncommon as it should be, but most remove only a small part Of course, THIS one was more complicated than that since her body was effectively destroying that part of her brain.

I love how the expert was supposed to explain the cause of rasmussen syndrome, and explained the cause of seizures instead. Based on the name and description in wikipedia, rasmussens syndrome is also called Rasmussen's encephalitis, and is a localized destruction of the brain cause by inflammation of it. So, in this case, it was the right side of her brain. Since there is no mechanism controlling that, obviously the separation of neurons, and myelination would be destroyed, causing shorts, and the seizures.

What's the news? Our Congress has been living with 1/4 of theirs for decades.
