Free State government spends R140m on $40 theme driven Wordpress website | Factor Three Creative

The Free State provincial government spent R140m on its website, which is a WordPress site with a template bought from Themeforest for $40. Londonlive Theme vs. Free State Website
Free State director general Elzabe Rockman signed a three-year contract to redesign the website in 2011, but as experience WordPress designers we would estimate this website to take a maximum of 5 days. The site has no custom features and the template features have only been used.

    That converts to $15,402,800.00 USD

If they had asked me, I would have done it for $10,000,000

I wonder if that's one of the African countries that are receiving aid from the US? If so, I suggest they go take care of themselves, I obviously need my money more than they do.

Man, that is sick. Their moto has even been what I hae been saying about diversity in the US. It did NOT come about because of diversity, bur "UNITY in diversity". YES, people were dierse, but they got together, tried to respect others, and worked as one. IRONIC that they should pick that motto.

YES, this s the SAME place were we boycotted their GOLD to try to end apartheid. Remember the kruggerand? Buy Gold Online | Buy Gold Krugerrand Coins | APMEX.com

BTW they haven't been perpetually in poverty. SURE, some parts ARE, because they were considered outside the area, and apartheid, etc..., but the COUNTRY? NOPE! MY GOD, they had an ongoing success with one of only maybe 5 gold coins that were popuar in the 80s, and may still be. That puts them rght up their with china, australia, canada, and MAYBE, the latecomer to the party, the united states! The fifth was the south african kruggerand.

No wonder they are perpetually in poverty... Millions on beyonce, millions on word press templates... Somebody needs to jump in and start managing their money.

All i can tell you is that this happens all the time, it's Africa, probably the most corrupt continent on the face of the planet.
There are Gov officials with no formal education not even a High school diploma, nepotism is rife in the African system. Every time i had a problem that needed to be addressed it cost money, there were a handful that i dealt with who were actually doing their jobs without their hands out.
That's just the way Africa works.

I think it happens world wide though, maybe not as widespread as Africa...
