External backup trouble

I backed up my Windows laptop onto an external drive, then from a Mac laptop I backed up some files on the same device. Now I can't access the drive at all from Windows, it won't recognize it. I no longer have access to a Mac to get the Adobe files that I want to transfer to the Windows laptop.

Is anyone familiar with this problem? Is there a way to fix this?

I had that problem once, but you WON'T like the answer!!!!!!!!

SOME drivers CACHE data, and write it when you dismount(LOGICALLY eject the drive). I once forgot, and PHYSICALLY removed the drive first. The device was CORRUPTED! Logically, there is NO way to recover 100%.

I have the same fate with you, I wrote this pages of pages of text for my online story then then when I transfered it to my computer sad to say I lost the file and I tried lots of software for file retrieval but then I am unable to get anything. And I have no back up files.
