PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS BEING POSTED FOR HISTORIC, NOT POLITICAL REASONS.

This is a copy of the speech that JFK was going to deliver in Dallas on November 22, 1963.

That man is probably rolling in his grave. All the technology he saw being a guardian of freedom is now being used as tools for tyranny.

Security - used defensively builds freedom. Used offensively and premptively , it becomes oppression.

It IS ironic. I heard the speech was a certain type, and this seemed mostly to stray from that. But movies have SCREAMED how dangerous this stuff is!

The NET? 100% *****POSSIBLE***** and downright PROBABLE! 60minutes(IIRC) recently spoke about one REAL case, effectively having trojans to steal money/power! And ENRON did it also. Of course, ID theft is RAMPANT!

Terminator? OK, maybe 70% POSSIBLE and downright likely. I have heard of people DYING, or getting maimed by a glitch. Did the machines revolt? NOPE! It was just a careless error. Such errors are COMMON in the government though.

WARGAMES? Well, that was supposedly a dramatization of a true story. Did such dialers exist? YEP! Did such passwords exist? YEP! Did such workers exist? YEP! Did such hackers exist? YEP! Do such backdoors exist? YEP! Could such things start a war? YEP!

So, with so much REAL stuff to worry about, do we really care if computers will ever get sentient?

HECK, even the idea of "office space" is real! I once wrote such a program! A bank had to calculate proportionate distributions to investors. That was impossible, since values went to five decimal places. SO, after calculating the distribution, the accumulated error was added, the number was truncated, and a new error was calculated. This meant that some people got like a penny more than they should have, and others suffered a truncation. The officespace plan was IDENTICAL, except that they created their own account, and put all the errors into that account.....

12.14512 becomes 12.14, and the error is .00512
11.13499 becomes 11.14, and the error is .00011, etc....

IMAGINE if you had 100,000 people! You could make almost $999 every period!

Thanks for that Alfred E., JFK was a pretty smart cookie.

I have a personal connection to JFK.

My Dad was NCO communications for Air Force One, and he normally would have been with the Presidents Plane when he flew. However, Little ol me was born at Andrews afb 3 days earlier, so Dad took a few days off.

Dad did have his mark in history though,He was present on Air Force two when LBJ was sworn in.

Dad never talked much about either man, or his time working for their administrations. Funny thing is , he is a lifelong republican.

If he ever chose to write his memoirs, they'd make fascinating reading.
