I've been watching that too. What struck my interest is I noticed that was a no win question. She either would have pissed off the conservatives, or she pissed off the liberals.

The only winning move would have been not to answer the question directly, but I doubt she has had any training or practice answering the question like a politician, under that kind of pressure on live t.v. being viewed by millions.

I think she was cheated as well. She provided her opinion and was hammered by it. She's received a lot of negative publicity from it. Her not accepting gay marriage is not as bad as the gay community FORCING her to accept gay marriage. She's being hammered for living with her beliefs yet people get offended when the gay community forces us to accept them. We have a right to support whatever we want, we shouldn't be forced to accept something we don't believe in. Was she cheated because she voiced her opinion as asked, in my opinion, yes.

Terrible question and who cares about hollywood? They suck. Just because they are famous they think their opinions are worth more than anyone else's. No, so wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Too bad she was treated so bad for being honest. Was definitely a no win question. Who let that Perez on the panel anyway.

Why cares about hollywood? Ask the million+ people that are following ashton kutcher on twitter where most of these people are posting their opinions about her.

I think Kay hit it on the head when she said Miss California's answer was incoherent.
It was a typical blonde bimbo answer,which ,in my opinion, is why she is getting knocked,deservedly so, all over the place.
I must say I don't have a clue who won,as I don't pay attention to this kind of drivel, but her answer was all over the news.

While I certainly won't pass judgement on her for stating her beliefs but there are tons of different ways that she could've answered that question without pissing off anyone who is gblt. Say something about how it's up to how the people vote (hello - CA voted no on Prop 8?!) etc.

Ms. California answered the question exactly as I would have. I have nothing against gays. It's not my place to judge, but I was brought up with the idea that a man should marry a woman. And men, (very hunky, tall, sexy men, I might add, is my preference :-) What's wrong with that? I have a best friend who's openly gay and I respect her for who she is.

I can see if her answer was degrading in anyway. But, to me... it wasn't. In fact, I thought it was very respectful to those who weren't brought up with her same values.

Why is this even an issue? Because Perez Hilton says so? Who made him King of Sheba?

Oh well, I guess you can't please everyone and neither should you want to. Ms. California is going to get waaaaayyyy more publicity than the lady who won anyway.

Instead of some correct, rehearsed answer.. she gave an honest opinion.. and she gets shit about it.

Yea, it's really unfortunate what happened to her... and now she's basically being demonized by many in Hollywood. And who is this Perez guy, anyway? I guess after the show he immediately blogged how he gave her zero points because she was a stupid b****... Trump should apologize for this creep and make sure he never works in his pageant again.

How is this question any different from others where judges give candidates less points because they don't like the answers? It's not like there is a right or wrong answer. They know the rules: Judges give points based on opinion. One or more judges didn't like her answer. End of story.

She obviously made a mistake in judgement. It's not necessarily what her personal beliefs are, but how she demonstrates tact or lack thereof. Like it or hate it, unless you want to always face firestorms, there is a time and place to state your personal beliefs and a time and place to circumvent such questions.

I GUARANTEE that Perez would NOT have accepted NO answer! She had to LIE, or tell the truth! She told the truth in about as tactful a way as anyone could. GRANTED, I am not tactful HERE, but I know it when I see it, etc... If asked TO MY FACE, I will generally try to almost IMPLY I agree with them without doing so. Sometimes I actually let it drop, or redirect things. Of course, on a subject like this, I wouldn't dare to be so unclear. And Perez would either not accept such an answer, or judge it "his" own way.

HECK, one of my favorite anecdotes(TRUE STORY) is how I told a group that the medical industry was STUPID for claiming they would have a cure for AIDS in 5 years! I told them it would probably take over 20 years before they got close. a guy came beside me an asked if I was a doctor. His voice made it CLEAR he was homosexual! I thought OH BOY! I said "NO, but..." and listed all the FACTS! HE did something AMAZING!

1. He said HE had AIDS!
2. He said that he was AMAZED that I was so dead on correct.
3. He and I were friendly towards one another, like straight friends, not to imply anything else.

He later told me of a "cure". I told him that EVEN if the theory were right, and worked 100%, the disease would stay in the nervous system, etc... couldn't be removed, and would just continue. I was right. He eventually died of AIDS. Here it is almost 30 years later and NO CURE! The IDIOT that should have been THROWN IN JAIL for essentially a pump and dump scam, eventually DID recant and say it would be DECADES before anyone would find a cure. DUH!

But HEY, I wasn't tactful, and a number of people, INCLUDING ONE DYING OF AIDS, liked me more for it.

I'll state my take on it. Unifying through common hatred of a group, for whatever reasons whether real or imagined (probably mostly imagined), has been effective in the past. It is taking place now. Many people do things that others may find vile such as smoking or eating shrimp, and some may favor discrimination on such grounds.

I shouldn't be speaking for Steve, and am not trying to,but it seemed he was just making a statement that in that peticular instance he was able to tell,and that in fact the speaker confirmed it.

I used to work for a couple of guys in the 70s that I didn't realize they were gay till after I had worked for them for quite a while. Of course, I was pretty naive back then,but they did not exhibit the stereotypical indicators.

While I believe everyone should be able to be 'free' and do whatever they want unless it hurts somebody else (literally), I am sick and tired of these fascists persecuting people who do not happen to agree with them.

I am sick of 'special interest' groups shoving things down our throats and FORCING us to accept their ideas.

Right now they are holding up legislation that is badly needed by the MAJORITY OF CITIZENS to pander to the fascist special interest groups - even including those not even citizens of this country that are here illegally -

I understand persecution, hate crimes etc are not fair, but nobody can FORCE anybody to think they way they do and they are effectively taking away OUR rights to speak freely about what WE believe without being persecuted.

Yeah, it is supposed to be talent, looks, and hopefully some intelligence, NOT politics or sex. And there IS a MORALS clause generally, so they shouldn't even be ASKED such a question. It is technically a breach of contract. HECK, if they pose nude, or in some way questionably they can be, and HAVE BEEN, STRIPPED of ANY prize.

Michael has a good point. Perez CLEARLY had an agenda that BREACHED standard contract policies, and thought that was germain. That ALONE ****PROVES**** he was INCAPABLE of being a proper judge. GIVE ME A BREAK!
