3D Printing as a home business

I saw that there were a few discussions on this subject, but they were all 2012 and a lot has changed in the world of 3D printing since then.

Is anybody else out there using a 3D printer in their home business. I have a relatively simply Makerbot which I use to make items for sale on eBay, but I am also printing off the parts to a new and upgraded printer at the same time. I am soon hoping to move up to a much faster Delta style printer.

As I mentioned in one of the older posts, a good example I have seen recently on ebay is 'longboypeter.' Even though he has only lately moved into 3D printed products, I see that he already has almost a hundred completed sales in the last two months. At the moment he is focussing on just two main products, cookie cutters in the shape of a Dr Who Tardis and a Dalek, designs for both of which can be freely downloaded from thingiverse.com. Both are selling in the 5 to 30 dollar range, which is great because his raw material costs are just a few cents per item. If you dig around a bit you can find more and more ebayers that are selling 3D printed products very successfully.

In an attempt at full disclosure, I have already written one ebook on this subject and am now working on another, due to high demand. Even so I am more interested in hearing about other warriors using their 3D printer to make money, rather than promoting my own work.
