I'm not sure why I suddenly came upon this group. Crabby Appleton did have a top 40 hit in 1970. What do you think?

They broke up after their second album, the cover of which struck me as the embodiment of bad marketing, lol:

Maybe bad marketing, but on the other hand, back in the early seventies, an eaten apple down to the core was "cool", sort of like a fad thingy, a pop culture type of thing.

I had a matching necklace and pierced earrings of an apple core when I was in the 5th or sixth grade and my mom had one on her key chain if my memory serves correctly.

Haha! No they weren't, lol! They were white/off white, the whole thing. The red was apple red, not brown. No rotten parts.

I wore out both sides of that 45 as a youth. Here's the "B" side of Go Back:

I knew that name sounded familiar.
But, not as a rock band.

Had to look it up but it goes directly to my cartoon trivia thread which opened with the Tom Terrific theme.

The villaneous Crabby Appleton, who was 'rotten to the core', was one of the bad guys on 'Tom Terrific', the CBS-Terrytoon cartoon serial most people remember from the Captain Kangaroo show of the 50s and 60s.
    'My name is Crabby Appleton,
    I'm rotten to the core
I do a bad deed every day,
    and sometimes three or four.
I can't stand fun for anyone,
I think good deeds are sappy,
I laugh with glee, it pleases me,
    when everyone's unhappy!'
