I'm new, and want some input on an idea.

Like the title says...I'm new to this forum, I'm new to the ideas and I'm new to this whole thing to be completely honest.

But, I have an idea. And seeing as though you people seem experienced and have half a clue, I'd like to share my idea and have any input/thoughts on it.

I sell things, to customers I have built relationships with, It's not my business, I work for a multi-billion £ company in the UK, but I have customers who will only deal with me, I have sales strategies and logical thinking and reasoning on how to improve my customer base, get them to spend more, tips on cold calling and tracking any progress, how to get out of sticky situations and just generally enjoy the job your doing.

My aim is, to write a book, of decent size, but not include EVERYTHING I know, put it on here for something like $9.99 (after giving away a few free copies), but also make a more extended version with more of what I know (I will make it worth the extra cost), for say $15, I will then publish that on Amazon kindle. In my sale on here you have the option of buying the version which less in it (pay less, risk less), or pay more for the extended fleshed out version. I will make a web-page promoting my book, and I'll also let others promote it for say 50-60% commission. I will then write some articles etc and try to advertise it myself and possibly make a youtube video promoting it.

As you can tell, I'm quite amateur, but I can do it. I'm quite looking forward to it.

Any input would be appreciated. I can handle it.

    I think it's a good idea. But before you do it decide who it will be for. The market here is quite different than what you might find the "business" crowd searching for info on Amazon. In other words, the majority of buyers on this forum are looking for easy money, quick fixes, rewards with little or no risk, etc. The more unbelievable the claims you make the more they want it.

    There are some people here that appreciate quality information relative to a legitimate business model but, and this is a big but, legit, "straight" offers often fall flat because they're not sexy. The trick to the game here is to first produce something outstanding. Then sell it to the "money for nuthin'" crowd.

    You won't want to write typical fast-buck copy though. You'll want your sales message to be a hybrid of a straight piece and one that appeals to the skateboard gang. I was actually able to do this a couple years ago though I had the help of a younger, hip partner who was able to take my copy and tweak it for this market.

    As for the work you submit to Amazon, that can be written and promoted to a more mainstream business audience. Good luck.

    Skip warrior and go straight to Amazon. Enroll in KDP select and give it away free for five days to get your download count up and get their system to start matching it with similar books, then enjoy the sales that follow.

    travlinguy thanks for that I appreciate it, I get where you're coming from with the type of market here on WF, but I also figured, a lot of the people on here, maybe not the experienced users, but the ones looking for a quick buck, will no doubt have jobs they hate, jobs where they are talking to clients and building relationships for a business that isn't theirs. The book would also be aimed at these people to try and make the most of the situation they're on, to try and get them to GET involved. Get them to make their job personal and enjoyable. So I thought the people on here might be able to relate with what I have in their current situation, but also be looking to get out with other relative books from others. Tara, thanks to you to, but do you agree with my points above? I found this website because it's not my desire to be working at the job I am now, but I make the most of it, I try to gain as much knowledge and as many strategies as possible, not for the business, but for me. Knowledge I can implement elsewhere and logical thinking I can apply to everyday life.

    There's a small segment of the market here that might relate to where you are. But believe me, the MAJOR part of the market here is looking for easy money and easy fixes of all types.

    There are literally thousands of threads and posts on the main board screaming this fact. The first thing a smart marketer does is recognize his market and then give them what they want.

    If you tailor your product and presentation the way you're describing it I believe you will be disappointed. But hey, I don't know everything. I've been wrong before.

    Hm, I may re-think the WF idea in this case.

    The way I justified it in my head was...'The worst thing that can happen is, I sell my product'.

    It may be possible to, like you say, re-tailor my product in to something this audience would be more interested in, may be difficult...OR, find my audience elsewhere. Regardless the threads in here do interest me, they make me cringe, but I must admit they do grab my attention, even if the posts aren't written in proper grammar or they're covered in primary colours guaranteeing me overnight success, they must be selling. May try to conjure up something more suitable after this idea to something which relates with the market here.

    Turn it into a marketing course.
    By all means line up as many affiliates as you can.
    Offer 75% commission.
    Learn how to set up a pre-launch.
    Price it very high. I'd say in the hundreds.

    You know your market.
    You know who your customers are.
    Target them.

    Consider offering free copies to get reviews and attract affiliates.
