YouTube profiting from the death of others?

Was clicking through YouTube videos and ran across several hundred videos (must be thousands) of people having there head blown off, children being shot in wars and dying, woman, children and men being tortured in the most in human way. Worst off all...YouTube runs AdSense on these pages!?!?! WTF!!! Is Google making millions from the death of others? How can these sick f#$@s sleep at night? Videos were not censored at all. Some of these videos were uploaded in 2011. Only 1 in 80 graphic videos did YouTube even ask from me to verify my age as the video was deemed graphic. What about the other 80 HD quality videos of people having there head blown off? Why was that not censored? Is this what America has become? We profit from death? Seen Goodyear adds run across most of the videos, do you think Goodyear would like to have there adds on these videos?

Anyway, it said this was the off topic forum so thought I would mention it.

What about the oil companies, weapons manufacturers, corporate food companies (that feed our troops), and our govt.(I'm sure I left a few out). They all profit from death.
Google may be profiting from showing it, but they are not profiting from causing it. Where's the outrage over the perps?

The outrage is that our children see this without censorship. What is supposed to be a family friendly website, or so I thought. Who gives them the right to poison my children. Yes, I can control my children from visiting YouTube. But what about all the other families that don't control what their children see. Those poisoned children spread their poison upon my children. It desensitizes humanity by watching this. Worst, they profit from it!

I was at a 9 year old birthday party the other day with my 9 year old. The kids went to YouTube to watch and sing to lyrics from different videos. Did you know that every 5th word was a curse word in the lyrics? Seems everyone profits from death these days...but this is one of the largest mass media sites in the world that brings the violence directly to your living room in HD quality video. Would you feel good if you were making millions from the death of others? I know that my morals dig far deeper then that!

The internet is uncensored, and pretty much un-regulated (within reason) as it should be.

What difference does it make whether you view it online or by watching your local news report?

      And quote -
but this is one of the largest mass media sites in the world that brings the violence directly to your living room in HD quality video.
Not to mention the fact you've got to search for the content your talking about, the YouTube homepage doesn't exactly show deaths on its homepage - but so what if it did? You've still got to actual click the video to watch the content.

Also, I'm not sure how every 5th lyric of a song is profiting from death...

If other parents don't control what their kids watch or do, that's on them not google.
Your beef should be with those parents for not doing their job.
Don't let your kid play with theirs and tell them and your kid why.
Who said Youtube is family friendly? If you don't like the content or think it's inappropriate for your kid then don't visit the site and/or don't let your kid visit the site.

        Welcome to the world.

Many countries, including the United States (in fact, especially the United States, the world's #1 weapons exporter) make enormous profits from death. War is the #1 business on the planet. You can try to hide that fact from your children for a while, but, sooner or later, they'll be exposed to it. For all you know, they may even become part of the next generation of people to profit from it.

What are war and violence, but the ultimate manifestation of a desire to impose your will on others, whether they want it or not... like you're advocating for other Youtube users, you warmonger.

I'm more concerned about why you watched 80 (or more) of these videos.

I haven't seen any of them, but then again, I don't go looking for them. You obviously did.

As far as "every 5th word being a curse word", hyperbole much?

You obviously take some form of pleasure from being outraged.

I guess this is what America has become lol. Searching for it lol? Thats not how YouTube search worked for me. Searching for funny cat videos (which I love to watch lol) leads you in different directions in the related videos. One direction lead me to video of snipers having fun shooting cats (or something like that), that lead me to man being shot in head by sniper.

Why did I click on it? Because I wanted to see if it was real thinking no way it could be. Then continued to click on more videos checking out how every other video had advertising on the video.

This is how YouTube search has always worked for me. You often see comments in videos saying "how did I end up on this video?" Oh well!

But to sum it up YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEARCH FOR IT!

The point of the lyrics from the video is... no matter how you censor your children from being poisoned, other parents children will always poison yours. I don't think YouTube has the right to do that

But, the point is that these violent things exist, not that he clicked! Why do we slow down at accident scenes? We want to view the damage, the "train wreck". We're curious because we can't believe what we're seeing. I likely would have clicked on at least a few of them. I'm just being honest.

I know how it feels to think, no, they couldn't have posted that could they? Click. Then, oh my gosh, they did post it. It's like looking at a train wreck, as the story goes.

But I do occasionally click and clicking perpetuates the problem.

Those videos and photos exist because people are going to view them, no matter what their original motive was. Looking at these things even when we shouldn't indicates that we are part of the problem and not the solution.

My family were refugees from Asia Minor back in the early 1900's. When I was researching the incident (Greek Holocaust) I found some absolutely horrifying footage of the internet and I spent the rest of the night crying after I looked at it, they were terrible.

They could have been my blood relatives - the ones who never made it out.

The thing is, I still looked at the footage. Why did I do that?!

There are some really terrible things out there and terrible people who do them.

Why should we have to be faced with the worst humanity has to offer? The answer is - we can't avoid it. Reminders will be everywhere no matter what.

For example, the Germans won't let their people forget about the Holocaust but they (the German government) controls the scenarios in which people are reminded. It's drilled in their heads in school that it was bad and evil and they are going to do all they can to prevent that from happening again.

So, they have their school aged kids take field trips to Dacchau and Eagle's Nest and other historically terrible places where photos of the soldiers show their smug faces and their happy handshakes, pleased with their work. This is the only way the German people can legally view footage footage of what happened, read the propoganda, look at the Hitler youth yo-yo's and comic books without getting arrested.

It's the simplicity of some of that propoganda - the fact that the Agenda was pushed on the youth, that sickened me the most.

But my point here is that I was there at the Eagle's Nest and at Dacchau looking at all that stuff. I even listened to Hitler's rewritten drinking songs which are, of course, illegal to sing or even think of in Germany unless viewed in a controlled setting.

How is this any different than the curiosity that led trade4861 to click on a few youtube videos?

And for that matter, this is definitely censorship created by the German government. How do we feel about censorship in this particular case?

I am going to say this because I live in the United States and I can have any opinion I want and I express my opinions in any way I see fit (Thank You, First Amendment), I am really glad that censorship exists in cases like this.

I am also not sorry I researched my ancestors, went to Dacchau, or visited the Eagle's Nest no matter how disturbing and violent the images are. I like to understand the worst humanity is capable of so that I can appreciate it when exposed to the best.

In fact, the Eagle's Nest has a nice section that celebrates the various resistance movements so that made the whole thing tolerable.

Adults, kids, whatever... No one has to see this stuff. I thought it was next to impossible to keep kids away from all the unholy crap out there. About a year ago I ran into a couple in a used book store going through titles for their son. I struck up a conversation with them and discovered they have three kids and those kids don't get to watch much TV.

They have family TV viewing sessions where they play only G rated movies. They're also home schooled. The kid in the bookstore was about seven and he was a brilliant, polite little boy. Meeting these people helped renew a little of my faith in good sense and responsible parenting. We didn't talk about the Internet but I'd bet their kids don't get to watch snuff films online either.

        You are not someone I thought would have a problem with research, but, well - here. Fixed that problem for ya;

Yelling about censorship because we need to "save our children" is just plain obtuse. The damage that could be caused by censorship is infinite. You allow censorship of anything because you are worried about your kids and that opens the pathway to have ANYTHING and EVERYTHING censored. What happens if your government goes whacko out of control and are allowed to censor rampant and gross abuse of power?

It's much safer to know what they would hide from you. NEVER ask for censorship because you might just get it and censorship usually leads to tyrannical control. So instead of telling us to give up our freedom to watch or post even things that disgust and sicken the average person - be a parent and discuss things with your kid and take appropriate measures to restrict their activities. Be a parent, in other words.

I can't watch crap like you are describing.....um....so I don't. As far as things poisoning other people - when in human history on planet earth were we able to run away from all things that poison people's minds? Just leave people's rights alone and cowboy up. Whining to be protected does nothing good for anyone in the long run.

A definite contender. We've still got more than half the year to get through though, so no doubt someone will manage to top (or bottom if you prefer ) this one.
