Google Maps Zoom
Dumb question regarding Google Maps. I'm on Windows 7 with Firefox. Is there any way to set the default zoom level?
I read this but couldn't get it to work:

Normally, when I type in a city it zooms to the city limits by default
I'm usually more interested in where the city is in relation to the country and region (say, cities like Dhaka where I'm not sure where they are).
As a result, I always have to zoom out.
(I know, 21st century problems. But it is annoying).
