Not sure about the film, but that has got to be the worst trailer I've ever seen.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

Will Farrell has a specific type of humor that many just don't find funny. I do. Anchorman was so funny to me, that I embarrassed my wife at the movies by laughing so hard. And Steve Carell is a comic genius.

Farrell has a way of playing clueless buffoons that take themselves very seriously. Anchorman was hilarious to me, partly because there are people that are nearly as cartoonish as Ron Burgundy.

My wife thinks these movies are stupid.

Me? I think comedy is serious acting. Actors can cry on cue, but be funny on cue? Very difficult.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

            100% agree on all points.

...and yeah...my wife thinks silly humor is stupid too...I don't know what it is but I just think some people just don't have as broad a spectrum of humor as others.

I guess I must be one of those - because i don't think most 'comedy' is funny. Very few comics make me laugh - and i don't find it funny to make fun of stupidity. It's ugly, not funny usually. It's a shame because I love to laugh and it is so good for you -

... oh and the death knell of any 'sitcom' ? The canned laughter after every stupid punch line. (where there is dead air as far as I can see - no wonder they have to put something in there) - I am done after the first round!

Now show me an elastic face like Stan Laurel, Jerry Lewis, or Jim Carey and they don't even have to say anything to make me laugh - hard.

glad you guys found some L's OL!

Patrician, have you ever watched Monk or Fawlty Towers?. For me I found great joy in the character development in those shows. The nuances of the characters traits and mannerisms is what pushed my funny button.

You mentioned Jerry Lewis. He was my first humor influence. My mom and I spent several summer afternoons watching the Martin and Lewis reruns. You might enjoy the documentary "the last American clown".

    Doran,

Yes I like Fawlty Towers - dry, wry, 'obscure' humor - now that I get! I am glad somebody here remembers 'Dean and Jerry' and that you and your mom enjoyed them.

oh add to my elastic face line-up - Whoopie Goldberg.

    ;o)
