Several TGIFridays in Jersey were busted for substituting premium alcohol for cheaper brands. One place even sold rubbing alcohol and caramel coloring as scotch.

    WOW, rubbing alcohol is ADULTERATED!!!!!

    Symptoms of isopropyl alcohol poisoning include flushing, headache, dizziness, CNS depression, nausea, vomiting, anesthesia, and coma. Poisoning can occur from ingestion, inhalation, or absorption; therefore, well-ventilated areas and protective gloves are recommended. Around 15 g of isopropyl alcohol can have a toxic effect on a 70 kg human if left untreated.[16]
    SO, as little as about 20g of rubbing alcohol, or about 2 hundredths of a liter, could kill a 154 pound person! If someone tried to sell that as scotch, they should be thrown in jail and treated as a person attempting murder!

    BESIDES, there have been FEDERAL LAWS against such things in the US for at least 80 years or so. During prohibition, some tried to distill spirits, sliped up, and went BLIND, or DIED because they drank METHANOL!

    Alcohol does NOT refer to a product. It refers to a TYPE of product. Alcohol is chemically similar to sugar, and goes from something much like sugar to something that could quickly kill you. If you are goig to attemt to replace alcohol with something cheaper, maybe you should check it out FIRST!

    Even ETHANOL fuel is adulterated with gas and other things.

    I'd be suing their tails if they gave me rubbing alcohol to drink. I'm sure that there is at least one customer gearing up to shut them down.
