Unfortunately it is too costly for me to have gotten to Sydney so I watched it on my PC and thought it was great. as is everything connected to the Doctor.

There's a question I've been wanting to ask for awhile, but not been wanting to be shouted down on, either:

Can fans share with me what you see in the show?

I tried watching episode 1 of the rebooted series to see what all the fuss was about, and when the garbage bin ate someone it lost all credibility. Seemed aimed at a teenage audience to me. Is that typical or...?

I like science fiction...anyone who's seen Sapphire and Steel will know that I'm willing to wait for the plot to build and give it a chance...but this just seemed goofy. What do you like about the show and why? Very interested in your opinions because it sounded like the kind of show I should like.

Man, I don't know how to answer that. I'm a Science fiction buff myself. I wouldn't call Doctor Who science fiction exactly. I don't know what it is.

I started watching a few episodes before David Tennant started as The Doctor. I just think most of the episodes are brilliant story telling. And they feel like I'm taking a ride through a brilliant madman's mind.

Science fiction has at least a shred of plausibility. I don't know that Doctor Who does. To me, it's like the old "Calvin & Hobbes" comic strip. You either buy into it, and think it's brilliant...or you don't.

I will admit that most British comedies aren't my taste. That doesn't mean they aren't great...just not for me. Doctor Who took a few episodes before I got hooked. Recently the BBC has been showing the earlier episodes from past decades. and I can't get into them.

      Different strokes.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

    Hi Jason,

I have watched it for years. I love sci-fi but not all sci-fi. I love Star Trek. I like the constantly changing story lines. I love the way that they can keep it going by regenerating the doctor. It's the ideal way to keep it running for over 50 years without getting stale.

They have had some great actors playing the role and each one is unique. Having spent many years as an actor and all-round theatre person myself, I would love to be able to play that role but I know I can't. Still, it's ok to fantasize about it.
Doctor Who spans the generations so young and old can enjoy it, maybe for different reasons..

I hope that all makes sense. I am sure other people will chime in with their opinions too.

@Claude. Everyone has their own tastes when it comes to TV viewing. Doctor Who has almost gained a cult following, much like Star Trek. As you say, you either do or don't like the shows and neither choice is right or wrong. I love both and try to watch everything I can. I have seen the latest Star Trek movie and I will certainly watch the newest Doctor Who episodes when they start screening again here.
