Don't forget to backup... Your PHONE!

The touch-screen went out on my phone. No problem, it was still under warranty. Everything was handled well and quickly.
...

Except...

I didn't have a backup of my phone-stuff. You know contacts, screens, apps, bookmarks, phone settings to name a few items. There are plenty of no-cost apps for backing up and downloading your phone configuration. My phone even came with some backup software.

So, as a friendly reminder, you may want to take a minute and backup your phone.

    Amen.

The contacts are easy. From a recent article:

On a similar note: Cellphones tend to use a "Contacts" app that
serves as a master file for email addresses, phone numbers,
birthdays, instant messenger handles, and more. Back these up,
    too.

To do that, open your Contacts app, and bring up the menu. You
should see an option to import or export your contacts.
Exporting them will create a .vcf file on your phone. Copy that
to your computer, your Dropbox account, or wherever else you
might want to save it. If you need to restore it later, just
copy it to the new phone and import it.

If your phone is lost or stolen, or you just change phones,
this will save you a lot of headaches.

I write everything down in a notebook periodically. I realized that I better not totally rely on technology when I had to get an important number from my grandmother, but her phone was lost. When I asked her to recite the phone number, she said," She's Number 7."
