INCREDIBLE! If you cookie stuff, you HURT the profits of the vendor when people buy the product. You do NOT help!

He's referring to the reason cookie stuffing is frowned on by merchants. Basically stated, it's a way to collect commissions you didn't earn.

For example, we have some persistent cookie stuffers who hit this forum with links that drop cookies for popular hosting companies. Since a lot of our members are likely to buy hosting in any given month, the cookie stuffers end up getting paid commissions on some of those. Those commissions were not earned, and come out of the profits of either the hosting companies or affiliates who made effective recommendations prior to getting "hit" with the cookies.

It's still bad. If you can't at least INTEREST them, why should you get ANY money? Cookies are there to allow honest people, that only interested the prospect, to get paid.

Agreed. I just meant that I am not slightly surprised about the news.

9 times out of ten, sellers will *****NOT***** take stuffed cookies unless the visitor went to them DIRECTLY! That means they did NOT follow a referral link.

SO, suppose that a person had a cookie loaded that said that companya referred them to amazon.

If the person just went to amazon, and nobody had referred them, then amazon would get ALL the profit.

If a referrer referred them, and the person bought, the referrer gets some money. OK, THEY reminded the visitor, and maybe advertised the products!

If a referrer referred them, and the person LATER bought, the referrer gets some money. OK, THEY reminded the visitor, and maybe advertised the products!

If a referrer referred them, and the person LATER bought, AFTER going to a cookie stuffer, the stuffer gets some money, for NOTHING! The referrer AND amazon lose out!

If the person bought, AFTER going to a cookie stuffer, the stuffer gets some money, for NOTHING! Amazon loses!

Does this mean that Digital Point is history? Is the site kaput now? All I know is that it isn't running from where I am.

We don't allow promoting or bashing of other forums here, which is why I've been watching this thread. This is neither, so far. The cookie-stuffing aspect is news, and is relevant to the industry as a whole.

It's old news, but that's a different story.

DP Guy's new affiliate program: how to be super affiliate public enemy of the Internet!

...just think of all the honest guys that lost their shirts because even with all their effort, they couldn't make it in affiliate marketing maybe all or in part because of (stolen commissions) -- anyway, so i hope it's not bashing, but he should rot, etc.

I'm still waiting for all the honest women to lose their shirts. Hell, even the dishonest ones, for that matter.
