Microsoft Puts Bing Ads In Windows 8.1 - Business Insider

Microsoft is expanding its Bing Ads platform to work with a new search feature in Windows 8.1 when it arrives later this year.
Last week at its Build developer conference, Microsoft unveiled a preview version of Windows 8. It includes a feature called Smart Search, which pulls results from the web as well as from their local PC or tablet.

By integrating Bing Ads into Smart Search, Microsoft is going to be able to serve up ads to PCs running Windows 8.

And since Microsoft says it has sold 100 million Windows 8 licenses so far, that amounts to a pretty huge expansion.

"Now, with a single campaign setup, advertisers can connect with consumers across Bing, Yahoo! and the new Windows Search with highly relevant ads for their search queries," David Pann, GM of the search network at Microsoft, said in a Tuesday blog post.

If it means l can search for something, and get more relevant ad's on the right, fair enough, but if it means invasive ad's, like popups, then Windows 8.1 will be the worst OS since Vista!

But l agree Bing needs to lift its game, if it wants to compete with Adwords.

Whenever l tried Bing, it never sold, and Adwords, sold most of the time, but the kw costs are becoming so prohibitive, it is getting out of reach for most!

That should go over well, pay money for an OS & be forced to look at Ads, good luck with the lawsuit/s.

YEAH! There IS a free open source efficient, widely supported, POSIX COMPLIANT(Windows sometimes CLAIMS to be, but ISN'T) O/S! OH, I made this claim almost 20 years ago! Back then, people laughed! Oh it is not ...... So what happened? MORE hardware support! MORE Apps! MORE standards! MORE databases!(Heck, ORACLE, that now supports it, bought at least TWO competitors that run on it!) It is now THE preferred OS for smaller computers, that can't even run Windows! It has HUGE corporate support! It is easier to use, setup, and upgrade. It is THE LEADER on a little thing called THE INTERNET!

YEP, it is called LINUX! M/S is treading on thin ice! If they make too many more missteps, they could LOSE!
