Hi all.

I want you to tell me what your problems are...whatever they are...and I will "listen... and then I will see if I can help.
No pressure. I am not trying to make sales of anything. I am merely going to "listen."

Your turn.

Gosh, not a single taker? I'll admit this is my 3rd attempt to put my "concern" into words, but people must be feeling mighty shy today. Laurence, this could be a nice little thread, so maybe my post will kick things off (or, if it goes hot, you may just regret starting it).

I'm in the middle of an ethical and moral dilemma. I have been absorbing IM materials for the last several months to prepare for a business launch that is now very likely not going to happen. I've also created a large document detailing a possible process for part of this business.

75% of this document is practical knowledge I've gained from the IM guides. Another 12% is from me, and the other 13% was generated during team meetings. Now that the business is on hold indefinitely, I need to branch out into other ventures. I'm not sure if it would be wise to take this document and re-purpose it for other ventures. Thoughts?

Thank you, Pandora, for starting the thread off. I don't think i will regret it. I know people often have questions and maybe this thread will answer some that haven't even been asked.
I don't pretend to know everything either so always take what I say as simply one person's opinion.

As to your dilemma... is your main concern that you may profit from what other people have put into this document? If so, you could ask them if it is okay to look at changing it for other purposes. Maybe if you do make lots of money, you could give them some sort of commission? However, they only gave you a small amount of input so I am not sure if they deserve much commission.

I think it would partly depend on WHAT they actually contributed. For example, if their contribution was a MAJOR or MINOR one.
I hope I have made sense and feel free to ask if I haven't.

Well it's a view, and not mine, so that is indeed what I was after. For the most part, anyone COULD create this document...Not that most folks have a reason to. I guess my biggest issue that is that I feel less like it's stealing to nab and use it, and more like one very unloyal biatch to make use of it for my own projects.

I wrote the darn thing, and very little of it is stuff that came out of our team meetings. So probably I just need get over my issues and move on....sigh.

That sounds about right. You can always add credits in your product for the people who deserve them. It sounds like you have made the decision to do it and I think that is a sensible one.

Hi, l have a problem, if you could please give me $10,000 in $100 dollar bills, in increments of $1000, in a brown sealed envelope, under the Crown Casino's toilet door, at 9pm, Thursday 11th July that would help me a lot!!! LOL!

Just call out Tagiscom and slip it under, l will answer, and keep my identity secure, just in case the FBI, is on your tail.

And l forgot to mention it is a tax free donation, just say you went to the Casino, and picked red instead of black?

Not a good idea anyway security will probably think you are a drug supplier, giving his dealer the daily takings?

That would be pretty funny thought, having them open it up and find Monopoly money inside, with me pleading, it isn't drug money, the meth, lab is my cousins, honest!!!!

I've battled depression and social anxiety, which spins off into procrastination and other sub-issues, for decades. It seriously gets in the way of realizing my IM dreams. There are no magic pills, and doctors just seem to not "get it". If someone can help me with that, they'll get a lifetime 30% of all my income that derives from my being able to finally succeed.....

Hmmm, nothing new there, unless you are talking about Bi Polar disorder then it is more serious, although l have heard meditation does help, reduce or alleviate the ups and downs of life being bigger than it is!

But for the sake of this feedback l will just assume it is the sort of depression and social anxiety we all face, when we consider IM.

This lifestyle, especially initially, may not be for everyone, eventhough almost everyone wants to be wealthy.

And staring into an abyss for years and years, not knowing if you REALLY WILL make it online, isn't easy, eventhough it builds strength of character and will power, which most people who sit on the face don't get!

It is like anything in life, very difficult initially because you don't know what to do and how to do it. Which is why a lot of WF members mention Mentors.

But over time it gets easier and easier.

So, even if you are not on the right path, you are still learning, and still evolving to handle wealth when it comes, and still becoming more determined to get there.

So you can see nothing is wasted, and persistent effort regardless of time frames, will get you there eventually.

Of course most or all of your friends will do a runner, that is nothing out of the ordinary. Most very successful people online or in any profession have had to endure that!

And your family may say things like,"you are wasting your time" or "you have worked your guts out on that thing, (PC) for 3 years and have nothing to show for it" or "all online marketers are scammers" etc, etc, etc!!!!

        Ignore them!!!

Fair enough if your wife knocks what you are doing, because she spoke to her IM, millionaire friend, who gave some valid reasons, why it isn't a good idea. But if she knows no one like that, then the advise is probably emotionally based which means it isn't constructive, so needs to be handles delicately and at the proper time!

When you make it, your family will probably say, how lucky you are. And you friends may still stay away because you are too successful, but that is ok, make some new ones that have higher ideals, than a 9 to 5 existence!

Success is physically easy, but emotionally it is the equivalent to climbing Mount Everest with broken arms and legs!

I have had times where l thought that the last 5 years were a waste, and nothing works for me.

And other times, where it looked like, l wasn't allowed to succeed.

And others, where l was up against a brick wall that was impossible to scale.

But the failures, either led to more failures or minor successes, and in the meantime l was learning how to create a website, or design a WSO, that looked professional or manage a freelancer to design some software, etc, etc, etc.

And eventually when it seemed the darkest, (after 5 years of effort, any big failure seems seriously dark) l found something that l could apply my graphics skills to, that could be scaled, (major barrier, most of the time) and l could finally have a real shot at.

The funny thing is also, most newbies to this site, also fail or hardly make anything. My first try got sales, but very little in the way of profits, but thanks to my skills in researching a product, l was able to figure it out, to find a potential opportunity.

So, keep going no matter what, and don't worry about the 30% of your income pledge, (if l helped) just post your success on the WF, that will be enough!

        Good luck.

        Shane

PS, in the morning put up an image of something, (on your PC screen) that motives you. I usually put up a Bora, Bora type tropical image, but whatever gets you going?

So, when you are ready to start, l tropical island, or car, mansion, etc is staring you in the face. Subconsciously it keeps you motivated, even if consciously, you may be thinking that what you are doing looks iffy!

It's staying motivated overall that is the important thing, and of course doing the best you can!

        Joel,

        1) What does your typical daily diet consist of? If you consume a lot of processed or sugary foods / drinks, that's not good. If you consume mostly natural, whole foods, on the other hand, that's good!

        2) Do you exercise on a regular basis?

        3) Do you get plenty of regular sunshine?

Those 3 things have a far greater effect on mood and well-being than most people realize.

Nope. I do get a 2 or 3 day workout with my part-time job, but the rest of the week I'm at the computer most of the time, or watching TV. Does mowing a half acre of grass once a week count?

I feel your pain, Dude. I have never been diagnosed, but I swear that I have ADD! If I am writing a particularly large volume of information (I am a writer by trade), more times than not, I have to take a break about every two hours. Then there are times when I have about 20 tasks to complete in one day, and I can work non-stop!

I have always had a tough time focusing on one large task at a time, but now I use this "gift" to my advantage.

Knowing my weaknesses, I design a weekly schedule so that I have a lot of mixture in my daily activities. It really does take planning though, usually at the end of the week for the next week in advance. If you suffer from depression, you may want to plan your week so that your days are full and eventful. Having lots of downtime can play with your head.

I also go to the gym everyday. I am not a muscle-head though. I do it to break up my day, stay out of the fridge, increase my energy levels, and keep depression at bay.

My daily fitness goals are very, very simple:

        1. Pick something FUN to do (treadmill, weights, stationary bike, sit-ups,a mixture of several, or whatever!). There is no "plan", other than to get out of the house, see some other humans, and.....

        2. Break a Sweat! It may sound silly, but there is something to be said for releasing that negative energy, stress, and fear through perspiration. I just imagine all of the "bad stuff" being released from my body through exercise.

No other goals. No dream of becoming Arnold Schwarzenegger. No fantasies of vanity. I just do it to make me feel better mentally.

Experts say 20 minutes a day is fine, but once you get inside, you usually want to stay a little longer. The hard part is always making it in the door. Then, just leave whenever it gets "non-fun".

        Hang in there Boss!

    Joel,

I totally relate to the depression as I also suffer from it but currently it is not as bad as t used to be thanks to the right medication combination. Have you tried medication? The right one can work wonders for your mental health. If your doctor doesn't 'get it,' it's time for a new doctor. I have had a couple of clueless doctors in my time but right now I have all great doctors, evenb though I put them through hell at times due to my issues.

As for procrastination, you need to write down your daily goals and prioritise them so you get the most important ones done first. I do that and it works very well for me.

If you need more ideas/support, let me know.

I've tried a few medications in the past, and one of them did help me a bit - the lows weren't quite as low - but I stopped taking it after a while. Why? Not really sure. But I do know that I still don't go as low as I used to, so maybe it permanently "fixed" something partially. It's been 6 years or so since I took anything.

I do have a doctor now who is pretty good, but he's gone off to further his education in his field, and is only practicing on weekends for the next year or so, and has another doctor filling in for him. Appointments are hard to get with this guy, and more difficult for my regular doctor on weekends only.

The procrastination is starting to dwindle, but I have a long way to go. Various posts recently here on WF has helped with that!

I have found that when I do latch onto some level of focus in my IM efforts, I do well, and the depression/anxiety doesn't affect me much. But as you know, all it takes is something else in life to ruin the high, and it takes a while to recover. But I'll get there. Being a member here has been very good for me as far as ideas, methodologies and general camaraderie.

@Viralmediaboost. Are you single or in a relationship? If the later, you should enlist the help of your partner to help you save. If you are alone, however, it all falls on you to be disciplined enough to save your money instead of spending it.
Start by working out a budget for all the things that you need to cover in the way of bills and expenses.
Allow yourself money to spend BUT also set a fixed amount to save as well. If you do this often enough, you'll start to find it easier to handle and will eventually break through the barrier of spending to excess,

Also if you achieve a small victory, (complete a task) you can do what l do, and watch a particularly funny video before going to bed.

Type in Youtube po*p, Lord of the rings, or Harry Potter, etc. There is some language here and there, etc but some extremely funny editing, or scenes, well worth a look.

This may sound silly, but try starting out for one hour per day, with no diversions. FORCE yourself. White knuckle it if you have to! Gradually increase it by 5 minutes per day. Eventually, you can get to the point that between 2 pm and 3 pm, you can "play and surf" for that entire hour.

You can stay off Facebook for 1 hour! I am not on here very often, but you have something like 150+ "thanks" on only 88 posts. Obviously, you are a GENIUS! Kick Facebook in the bum! You've got bigger fish to fry!

    Hi everyone,

I used to suffer from depression and anxiety all the time until I started seeing a hypnotherapist. I listen to a recorded session created for me and it includes some work on staying focused. As long as I listen to it regularly I do very well. I know hypnosis won't help everyone but it is worth trying.

Not so, have you never heard of screen readers? You can listen to web pages if you use one. They can print to braille too, with the right printer. It's called "assistive technology."

Don't mean to sidetrack the thread, but I had to post that.

    Joel,

Maybe use this forum as a form of therapy. It sounds like you do anyway. If you feel down, come and share it with us which will ease it because you're not bottling things up. I know from experience that if I share, my depression eases quite a bit. I see a psychologist regularly and he also helps but you never know when the lows hit so please treat us (or me via pm if you prefer) as your venting source.

I use music and music composition to help me during those "blue" days, and it helps me to get out of that particular loop.
Yep, these are particularly good songs l listen to, when l get a bit depressed.

      and...

Plenty of motivational lyrics to keep me going!

And if that fails then the big guns come out, which is either a good movie, (prefably at a theater) or a large block of dark chocolate with almonds! Yum :p.

A bucket of chocolate gives the same impact as a cocaine hit, if you could eat it all of course.

Least it is legal, and does help!

      Shane

PS couldn't go to a pub and get drunk, being numb does reduce being depressed, but with the inevitable hangover and loss of mental faculties, l suspect it would depress me more overall, so l will stay with chocolate!

Speaking of music as a release, that's probably my savior in life. I'm a songwriter, was once a professional performer/recording artist (session player and personal demos) - music is my core. I retired from the professional side in 1997, but I still sit at my piano or play my guitar, and have continued to write new material. One of my goals with IM is to make enough money that I can finally make my own album and sell it.

But for now, to get me through some of the down times, I have a folder on my computer called Happy Songs. It contains only songs that have a good, upbeat, positive feel to them, and the lyrics aren't negative (no loss of love, end of the world, or angry stuff). One particular song that's a very moldie oldie is "Happy Heart" by Andy Williams. I simply cannot stay sad when I hear it. "Beautiful Sunday" by Daniel Boone.... even as far back as 1948 with Art Mooney's "I'm Looking Over A Four-Leaf Clover". I have a ton of songs from the 40's to the 80's that lift me up.

Well, chocolate does contains caffeine and theobromine, both of which are well-known mood enhancers. Only problem is all the sugar that normally comes with it. But if you can find 100% raw, dark chocolate (which contains no sugar), it's actually extremely healthy for you. That is, if you can stomach the taste!

I like Green & Blacks 85% dark. It's got a little sugar in it, but not very much (just enough to keep it from being too bitter). Good stuff.

I have several relaxation cds that are great to listen to. They help me sleep and that is when I really need the music. I usually don't hear the end of them or I run them on a loop.

It seems to have gone anyway so that's good.
I moderate in another forum and I think that it is great to be able to delete the spam yourself. But that one is much quieter than this one lately anyway so it's no big deal there.

Ok, l find that the Youtube P**p, channel does the trick!

Obviously if you are easily offended then maybe it isn't good?

I found last night that The Brady Bunch haven't been spared; l still remember Alice taking some cookies out of the oven, which was on fire, (clever video editing) LOL! :p

There have been several times when l watched one of these, and been literally crying it was so funny. And from the comments, others have almost had a coronary at certain points in the video!

It is usually some bored teenager doing these with Sony Vegas or an Apple setup, but some are very clever!

Regarding anxiety, breathing is supposed to help. I just read today that the kind of measured breathing you do when singing is comparable to the breathing you do during yoga. The physical benefits of yoga are not equal to singing though.

I never thought about it before but singing really makes me happy and it is effortless unlike other activities that need/have to be done.

Oscar, my friend, How ya doin'? lol

I agree with what you say. You need to plan your day according to how you feel. If you are ADD, then keep busy and then you'll cope better. I have days when I do lots and others when I don't do much.

I don't have ADD but sometimes it does feel that way too.

All IM'ers have ADD, (myself included) so it is nothing to be ashamed of, just controlled!
