He is about to turn 4, I took him to the eye doctors
He hasn't been there in 6 months, he was chattering a mile a minute
and flirting with the nurse, when he got to the room he saw the chart
and says hey ... I already know this chart. The nurse asks how
old he was, when I told her, she goes oh I thought he was just
small for his age.

So I asked her if they have any other charts, she said no.

When the eye doctor come in my boy goes ... excuse me please, can we have
another chart. The doctor asks why and he says, because I already know this one.

The doctor just kinda of laughed and said, no you don't.

My boy covered both his eyes and "read" the chart.

You should have seen the look on this dudes face.
I kid you not his jaw was on the floor.

He used his manners and put the doctor in his place.

Made my day

Not to mention it's amazing he knew the chart without reading it. Very bright!

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

He has a memory like an elephant, its been very cool watching it grow.

I don't think its going to be too long from now where I will have to
teach him how to play dumb.

Damn, I can't even remember the first letter of that chart! Is it E? LOL, good for him, hopefully he will grow up and become a malpractice lawyer, and you can tell him that even when he was 4 he was putting doctors in their place.

    That's pretty damn cool.

Maybe you should start using your phone camera in situations, just in case you get another great moment like that.

Impressive. Definitely gifted. My son's memory is about where every taboo spot in our home is, and his creativity is about finding ways to access them. I think he was a raccoon in a past life.

See if he can do it when he is NINE! It seems that maybe 100% can do it as babies, fewer around 3, and fewer around 9. So he made it to the second group.

ALSO, if he was bored, and left with the chart, or WANTED to impress, it is CHEATING!

      Ken -

Don't ever teach him to play dumb - teach him to make other people get smarter to keep up with him.

That is pretty amazing. When I was of his age I used to.. Wait I can't remember. Your son has some gifted gifts. I hope he'll not fly like the superman at the age of 10.

Photographic memory. Kewl. Special talents, abilities, and interests really start to show at that age, so watch him close. With a photographic memory he'll be able to really excel at anything he's got a keen interest in - so watch for those interests and stoke them like a fire. == Oh, keep him away from fluoride and aspartame, while you're at it.

      Ken,

Your son most definitely shows many signs of being gifted. As Sal has said, watch them and encourage him in those areas. Who knows, he could be the next gift to the world who makes changes to better our world.

When my gifted son was three, he would quote word for word three consecutive Dr. Seuss stories from his video tapes complete with the exact voice inflections the narrator used. We encouraged him to do it again with another video with three stories and then another.

When his school ordered an IQ test in the second grade, he scored the highest the tester had ever encountered. He was given a test with a key on the top of the page. It consisted of different shapes, some fully shaded, some partially shaded and some not shaded at all.

The tester said he looked at the key for the first line and a half, then after that whipped through the 20 lines correctly without ever looking at the key again and finished the test with time to spare. He said a second grader, in all of his years of experience, had never completed the test, let alone with time left over.

He told us to encourage this gift throughout his life because if it wasn't continuously utilized, he could lose that ability as he grew older. My son is now 24 and still amazing everybody with that ability.

That's amazing that your son has good memory skills. I strongly believe he will be one smart kid. Be there for him always and guide him so he'll be in the right path and so that his skills will be enhanced.
