I read some old WSOs and the author recommended to go to compete.com and do a website analysis.

Has compete.com changed? I can't go to the same screen that the author took the screen shot.... is there another service that I can use for free?

Yes, you can use SimilarWeb which actually gives you more information than compete ever did including breakdown of traffic sources (search, mail, social, etc) and leading referring sites.

You can also compare traffic stats for up to 3 different sites
