I'm sure this is simple if you know how

I don't have the support of my webmaster anymore so I admit I am at a loss as to how to do certain things.
I know this seems easy and I have tried to do it correctly but only partially succeeded.

I want to add ebooks to my site so that I can sell them and people can simply click my link in here and be sent to them BUT I don't quite know how to do it.

I can add articles that are clickable with no problem but this seems confusing to me. (Yes, I know...I am far from perfect.)
Is there a kind soul out there who may be able to help me with this?
Some one who can explain it simply?

Thank you in advance.

I have 2,500 pages of downloadable files, the download link is the same as a regular hyperlink.

    HTML Code:
    <a href="http://domain.com/your-pdf-here.pdf">Download PDF Here</a>
Test that you have the correct URL, copy the pdf URL & paste it into your browser (new browser tab), If the pdf opens in the new browser tab then you have the correct URL that you can paste in the hyperlink code (above).

You put it on your download page. It needs to be after the <body> tag and before the </body> tag. Preferably near the top, but it's hard to be specific without knowing what your set up is.

Hint: find something on the page that near where you want the download link to be, then find that spot in you source code and put the code there.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Hmmm, what kind of site do you have, if it is an SBI site or Hostgator, then l know it backwards.

But if it is a blog, or other site, then possibly, but not step by step, since l am unfamiliar with your hosting setup.

        Shane

PS Bluehost is virtually identical to Hostgator!

My site is a WordPress.org site hosted by Hosthead.
I don't know if that helps you Shane.

@Dennis. I know this will sound ignorant but I don't know what/where my download page is.
I know my webmaster was using FTP but I don't remember how to use it.

    Hi Laurence,

Your ebook page is a "page" within your blog/site

Articles written and edited by expert writer.

Each ebook has a link to a paypal button.

Log in to your paypal account find the button and see where the buyer is directed to after purchase. That is the download page.

You'll probably find that each product has it's own separate download page in a folder on your site.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Just to clear things up! Are you talking about how to create a link to a payment processor such as Paypal, or are you trying to create the link to the E-book itself.

I am trying to set it up so that people can buy through a payment processor and that links to the book on my site. However, I also want to have others that are free so people simply go to my site to download.

@Yukon...yes, I have emailed the host as it does seem the site is down temporarily.
So I can't try anything until it comes back up again.
I will post when that happens.

    edit** site is back up.

@Janet. Thanks, I will check it out that way and see what I can find.

    I do appreciate everyone's help.

Laurence, you can make a Buy Now button in Paypal. You'll see "Step 3: Customized advanced features (optional)"...click the down arrow to open that up. Underneath will be "Customize checkout pages" options. Click the box button next to "Take customers to this URL when they finish checkout", then enter the url where your document is. This could be a web page, a file on your site, or a link to the file in dropbox or another filesharing system.

Another good one to set up is the "Take customers to this URL when they cancel their checkout" option, for all those wishy-washy people who click the Buy button and then change their minds.

I fulfilled products this way for awhile, though it's not very secure. Make sure you name your file and/or delivery page something different from the subject. Otherwise, people will just google for it and find it for free that way. I had a lot of blackhat visitors until I moved to a membership site. You can add a password to view the page if you like (deliver it and the url via the download link instead the file...though these too can be passed around. I like dropbox as an intermediate solution for this very reason--they can't search for and find the file on your site because it's not there).
