According to this report, oil will cost less than half of what it does now by the end of the year yet the price of gas will not change much.

In other words,we the oil companies will keep gouging you.

I think it's at least as much a product of government gouging - mandates for exotic seasonal gasoline, ethanol use requirements, transport of product by rail and truck because no one can build a pipeline.

That's not even counting gasoline taxes - anywhere from $.45 to $.90 per gallon depending on where you live.

I am so sick of this.

Let's not forget also that the Fed announced their plans to continue their quantitative easing program, which is also stripping us of purchasing power. So, the dollar losing value also plays a role in the price of gas remaining high.

The price of gas could *******INSTANTLY******* be cut in half, EVEN if it went to a million dollars a gallon! HOW? SIMPLE! GET RID OF THE TAXES!

Gas would IMMEDIATELY drop 50%, and continue to drop due to secondary and tertiary costs being cut as a consequence.

That would ALSO cut the cost of nearly everything else! I have a number of things I mght have bought, but the shipping costs a LOT! Sometimes as much as 100% as much! WHY? MOST is probably GAS!

OK, we just reduced it 50% with NO effort! The horsepower could be increased 25% and more people could be fed as a DIRECT consequence! HOW? Get rid of the stupid arbitrary formulation requirements. You will INSTANTLY have MORE CORN, and gas HP will increase 25%+ as a consequence. It also FURTHER reduces the cost to ship the grain to where it can be used for food.

And this is only DIRECT benefits! Think of all the money lost, discoveries not made, etc... because of the stupid garbage.

IMAGINE! Let's go by 42 gallons of crude in a regular barrel. 50% is pure THEFT, so it doesn't count. At an average of $3.5 USD, you should get an average of $1.75. Gas may be the cheapest thing in it. OK, let's figure 100% is GAS. it ISN'T, but let's figure that. 42*1.75=73.5. That is about 74% of what the barrels have generally sold for. Of course, there are refining costs, etc.... I guess they are lucky that OIL sells for like $34/gallon! Kerosene is like $64/gallon Tar about $8/gallon! Of course, there is refining, shipping, and markup. ALSO, there is garbage they have to throw out.
