How will this benefit me?

Hi Guys,

After too many years and minutes sat at a computer I have somehow managed to develop a typing speed of 98 words per minute. I'm just curious to know how, or in what job field, this may benefit me?

Thanks!

  • Anything to do with typewriting..................
  • The question you should be asking yourself is..."How will this benefit someone else?".

Find that answer and you'll have found a potential source of income.

    • Bingo!
Find people who need something transcribed, and they're out there, and you've got yourself a nice little cottage industry.

  • I don't think it's a tremendously useful skill- rather, it's a by-product of being able to type fast and being familiar and comfortable with the English language.

I suppose it means you'll be able to blog faster, write faster- but your writing is typically limited less by your typing speed and more by your ability to come up with ideas, and to play around with them, etc.

The fastest typer doesn't necessarily get the prize. But hey, it's a big world, and there's room for everybody.

There's no lack of fast and accurate typers in the world, so it's a race to the bottom if you want to compete with people. Better, I think, to use your wpm to write content quicker.

    • I agree with this. You could be a killer content if you have a mind that can keep up with your fingers. How are your research and and outlining abilities? If you are skilled with those two talents as well you should be able to write a dozen quality articles a day. That could earn you...or somebody else, a lot of money.
