  • Thanks for the Heads Up. I can see him as The Doctor.

    • Not sure how I feel about this. Guess I'll just have to wait and see how he does.

Tennant and Smith are tough acts to follow.

  • I have never seen this actor in anything (except that DR Who episode of course, and I think that is a good thing. Yes David and Matt are hard acts to follow BUT each new Doctor puts his unique stamp on the character when he regenerates so I am looking forward to seeing what happens.

  • Yes! You are so right too. This is good because it means he has an appreciation for the Doctor and Torchwood from an acting point of view already.
  • Wow! I haven't watched a Dr. Who episode since Tom Baker.

I'm in the states by the way where the show isn't as popular. The Brits as do most of you folks in the UK, have a contrastingly different sense of humor than that of your cousins in America.

I was introduced to Dr. Who by my counterparts when I spent a year as an Exchange Officer in the US Army in England in the 80's. I found the show quite entertaining, although my work at the time did not allow for much television.

Back in the States I found out that the show was aired on our own PBS (Public Broadcasting System) channels. I believe Tom Baker was already replaced at that time and the shows were re-runs. I didn't know that it was still being aired today.

    • Yep, l can relate to that, Tom baker had the best storeylines, etc. Obviously not the special effects?

This doc, might act his age, or be another crackhead, going after endless slimy creatures; if it is the latter l will probably switch off, and find the Tom Baker episodes online!

    • It's not actually a comedy anyway.

The original run was 1963-1989. There was a TV movie in 1996, and the show was revived in 2005.

  • Doh! This the second time that I saw the title of the thread and thought, what, the Who have a new lineup? I should have remembered what this about after the first time I read it.
  • And here I was expecting a new band with the children of the original Who.

  • Having been out of the UK for some years now and not really followed up since Tom Baker. This announcement of Peter Capaldi taking over and stepping in the shoes of many passed actors of excellence, we shall just have to see what he can bring to the foe and I hope he really fits the bill
  • I tried but I couldn't get into Dr. Who but it must be good since lots of people love it.
