your friends can be your worst enemies in music
SO the first show I booked myself and promoted was a partnership between myself and a couple of friends.
we rented a venue, hired a DJ, bought drinks to entice people *it was a byob* and planned for a great night charging $10 at the door but free ciroc shots inside.
We invited a lot of other artists and our friends.. which ended up costing us all of our profits because everyone wanted in for free or at a discount rate.
that was very discouraging and we barely broke even in profits although we almost packed the building and brought in over 100 people.
From noe I focus more of my energy on strangers...
