    My favorites keep changing. At the moment I very much like all the books of John Le Carré (especially his "middle period" ones from the 1970's-1990's). I think he's been wrongly regarded for most of his life as "just a spy fiction writer" when he's actually a much better and more important writer than that description suggests.

    I saw that new movie of "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" a couple of years ago and then started reading more of his books.
