Journalists used to be such intense people. Now they are just actors who are fed scripts - and some pretty lame ones, to boot. Here we're practically instigating WWIII and what they are reporting about is that Miley is a tramp. I don't even watch the news now except if I'm doing something in earshot of the TV I'll leave it on if I need to know what the forecast is, then as soon as they tell me if I might get rained on out rock hunting that weekend, I turn the channel so they won't get ratings just because the TV is on. The TV is on for the roomie's dogs a lot, LOL - serious.

There WAS a time where americans would NEVER listen to something like RT. As for the example here? It is INCREDIBLE! SO MANY TIMES the idiots producing this stuff use a new odd word, or a word LAUGHINGLY INCORRECT, or, a phrase, and it is copied ALL OVER! THIS is a good example. But to say something like this is SO incredibly unlikely that to claim it is coincidence is enough to get you sent to the loony bin!

They HAVE repeated incorrect information about a virus! ******BIRD FLU******! BTW a news agency only a few weeks ago, like PBS with the first outbreak, said that they are AGAIN developing a new bird flue virus. I BELIEVE it was MSNBC this time.

BTW this was NOT about a bunny! It was trying to put a cutesy spin on a BAD ECONOMIC SITUATION! It was and is serious! The market has obviously been manipulated for a while, and the facade is crumbling.

Hmmmm, didn't quite hear that, had something to do with the Easter bunny getting his legs broken!!! LOL

Yep, true, Journalists used to find the truth and report it, now they are the puppets of politicians, and are too scared to report anything truthful that the socialpaths want hidden.

Movies like Capricorn One, and Superman, (the old one, not the crappy modern version) depict Journalists that go for the truth and report it, but not anymore!

It is just a myth, or a fairytale, although movies do indirectly give the masses a hint of the truth.

The last movie l saw was called, Elisseum, (probably spelt it wrong but close enough) that depicts the wealthy living forever in a massive space station, while the overpopulation Earth residents suffer in abject poverty with minimal health, and harsh working conditions, etc.

The movie has strong references to the French revolution, where they treated the poor like scum.

Also shows that the socialpaths need to be controlled, and so far apart from the wealthy individual sending a rover to Mars soon, that seems to be the only positive move towards taking the wind out of their sales.

Great movie by the way, but not a comedy!

I thought ratings were self-reported manually by Nielsen households. Are you saying that your TV reports your viewing habits?

Yeah! I can't speak to cable boxes(which MIGHT have a back door), but satellite doesn't have the power or license, and air does not have the ability, power or license, to record what channel you are watching! ALSO, even if they did, the TVs have *****NO***** ability to say what you are watching, and channels vary all over! Come to think of it, even CABLE TV boxes may vary, etc... I still remember when I was in CA, cable vision had TWO boxes, and most channels were skewed by 9, so channel 10 on one box was like 19 on the other.

Nielsen has what are called neilsen families, which are given a special report box. They ALSO may do random surveys.

Interestingly enough, I recently had long conversation with the CEO of a major cable provider on this very topic. Mechanically, yes, some cable boxes do have this capability today. It's the legal ramifications that scare his company from even thinking of turning on this feature.

Cable TV is a two-way receptor. Of course, Uncle Sammy wants to know what we are watching. Ever hear reporting on how many people watched some episode of something? That figure didn't come just from Neilson ratings. 10s of millions of homes have cable TV.

As I said, cable TV MIGHT be able to do it, MAYBE! But neilsen has always done what they might call demographic sampling. They sample a number of people in a demographic group and figure that ALL people in that demographic group would have acted in a similar way. So they might have 5 people in LA that are black and 20-30, and 4 watch a given show and they figure 80% of all blacks 20-30 in LA watched that show. If there are a million people in that demographic, it may be reported as 800000. It is like political polls.

TVs don't put out the info, don't have the power to, and there is no FCC license for it. Satellite doesn't have to power or the license. Unfortunately, Cable TV set top boxes COULD be made to transmit the INFO back, and wouldn't need a license, they ALSO control the channel, but I've never heard of it, and it could put nielsen out of business, at least for TV. RADIO ALSO doesn't have the power or license. AGAIN, they use nielsen!

BTW I may leave TVs on all day long on the same channel. I may even have them on a channel with sports! YEECH! If they are reading those boxes, things are SKEWED! I have TWO TVs hooked up to cable.

ANOTHER thing! Sometimes I only turn the TVs off! One of the units also can NEVER be turned off anyway! NOT EVER! If you EVER do anything to turn it off, like remove power, it resets and you must call them to have them set it up again! IMAGINE THE HORROR! I had it on for MONTHS with NO other box around! so they are GUARANTEED to have POLLUTED statistics!

The average home has only ONE of the boxes that can be turned off. MOST probably have AT LEAST one of the other boxes, and I bet the average family has 3-5! SO, assuming that the statistics were 100% absolutely undeniably PERFECT, 75% or more would be GARBAGE over 60% of the time! That doesn't sound like a very good system! Some families may even opt not to setup the main box for whatever reason.

I wanted to set it up in my livingroom, but my mother was here and I didn't want to give her ANOTHER reason to stay, so I setup the smaller one in my locked bedroom. Maybe some parent wants to cut a child off from TV or something, and may do the same thing.

The larger companies are not afraid to turn on this, or any other "Feature" they have access to. They are being paid very well to do so. I knew that in 1987 when I was researching business cases for US West AT and had access to the strategic marketing library at their AT building. There is no difference between Large Corp Operations and Government - all separation is an illusion.

Our gov is so completely fascist it's just beyond staggering that people are just now starting to notice it. I wonder if it always take people so damned long to recognize a fascist coup.

Anyhow - people keep storming about Journalists being liars. I wonder how many realize that media won legal the right to lie to us back around 2000 or 2001. Yet many seem completely and fully clueless about what kind of propaganda machine corporate media is. Corporate media sounds too benign, I guess - but actually when you say "corporate media" what you are saying is Government run media. And therein lies the beauty of the silent coup.

Did you know that several of the mainstream media are run by relatives of people in Obama's cabinets? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Think about that one for awhile.

    From the Washington Post:
The list of prominent news people with close White House relations includes ABC News President Ben Sherwood, who is the brother of Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, a top national-security adviser to President Obama. His counterpart at CBS, news division president David Rhodes, is the brother of Benjamin Rhodes, a key foreign-policy specialist. CNN’s deputy Washington bureau chief, Virginia Moseley, is married to Tom Nides, who until earlier this year was deputy secretary of state under Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Further, White House press secretary Jay Carney’s wife is Claire Shipman, a veteran reporter for ABC. And NPR’s White House correspondent, Ari Shapiro, is married to a lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, who joined the White House counsel’s office in April.
