What an amazingly inspiring story of a slightly disfigured young lady!

That was great. I wish everyone could feel on top of the world like she must have felt at least once in their life. Somehow I think the world would a little better.

Good performance, passionate, well-executed, and nice singing voice. Kudos to her mother as well.

She sings ok, nothing special though. What I don't understand is why this is an amazingly inspiring story?

Because inspiring stories help sell ratings.

This chick was hot, - what is she 14 or something? That's a set of lungs for an adult let alone a kid - it was the right song, and she's got soul - heavy amounts of very magnetic soul. Oh - yeah her arms are a little deformed. Might have helped give her the soul she needed to sing like that as young as she is. Ya think maybe?

I loved it. The song, her voice, the spirit. On her talent she could cruise through this one "without" a story.

She sings better than OK. Way better. Serious question -- are you tone-deaf?

What I don't understand is why this is an amazingly inspiring story?
It is hard to explain something so obvious or fathom how someone can miss it. Anyway, here goes. Individuals all face one challenge or another. Even the slightest disfigurement affects how a person is treated, even if it were just part of one's ear, a missing finger tip, or just a little toe. Clearly her more significant disfigurement, physical challenges, and partial blindness would have affected her life in myriad ways. Her passion for music and talent helped her rise above that, and that is inspiring. Maybe someone can explain it better than me (I guess HeySal already did)...

Joseph, thank you for the post.

I find it inspiring to see the combination of personality, character and courage in an individual.

        But that's just me.

Maybe I am. I know I can't sing to save my life but to me her voice just didn't sound anything other than slightly above average.

Sorry if I'm being dumb here, or maybe I just view things differently but just because she has a disability why is it so inspirational just because she can sing? Why shouldn't she be able to sing, she's not mute.

Thunderbird you read my mind, alistair must be tone-deaf! The passion that pours out of her and how she hits those vocals is what makes one person stand out from another.

Why wouldn't it be? I see so many people posting about struggling to become a success or even make a dollar. Now you have this young lady who has to overcome so many obstacles 24 hours a day, tying hers shoes, brushing her teeth, feeding herself and all the other things that most find simple are a challenge for this young girl.

The point I'm making and why I think that it's inspiring is that no matter what challenges most may have are nothing in comparison.

        ~Joseph

P.S. If I had to choose a song that describes this young women it would be,
        "You are so beautiful".

Well, I'm a fan of Rion Paige, thank you very much. We're watching the UK version right now. Rion is already a finalist for me!

    Thanks again.

Wow! What poise, what confidence, what positivity, what entheusiasm! Take that youngster's attitude and teach it to everyone on the planet. She loves what she does, and so does everyone else.

Even Simon joined in a standing ovation. That takes some doing.

Well, Rion made the conservative email circuit last week. A lot of the posts really have little, if any real political bent, though I could argue very few really do. I ALMOST posted it here, but thought only her story was remarkable. Maybe she should have sung a different song.

It looks like the drummer may have the same ailment as Rion.
