The more circumspectly you delay writing down an idea, the more maturely developed it will be on surrendering itself.
Talk about what you have written, by all means, but do not read from it while the work is in progress. Every gratification procured in this way will slacken your tempo. If this regime is followed, the growing desire to communicate will become in the end a motor for completion.

This is so true. I've noticed that if I have an idea for a book and let it sit and simmer for a while rather than starting work on it immediately, it begins to take shape all by itself. It's as if the book starts to write itself. It seems like it WANTS to be written and wants me to be the one to do it.

Thanks for the link.. there are some valuable writing tips in there.

    Joe,

I've found the more circumspectly I delay writing down an idea, the more permanently it is forgotten. Maybe something's wrong with me.
