Hmmmm, so what he is saying is provisional explanations are based on concepts derived from external propagation, which is compulsive of extended time frames in the context of becoming skeptical.

And that internal or external fear based irrational or rational fears and negative notions can in some cases, create a mind concept that will and can influence scientific extrapolation over time.

Hmmm, l am skeptical of that video!!!!

Ha ha ha ... now that's funny.

Maybe it would help if we changed the word skeptic to critical thinker.

Critical Thinker is the word I would use. Maybe Rational Thinker. Skeptic is a word that attracts derision.

It's easy to understand why, I think. Many who define themselves as skeptics or have been identified as skeptics by others have been known to have an agenda other than discovery.

The problem isn't the word, the problem is that those who say they are in the mafia aren't.

There is one more player here that needs to post before this is a perfect storm.

Please ignore this post. I typed it before I had my caffeine in the morning. I really shouldn't have posted on this thread.

No gloves. This isn't a contest. I shouldn't have posted. I take rational thinking very seriously, and I defend it when it needs no defense. please accept my apologies.

The only reason I haven't deleted my posts, is that I was quoted, and it would look strange..

Dennis; I know how this is going to sound, but the subject of rational thinking, skepticism, critical thinking (they really mean the same thing) is very personal to me. It's perhaps the only subject I get emotional about. Weird, Eh?

And I impulsively jump in with both feet, even though I know...know...I'm jumping into quicksand. It's a character flaw, and I don't see it going away soon.

Mostly though, I continually catch myself being a D1ck about it. And that's slowly getting better.

A propaganda term that does not mean anything today.

If you are against X, then you are a skeptic.

If you are not against X, then you are a sheep.

    Ahahahahahha.

It is like "Liberal" or "Progressive"

This reminds me of videos made by certain cults or religions trying to convince the public that they aren't as bizarre and unreasonable as they actually are. E.S.P has been thoroughly tested and discredited? And, (not that I'm a creationist), but how do you even test creationism? Ridiculous.

Yes, if something isn't proven in a laboratory it can't be true. I know you were making a lighthearted comment, but it is actually close to one of the main problems with skeptics/rationalists.

The very definition of "truth" or "facts" is rooted in dogma which is justified with jargon such as "peer reviewed" or double blind studies. Just as orthodox religion takes power away from the individual -by saying you need a human authority to tell you what God is all about- so science (at least the modern, dogmatic version of it) tells you to not trust your own subjective experience if it's not "proven."

For example, lots of people are cured from diseases through faith healing or unorthodox treatments. Others have psychic or mystical experiences or see UFOs. But we are told none of this is valid because it's only "anecdotal" evidence. What this really means is that anecdotes -i.e. our personal experience- is trivial and we should leave truth to the experts.
That's why it's often said that science is really a religion.

Yep, what authority is saying is that they need to keep control to keep things running or avoid mass riots, etc!

So if you accidentally have a out of body experience, for example, then you have to be nuts, (an OBE can just be seeing through your eyelids for example).

But of course when more and more people experience this sort of thing, (some are scientists) then we have to face up to some truths!

I recently saw a show on UFO's, (more gov, BS) that tried to explain away UFO,s and visitations as atmospheric electrical conditions. There was some good evidence for the visitation one, but it doesn't explain them all.

As for the all UFO's are natural, etc, that must mean that the Wiki-leaks UFO video l found with the top brass, seeing a red disk above a missile installation, as something else!

          Yeah, right!

Or it means that nuclear missile installations are run by delusional nutters!

I wish a UFO would land in a park and end all this mind BS!
