    MAN, this is such BULL!!!!!! FIRST, "phantom limb pain"? Pain is *******NOT******* created by damage or injury! According to most science, it likely NEVER is! GRANTED, there are some claims about certain paths, but they don't apply in most cases anyway! NOPE! Pain is created by stimulation of NERVES! When they cut off a limb, they injure a nerve, so it is anyone's guess as to what may happen. So you CAN'T say there is no stimulation.

    Labor is rarely, if ever, near 100% pain. In fact, the video ITSELF effectively says that. I mean how could a woman have a child if she drowned hours earlier. She WOULD drown if always vomiting. ALSO, I imagine that is RARE! I don't think I ever heard of a woman vomiting in labor.

    And I have known several women that said they had NO pain in labor! I have heard of many others. In my life, it has likely been DOZENS! Considerng I am not a gynecologist, that is ASTOUNDING!

    With regard to been kicked in the testicles, I have never heard of a man with unprotected testicles being kicked and not hurt. ALAS, I guess the only way to check it out would be to take a woman that had a childbirth that seemed at the normal pain level, opened up and not anesthetized, and hit the ovaries. If THAT didn't hurt much, then hit the kidneys. One of those should be similar to being hit in the testicles. ALAS, no woman would want that, and the doctor would lose his/her license.

    The testicles may be similar to the ovaries with respect to nerves and reaction because they are attached to the same place, etc... The second affected organ is the kidneys, which they are kind of attached to. A MAN, having no ability to know what childbirth is like, would have no ability to compare the two.

      As a woman, I have to say the idea that 9 months of gestation with the accompanying physical discomforts usually present - hours to days of intense labor and weeks of recovery don't quite match up to a kick in the balls to me.

      I guess you could argue both "pains" may be caused by a lack of protection and both involve reproductive organs....but arguing "my pain is bigger than yours" is a stretch.

      Then again, a woman produces a new life through the pain - and the man just limps off...so to speak.:rolleyes:

        Of course we can't compare the two experiences. All I'll say is I've yet to hear a man exclaim, a year or so after getting a kick in the balls, "You know, I think I could go through that again".

      I did with my first child. I have to say, it was because my husband had just eaten a peanut butter cracker and was talking in my face and the smell totally grossed me out. :p

        Wow, now THAT is bad! 9months of labor, and having to go through an ordeal that you have basically been told may be one of the HARDEST and WORST in your entire life, things may be teetering, you lose control, and your hormones are out of whack. You may be hypersensitive to things, etc... And after ALL that, your husband, that you may be looking to to help you, doesn't even bother to try to keep you comfortable?

        Frankly, from what I have heard, looking it it logically, knowing what being kicked in the testicles feels like, and talking EXTENSIVELY with some women about childbirth, here is what I think!

        MALE: Kicked in the testicles can hurt a LOT, possibly make you vomit and your kidneys hurt, etc. The pain can be EXTREME!

        FEMALE: The early part can be bad, but many males have dealt with similar things. In between, there are the cravings and the headaches and bad feelings you MIGHT have. Again, men have experienced that. There is the weight gain and all that you have, but some women don't even notice! If you are younger, and take care of yourself, it could be a non event much of the time, There are the labor pains, etc... I know SOMETIMES this DOES have an effect on the ovaries and the kidneys, and can APPROACH the pain of being hit in the testicles.
        Then there is the final labor. I have NO point of reference, but some women HAVE done it with NO pain! ALSO, many women ARE heavily doped up with epidurals. And MORE AND MORE women in the US are opting for a C section to avoid it entirely. HEY, some women are successful, happily married, and STILL have TONS of kids.

        Frankly, I would say it is a TIE at best, with maybe a slight edge to male pain. Of course, I think it only lasts a day TOPS with men(maybe HOURS near maximum), and about 240 days with women(maybe HOURS near maximum) so who knows HOW to grade that.

          I have never in my life heard any woman describe pregnancy as a "non event". If a man said that to me....I'd kick him in the family jewels.

            I was talking about the CENTER part, and I HAVE heard women say it! It certainly isn't true of all women. I never said it was!

            If a man said that to me....I'd kick him in the family jewels.

          No, he did try to keep me comfortable and was with me through the entire thing, for many hours. The poor guy was hungry and chose to get a quick snack and unfortunately, that snack didn't agree with me, haha. I don't blame him and we laugh about it now.             I'm glad to hear THAT!

            As for the kidney stones, I don't know. As I implied though, hitting the kidneys DOES come close. I was in a military school, and this jerk was FAMOUS for having a great "kidney punch". So I have the arguable honor of experiencing BOTH pains FIRST HAND. That was a kidney stone, but I know what a severe impact to the kidneys feels like. And the baby MAY kick there, but there is a LOT of insulation between the child and your kidneys. The amniotic sac, uterus, etc.... So it would likely be harder than that guy punching me through a much smaller layer of insulation.

            if pregnancy were only a day, I would STILL say that the pain of impact to the testicles is the WORST, only because I think such pain during childbirth would endanger the child and be SO bad to the woman that she doesn't want to try again. Besides, why would nature do THAT. The fact is that some women DON'T have a problem. Of course, it is NOT a day, and that makes the question harder to answer.

            And if you think I am unfair, imagine all the women that say that a man would never be able to handle having a child because of the pain. Kind of dumb on its face. Women have an organ MADE for it, and space is made for it. They have it exiting an orifice that is open and larger than the male equivalent, which is obstructed and covered. FACE IT! Women were made for it, and men weren't. If men DID have something done, like on junior, the pain the man would have to endure would be FAR greater! I doubt ANY woman ever survived such a thing. It is rare for a woman to have such a thing happen, but it HAS happened! I doubt ANY went near term.

    It's hard to say which hurts more because we have no idea what it's like to give birth and women will never know what it's like to be hit on the groin. We have different perceptions of pain depending on several factors including our experiences and the mood we are in. The experiences may be a lot different in many ways but it's safe to say that both would really hurt a lot.

    Childbirth has to be more painful. Yes, the jewels shot is horrible, but I can't imagine giving birth. Fughetaboutit-owww!

      well, my labor lasted 24 hours - it was supposed to be an all-natural delivery - but there were a few small complications, first they gave me an epidural and then they gave me drugs - once those both kicked in - I felt barely anything from the waist down.

      When a guy gets kicked in the jewels - I'm guessing it would hurt like heck - but the pain likely doesn't last for hours -

      some women's labor, like mine, can last for hours an hours, and the pain can be excruciating - until they take care of you - like they did me - :p

      I was never one of those women ready to go through it all again. Once was enough for me - but I never regretted any of it - and now I am blessed with a fine young man for a son.

      The pain was worth it.

      I can't see a shot to the jewels being worth it - can you?

        The FULL pain, NO, but they COULD be affected for quite a while. The chances of the same nerves(if they even exist in a woman) getting stimulated in a woman is HIGHLY unlikely! I doubt if even .01% may ever have that happen. They are nestled safely on top of your kidneys where as in males they are brought down to the scrotum. Of course, I have never even heard of studies even comparing those nerves. Getting hit in the testicles affects MORE than the testicles, and even that video stated that! It spoke of the vomit reflex being triggered, as well as te vagus nerve. Vagus nerve is a bit of a misnomer. It is REALLY like a secondary spinal cord. It controls a number of functions. The term means "wandering nerve", as it meanders down the body OUTSIDE of the spinal cord. Among other things, it even controls the HEART to a degree. The vagus nerve, so far as I know, IS the same in men and women, but you probably don't want some external force affecting it.

        I'm happy you love your child. And YEAH, I don't doubt it CAN be bad. As I said, I have no reference of how bad it CAN be, apparently some WOMEN don't either. Some HAVE told me it can be a lot less painful even WITHOUT epidurals.

    It's said that childbirth is the worst pain that a human can endure and remain conscious. Some men pass out just WATCHING it happen. There are drugs that they can shoot the woman with to ease that - and there are exercises that women can do to make it easier, but to say there is "no pain" when you pass something that size through a few inch wide opening is just obtuse. Even when women say that it wasn't anything "major" - if you were there at the time, you'd not have called it so. I've never ever heard of a woman who wasn't completely numbed by a drug having "no pain". That's ludicrous.

      WOW! You passed a baby through your RECTUM? That is odd! NOW, you are saying men can't stand blood or something? I have NO idea why some faint at such things. I have seen HORRBLE stuff, and don't even have nightmares!

      Some women have gone into restrooms, not even KNOWING they were pregnant, and just passed LIVE FULL TERM babies! One woman I spoke with said she surprised the nurses when she was up and about MOMENTS after she had her child, in the hospital.

    Having watched several children being born, I can say without any doubt in my own mind that having a child is much worse in the pain department.

    I know this because my wife and I have both gone through similar pains and we both have similar pain thresholds. For instance we've both been bitten by our children, and we both have had similar reactions when it happens. We've butted heads in a tickle fight - which would be an equal amount of force on each head - and we reacted just about the same. HOWEVER - I have never in my life had a reaction to ANY pain like the reaction my wife had during child birth. To suggest that a kick to the balls measures up is not accurate at all - unless you're just a wuss when it comes to pain - And most of us men are.

    And let me just add that overall it depends on circumstance, like the size of the child - and the amount of drugs the mom is on. But overall I'm certain that child-birth is much more painful.

      SO, it is YOUR contention that if you and your wife feel something with your hands the same way, that your eyeglass prescription, hearing, smell, and taste are the same? And THEN, you imply that some saying that they have pain after kicked in the testicles must just be WUSSES?

      That is ASTOUNDING! Have you talked to the medical board how the level of senses shows the levels of others? Do you have ANY idea how much money this would save? Why spend THOUSANDS on CT scans of my abdomen when I can just get an XRAY of my leg? WOW!

      It is like the guys that are in that video. I assume they are using electrical stimulation. Stimulating muscles both sexes have but that aren't so involved with child birth.

        Sorry but you are way off! A tie? Did you even read what the ladies wrote?

        I was in labor with my first child for 70 hours. They kept checking on the baby, but there was no indication of stress, so they let me continue. They didn't have the drugs they have now to induce labor and make it go quicker like they do today. I had nothing for pain, no epidural, I refused it when they told me it could effect my baby. I did vomit in labor, but then again, I had morning sickness throughout my whole pregnancy and vomited at least once daily.

        Second child, vomiting the first 4 months of pregnancy, 18 hours of hard labor, but all back labor. It hurt like heck!

        Third child, vomiting first three months. I was in labor for 12 hours before the contractions finally got to only 2 to 3 minutes apart then they completely abruptly stopped! Nothing, nada! They stopped for 18 hours! Did they start back up where they left off? No, but right back at 20 minutes apart again and took another 20 hours before my son was born! And let me tell you, those contractions hurt like heck!

        Oh, and when you are kicked in the groin, your opening at the end of your ah, (yeah that) doesn't get stretched to many times its normal size, tear and have to be stitched up again!

        As a matter of fact, forget what Sal said about the rectum and bowling ball. Think your, (yeah that) being stretched open and passing a watermelon!

        Tie? Maybe a little worse for men? Your are completely out of your league and mind, my friend!

          I was trying to generalize. In theory, it hurts for ALL men, but some women HAVE said things went pretty pain free, up and walking so soon they shocked the nurses, etc... As for vomiting I was talking about at the end. Sorry if some here actually DID. It IS common knowledge that many DO vomit or at least feel like it EARLY in the pregnancy.

          Of course, a man wouldn't vomit, and possibly wouldn't even feel like it, unless he was hit hard.

    Steve, I just talked to my husband about this and he agrees with you. Go figure... and no smirking...:p You men are apt to stick together on this as are us women.

    I guess, there is no way to know how even the pain is for either side. I've worked with many surgeons in my life and many have said that the closest a man will ever know what a woman goes through during labor would be for them to have a kidney stone. I can't compare the pain with a kidney stone myself, because I've never had one nor can I compare being kicked in the "jewels". This is just what I've been told by the General Surgeons and Urologists I've worked with.

    I do know because I've been through complete natural birth with my first and before the epidurals for the other two that all you want is for the pain to stop. I begged the doc to give me a c-section to stop the pain. I just didn't care, I just wanted that pain to go away. Of course, that didn't happen but the pain is so intense. I've never felt pain like that. Also, that pain, for most woman, when it's gone is gone and most of us are willing to go through it again for the life that's brought into this world. It's definitely the most intense, proud and special moments of my life.

      Well, NO surgeon or urologist could say that. Despite what ANYONE says, there is NO objective way to measure pain! HECK, a mother told me about a problem her son was having. He went to the doctor with an OBVIOUSLY painful and dangerous problem. The doctor was an idiot and asked him to rate his pain. He rated it middle of the road. She and her son both had AS and knew how one another were, and she bawled out the doctor, saying in part, that her son had a VERY high tolerance for pain and would rate the pain LOWER than most people.

      YEAH, doctors STILL ask how YOU perceive the pain. Nerve tests, brain scans, blood pressure, and pulse just DON'T cut it.

      I wasn't doubting it could be painful. I wasn't even doubting that it could at times be more painful than ... I was simply saying that being kicked is very painful and could be about as bad, and possibly worse for the period it lasts.

      But it is nice that you appreciate your kids so much.

    Take is as you will. I was just passing on what I've been told by the medical professionals. As I also mentioned, I don't know if there is any way we could actually/accurately measure the pain accurately between the two.

    I can't tell you if a hit to the jewels is more painful than giving birth. I highly doubt it. I'd much rather be kicked in the nuts than go through 70 hours of what is described as serious, serious pain.

    I can tell you this: the hardest shot I ever took to the junk was during a racketball match. My buddy had just drilled the ball off the front wall as hard as his six foot four frame could. I spun around awkwardly, sorta lifting my leg, and took the ball straight to the sack. I was on the court floor, literally drooling, unable to move or speak for 40 minutes.

    That shot was nowhere near the pain I had when I passed a kidney stone. That was like a midget was flowing through my urethra slicing it with a flaming piece of jagged scrap metal.

    Childbirth has to be much more painful, if not in intensity, at least in duration. Being hit in the groin isn't even the worst pain I've felt. When your back hurts so much you can even stand up, now that's pain.

    I think it was Lucille Ball who once advised men that if they want to know what childbirth feels like, take your bottom lip and stretch it over the top of your head.
