How did you pick your username?

I've always thought it interesting how people pick their usernames. This is my story...

First of all, I love animals, especially dogs. Second, my favorite breed of dogs are dobermans, hence, 'ms dobe' and my username was born!

I know, I know... I used to think the same way many of you think about dobermans, they're vicious killers. But times change.

I was working in Switzerland and my parents were living in Bangkok (keep in mind this was decades ago). They wrote me and said they got a doberman for a watch dog. I went berserk, after all, my parents were intelligent people and everyone knew dobermans turned on their owners - how could they be so stupid???

Well, on my way back to the States I stopped to visit my parents and had a chance to see 'Duke' in person. My dad picked me up at the airport and when I got out of the car at the house, Duke lunged at me. I had never been afraid of a dog in my life, but I was terrified of him.

Day 2 - After I woke up I thought I'd go out in the front yard and enjoy a cup of coffee. The front door was glass and as soon as I started to open the door I was greeted by a huge dog with snarling teeth. Scratch the coffee in the front yard idea!!

To make a long story short, it took Duke 3 days before he let me out of the house, but after that, we were best buddies.

I've had dogs most of my life, but must say there is something special about dobermans.

When I got back to the States, I went looking for a motorcycle (I ended up working for a year in Laos upon visiting my parents, and had bought a cycle - the main mode of transportation in the country at that time).

Instead of bringing home a motorcycle, I brought home a beautiful 6 week old blue female doberman puppy, whom I named Heidi. I have since owned a total of 4 dobermans, the last 2 being rescues, and I will only get a doberman from a rescue from now on.

They're a fantastic breed and totally misjudged by the public (and I was as guilty as anyone of this, so I can't blame anyone).

This has been a rather long story, but this is why my username is 'msdobe'.

BTW, my parents were the only Americans in Bangkok that were never robbed - thanks to Duke!!

So what is your story about your username?

I wanted my username to be my name. Now I just had to do research, to find out what it was. So I looked it up in my Senior High Yearbook. It wasn't there, because I didn't graduate.

I looked it up in the phone book, but my number was unlisted. No help there.

Eventually, I asked my wife what my name was, and that's why my Username was originally "StopActingLikeABigFatBaby"...But I found that this was too long.

And then I just called my very best friend. After I tried to explain who I was, and why I was calling. He told me he had Caller ID. And he said "Claude Whitacre, never call me again, or I'm calling the police!"

So that's where I figured out my Username.

          Whew!

Mine is part of my third company's 2nd name. The company was named based on what, at the time I knew I could provide that it seemed so few did, and I did it at a very low cost.

I saw "Thunderbird" email reader on my desktop and went with that. Not much thought went into the process in my case; it was much like a primitive insect responding to a challenge with a simple reaction.

Not much real thought into mine. Wherever I go, people say "hey Sal" so often that some people have mistaken my name for Hazel. Hey Sal this, Hey Sal that.

When I first got online I thought usernames were supposed to be numbers and I ended up in here with people calling me Zip Code. The mods were nice enough to let me get rid of the code and put an actual name up.

It's what people call me, however, I'd love to know the sheer complexity and mind power, let alone the enormous IQ and brain size that goes into some of the user names.

w3ns74gfoi is a phenomenal use of the mind as is bad67hiue and of course my all time favourite combination of special numbers - 36572345

These are the true brains of the forum. Not many people without a scientific calculator and the enigma machine, could come up with those.

Not too much thought for me.

I put Miss in front of Terra because I thought it sounded sassy and I do have a tendency to be sassy at times, so I thought it fit well and then just took the K from my last name Kern.

I thought that up all by myself too and didn't have to consult yearbooks, spouses, friends, phone books or caller IDs like some people.

WOW! It looks like the first 4 of your domain name. A friend, as payment for a space I let him, hooked up a new garage door for me. He programmed it wth my telephone number saying nobody would guess THAT. I pointed him to my address, which started with the same numbers. Just goes to show!

YEAH, I know it looks like your real name also.

This is how I got my username!

When I was younger I used to drive around in my automobile a 68 Camaro and I loved listening to Chuck Berry, my plate # was 7384.
