1. Eddie Murphy

2. John Belushi

3. Bill Murray

4. Billy Crystal

5. Jon Lovitz

6. Phil Hartman

7. Dan Akroyd

Best Weekend News Anchors:
Chevy Chase

Most overrated:
Chris Farley
Will Ferrell

    Those were all good.
But, the best were all of the original cast.

I loved Chris Farley and Will Ferrel. I think my favorite skit of all time is the "more cowbell" skit with Will Ferrel.

    But I like your list.

The only ones I'd add maybe - Steve Martin, Martin Short, Billy Crystal, and Adam Sandler.

On the most recent ones, it seems like the funnier ones always involve Justin Timberlake. He's been on enough that he could be a cast member.

edit - just realized that you have Billy Crystal on your list.

I don't think Steve Martin was considered a cast member? One of the best skits was the one where the bag of dog poo, lit on fire, was tossed on Martin's front porch...I can still hear him saying "Who would do a thing like that?"

I'd probably have Martin Short next on my list, or close to it. I'm not a big fan of Adam Sandler.

I also like most of Andy Sanberg's Digital shorts. And Schweddy Balls was another great skit.

And I think you're right, Steve Martin wasn't a regular cast member - I saw him so many times doing "wild and crazy guys" that I thought he was.

Is that list in order of your favorites or randomly positioned?

I can't argue with the names on the list, but I'd have John Belushi and Bill Murray at the top.

Steve Martin gets a place of honor as the best regular guest.

My favorite was Martin Short. That 60 minutes sketch is one of my all time favorite SNL sketches.

    Wish I could find it.

Here's one of them. I think they done a few 60 minute sketches.

The one I am looking for is "defective woopy cushion" one.

    Edit:Z

    I found it!

He did a character - I think the name was Ed Grimly or something like that -- anyway.........they made a cartoon of him -- The Totally Mental World of Ed Grimly (or whatever that character's name was). It was the most bizarre cartoon I've ever seen and I wish I could remember the correct name if that's not it. I'd love to watch more episodes of it.

I also liked the original cast best. There were a few good ones here and again since, but there was also a chemistry in that first cast that has never quite materialized again.

Kurt - you surprised me by forgetting about Gilda Radner.

I do appreciate the old SNL cast members, but Kristen Wiig stole my heart! It was a sad day when she left, she is FUNNY!

I would also have to add Jane Curtain, simply because the Coneheads wouldn't be complete without Prymaat. As the years went on, some cast members were better than others. I can do without Chris Farley but Will Farrell is a must on my list.

Also Tina Fey even if only to count her work behind the scenes. Molly Shannon is iffy but I loved Mary Catherine Gallagher- SupaStar!!

More recently, I'd have to add Bill Hader.

    Wasn't crazy about Ferrell.

I think most un-funny skit of all time was the Cheerleaders.

I was never a big fan of Garret Morris.
Although, he fit in well with the rest of the cast.
And, he did rather well in "News For The Deaf" bits.

Oh I don't know. I think Farley was pretty funny:

Favorite skits: Landshark, Killer Bees, Lovitz' liar, Coneheads, and Dennis Miller and Chevy's news. Have not watched for awhile.

I liked the Wild and Crazy brothers. Until my college roommate ruined it with
his constant and terrible impressions. Ahhh, dorm life.
