I don't know who belongs to this dog - I am forever copying images everywhere in particular animals and i know this one was some warrior's dog and he is just sooo cute.

I know there is 'fair use' with most public stuff but this is really somebody's dog!

I don't feel free to use it without permission - ok i will leave it in my album there and i won't use him as an avatar -and maybe this cutie pie's owner will say he/she doesn't mind me using their puppy either @ album or avatar.

He is like smiling so sweetly he should be the new smiley face.

Anybody know this dog?

Chipping won't work ironically here in digital world.

All I know is that pit bulls get a really bad reputation.

I have a pit bull, named Bubba.

(His name used to be "Bow").

I ordered him online from an dog-refuge place.. Somewhere down south. (Georgia or Alabama, I forget).

You know why they called him "Bow?"

    Cause when they found him...

He had an arrow in his chest.

Dog's had a good life though.

    Sweetest dog you'll ever meet.

Can pull him right up to you, and will never, EVER snip or bite.

    Dude's a southern gentleman.

(He even ran his own restaurant. Called "Bubba and friends").

    (Inside joke).

    Sorry for thread highjack.

I'm good at those these days.

    PS: Cool dog.

    Bubba would like him.

Thank you so much for rescuing Bubba. I would love to have a pit bull but our home insurance carrier won't cover us. My son and I worked pit bull rescue for over a year and I met dozens of the sweetest dogs in the universe during that time.

Hey you are welcome to bump this thread anytime - i expected at least all the dog lovers in the OT to come out to say how cute the puppy is.

Pits have more than a 'bad rep' - out this way, real people get maimed and killed by pits - not every day but regularly.

... it is more about the people that turn them into that - they are the ones that should be euthanized.

But I can dig really loving a pit puppy and have met a few that were just as sweet as they can be - but i would always have a fear that they could 'come off the wall'.

    It's a shame but it's true.

I hope you have many happy years with your buddy Bubba.

    Haha.

Yeah, my friend had a pit once, and it bit me in the arm.

    That's okay.

    I bite back.

    Bubba, he doesn't bite though.

    Stay cool

It's a misconception that a pit bull will "come off the wall" and "turn vicious". There are vicious pits but it's due to breeding for bad traits and to the people involved with those dogs.

It's a real shame what people have done to the breed - in the 1940's the pit bull was the #1 family dog in the US and known for their gentle ways. Now many of them are routinely destroyed becuase of what people think they "might" do. If it were up to me we'd put some of the dog owners to sleep instead....but....that's frowned upon for some reason.

My pit Gracie is the gentlest dog you can imagine. That puppy looks like a sweetie - and it will be if raised with kindness.

        Thank you Dan!

So he is like 'public domain'!?! You have emboldened me and I may, if I don't hear from anyone in 3 days of this thread, try him as my avatar and see if anybody says anything then!

Hi Kay - Yes thank you for reminding me that 'breeding' in addition to environment can be what turns them mean (explains my family too, lol) ...and that is hard to determine, especially in a 'rescued' pup.
(still much better knowing it is not just some strange 'voice' that causes the family dog to suddenly eat little 'Marky')...

p.s. I almost mentioned Gracie is somebody else who I also copied (bagged) her picture here because she looks so sweet - funny though I thought she was a white or yellow lab - she looks so docile! Please give her a hug for me from someone who loves animals vicariously because I am a commitment-phobe and 'can't' have one of my own.

Pat - Because an image is used all over the web does not make it public domain. It still could be a copyrighted image. However, it does make it less likely anyone will grumble about it.

Doesn't take bad breeding to turn a dog violent. All it takes is to keep them out in the yard instead of inside with the "pack", which is their normal social instinct. Not sure about all dogs - but if you leave a working class dog outside away from the pack it goes insane very rapidly. People should not be allowed to own dogs and not take them in with the family at night -- and I don't care WHAT kind of dog it is. It's extreme cruelty.

    Cute pit!

Not to go off topic, but I just have to post this pic. Not my boxer, but I've convinced friends and family it is (looks exactly like him):

It's got the mouth of my mother-in-law, but a dog's body (which, coincidentally, is how she treats me like). Sorry, got me stumped that one, although come to think of it she did seem rather friendly with the pit bull guard dog, on her weekly pension visit to the post office.

OK - Thanks Dennis - so he's not 'public' but he is what - 'social'?

There are so many conversations I would like to just be there with a warm pit bull smile!

Pat - It could be public domain, I don't know. I was just saying just because others are posting it doesn't mean it is public domain. You'd have to find the source. No easy task, that. There are probably nearly as many illegally re-posted images as there are legitimate images. There's a lot of misunderstanding about copyrights, not to mention people that just don't care if they're breaking the law or not.

By the way, that last image you posted most certainly is copyrighted. It's got a "dreamstime.com" watermark.
