I wonder if I am the only one who comes across totally stupid people.
I ask because I am currently running an ad in a classified site offering resume services.

The ad specifically tells people to give me their current resume so I can gauge what needs to be done.

This morning I got this reply.

I'm looking for the jobs give me any work.

Sent from my android
I did not include a name to protect the stupid. lol.

Are some people really that dumb?

Well, I got paranoid and clicked on because I was worried you were talking about me. YAY - it's not me, it's not ME!

Kidding aside.....yeah, there's a lot of them out there. Try not to run over them when driving - they do walk out in front of moving vehicles when they are allowed to roam loose by roads.

        Ummm - yes, some are.

I just downloaded some sheet music. It's a site I use frequently but they've added some "social" stuff to it.

Now it asks me if I want to tell people on twitter and FB what music I just bought. No, I don't. But that's about the 10th site today that has suggested I "tell others" what I just did.

Does that mean much of social media is just a humongous space in digi-land where tens of thousands of people are screaming "look what I did" - "look what I bought" - "did you hear what I said" ???

        Life gets curiouser and curiouser...

I would never call you stupid or dumb Sal. I know that some Warriors have their "moron" moments but that is way different to this clown.

I don't like being racist but I do find that it is usually people from countries such as India and Sri Lanka that are responsible for most of these replies I get.

I could never run them over as I no longer drive...by choice. Being blind in 1 eye and being on so many meds would probably make ME a danger on the roads, although from what I have seen, I still bet I would be a better driver than many others out there.

      Very likely thing to consider.

Also remember - if it's from some other country - the person isn't necessarily dumb - just doesn't know the language as well as they either think they do or should. Remember - a lot of people from those countries actually get jobs online that they can do when they find people who can communicate with them okay.

So during his entire two night stay, he did not once ask for help. Also,

At least I have to something to laugh at and I then I don't feel bored that much anymore. But of course, I don't hire them. My client would kill me if I do.

I totally relate. I even had one person who spelt their surname incorrectly, included a wrong email address and a wrong mobile phone number.

Another one added a reference for me to check and when I did, that person gave the potential interviewee a BAD reference.

I had another day when I was managing a call centre when I got a call from an agency wanting to get a reference for one of my staff.

Normally our policy was not to give references but I had to in this case.
I told the person that my employee had not turned up for work for the last 3 weeks, had not told me they were looking for a job and hadn't told me they wanted to use me as a reference.
I said "that was all I could really say."

I get people emailing me to do their resumes and they either leave their name off or give me a fake one to start with, even though my ad clearly says I won't reply if you don't include your name as a form of courtesy. I also say I won't ring mobile phones. Yet I get some that give me a mobile phone number, no name, no other info at all.

Steve ... that person did not have to give notice but it is etiquette that if you don't want to work somewhere, you actually resign., And you DON'T put them down as a referee unless you have done the right thing.

@Rigger...My ad clearly says I help people improve their resumes so they can get jobs. I don't say I find work for them.

The ad says to send the resume in a word doc format so I can edit it if they wish. 2 people sent pdfs before that which is why I include that bit.

So my ad is certainly not misleading.

I had a case like that. I was working in a call centre and I applied for a job as a call centre manager. I got the job the same day.
I went to my manager to ask how much notice I had to give.
She said 4 weeks. I asked how much annual leave owing.
I had about 3 weeks so I worked the week and then took my annual leave and started the new jobs immediately.

I also told her I got a call centre manager's job.
Earlier she had told me I wasn't capable enough to be a team leader in their office. So I won that in a few ways.

WOW! He has GOT to let us know how he can sleep and eat, and how he makes up the 1612 hours a year! But you have to hand it to him! At $7.4/hour, he would make $76960/year! And by eating no food, he would lose a TON of weight and the money would be ALL PROFIT!
