How many IM's here have been around longer than the forum?

From the looks of it it appears that THIS WarriorForum has been around since about November 2001: Internet Archive Wayback Machine

How many of you have been marketing online since before this current forum we're all using now? Back when this Warrior Forum was a Uni-Sol site?

      Hi,

      The actual forum, in the beginning, had the /forum
      directory on it to get to the forum, in early stages...

      If you look that up, the first record I find is Aug. 2, 2002

      I joined on Dec. 14, 2004, but already had dabbled for a few years!

      The original moderators seem to be:

      * Willie Crawford
      * Paul Myers
      * John Calder
      * Host4Profit
      * Admin (Allen Says)

      That is what I got from the first recorded page on the WBM.

        I remember buying a book that included access to the warrior forum and a page that link to loads of downloadable products.

        I'm pretty sure that was before the year 2000.

    Iain, I believe you are correct sir

    I also purchased one of Allen's ebooks that provided access to the earlier days of the WF and I'm pretty sure that was back around 1999 when I bought and had access.

    The forum link has changed, so that might have something to do with it maybe? I don't know, I'm no expert, but I know the WF has been around longer than I've been doing my thing.

      Tracy.

      That's right.

      It used to be TheWarriorGroup.com if I remember rightly?

      Seems like a lifetime ago!

      {Edited} Yep!, here's a page from Way Back When (March 2000)

      http://web.archive.org/web/200003032...riorgroup.com/

      You'll notice on the page that Allen makes mention of the Warriors being around for 4 years (1996)

    Interesting to hash out this history. I am curious as the urls though, I'd like to see what it looked like pre 2001

    I think so Iain, or something along those lines. I just remember the little army Sargent guy logo thingy

    I agree, it does seem like forever, doesn't it?

    I thought that, somewhere, Allen had posted a history of the Warrior group, but now I can't find it. I'm sure its beginnings were in '98 or '97, maybe a year earlier than that even.

    Maybe he mentioned it in the War Room, I just can't remember, sorry.

      I remember one of my customers sending me the link to the Internet Marketing Warriors when I was doing some design work for him and I'm pretty sure that was in 1999.

        David,

        No, they don't lie. But they don't have complete information, either. The first version of the Warrior Forum was at http://www.uni-sol.com/warriors

        IIRC, the group was started in 97.

        And yes, I was in the business before that.

    I was online since the Internet hit the public at low bitrate modem speeds and using the military access to systems in the early days but I never started considering using the Internet to make money until the late 90's and didn't hear about WF until a while later when you could only access it paid or via a paid product.

    That seems like a lifetime ago and we've had some interesting 'episodes' over the years as different personalities have come and (sometimes in a blaze of glory) gone.

    Whatever the history it's still one of the best places anyone getting started online could find.

    I've been here since 98.

    I can't remember the exact amount, but I think you had to pay something like $67 for some product that also included membership to the "world's greatest Internet marketing forum".

    The sales letter made forum sound incredible, and even though I don't think I was interested in whatever the product was, I knew I wanted into the forum.

    But I hesitated for days because back then $67 was a lot of money, and I didn't want to risk being disappointed.

    But I was slick back then.

    I did a little more sleuthing and found out that if you signed up for host4profit, for something like $24 a month, then you also got access to the forum.

    I remember laughing and thinking, I'm going to get access to the forum and save over 40 bucks. Then I'll just cancel my hosting account after the first month.

    It took me less than two minutes to sign up because I got a rush from 'sneaking' in with some savings.

    What pure genius on Allen's part.

    I can't remember how long I stayed with host4profit, but it was more than a month. But that's not really my point. The point for me was how quickly I went from days of hesitation, to signing up on the spot.

    Brilliant.

    I was a member back in the old uni-sol site.

    Think I bough 'Internet Cash Machines' and a Host4Profit account and that's how I got access.

      It's still not true. Just because someone owned/ran a site back in 1997, doesn't mean that THIS site has been around since 1997, at least not in my mind. But hey IM is IM right?

        What don't you believe?

        Allen Says created the Warrior site in 1997.

        Just because it's changed names a couple of times dosen't lessen the fact.

          Well I did originally think that uni-sol was some type of IRC chatroom or something, which would be silly. But after looking at it, it looks like at least he owned the site, which is a lot different.

    Got my start in Silicon Valley selling websites to realtors in 1994 - have been online full time since 1996 - I am pretty sure I started hosting with HFP in 1999 - and that was how I wound up here - but didn't actually participate for years - got sidetracked with building the payment processing side of my business 'empire' for a few years....the 'lost years'! I started Internet Marketing way back in June of 1996. Those we're the good old days when you could basically just spend a few bucks and rank for anything. If it was still like that today we'd all be rich

        For a while I always thought I started in 1997...but the way-back machine only shows my site from 1998 on. Perhaps it took a little longer to build it than I remember.

        God, what a horrible looking site it was back then. Paid close to ten thousand dollars (it was a big site) and that goofy webdesigner put every spinning monkey and do-dad on the site he could lay his hands on. He was like a kid with a box of 64 Crayola crayons and felt the need to use every one of them.

        The copy was crap, but boy was he proud of those spinning monkeys...

        Sure wish I had known of the WF back then.
