How do you take good care of your eyes?

Greetings!

Recently, I have noticed that I have many floaters. I went to an Opthalmologist and did not find any problem.

Can you share how do you manage to take good care of your eyes?

If not all, most of use are spending on computers more than 8 hours a day, plus the stress in life.

Do you take some food supplements?

This one looks promising, Herbs: Ginkgold® Eyes - Supports the retina and its adaptation to light and dark conditions.

I am eating carrots, guava, and grapes everyday and hoping to see some improvements on my eye sight.

I tried my best to sleep 8 hours a day too.

I checked it on amazon and so far the reviews are great.

However, I want to know your thoughts.

I have read about bates method as well.

Please share.

Thanks,
G.B.

    Floaters and blurred vision.

One thing people on computers do is blink less, so our eyes get dry. You probably won't notice that unless they got real bad, but they do get drier.

My eye doctor recommend I use eye drops, the natural tears kind, not the get the red out stuff.

Also take frequent breaks. Every 10-15 minutes, take a minute to focus on objects at different distances, all farther away than your monitor. I look at different things out the window in the daytime, and across the room at night.

Turn down the brightness on your monitor. Use an anti-glare screen if your monitor isn't anti-glare. Move any lights so that they aren't causing a reflection on your screen. If you can't move the light, reposition your monitor.

    Hope that helps.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Do you have many floaters too?

I am doing the eye exercise for a month now. Hopefully, I can feel some improvements.

Yes. My eye doctor told me there wasn't any exercises you can do to for eye strain, which is essentially what CVS is (CVS = Computer Vision Syndrome). If you Google "computer vision syndrome" you'll find some information on it. I'm not sure if floaters are part of it, most of my troubles are from blurred vision, although it seems the floaters increase as my vision blurs.

I am lucky with respect to flooaters, I apparently don't have any. From what I understand, there is no real treatment for that and they are considered a nuisance but not a big problem.

There are probably like 8 things that could affect your eyes.

    1. Floaters. I don't believe there is a treatment.
    2. Lens deformation or hardening. Again, not really a treatment, but this is where lasik is used. Also glasses, cataracts, etc....
    3. Retinal detachment of some sort. I don't know if there is a real treatment, though there are some surgeries.
    4. Nerve problems. Happily rare. Maybe vitamin B could help.
    5. rod/cone problems. Outside of genetic problems, A is good(carrots are one vegetable that have a lot of betacarotene that can produce vitamin A)
    6. Clouding of lenses, like cataracts, a simple surgery could quickly help.
    7. retinal nerve damage, like retinitis. It looks like this is usually an immunity problem.
    8. blood vessel damage. Prevent clots, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, etc...

Well, it's been summer so I've spent a lot of time outside watching scantily dressed young men with rock solid bodies.

Now that winter is coming though - I do get up from the computer fairly often and look outside. Looking at things far away for a few minutes fairly often seems to help. Diet, yeah - a lot of raw foods. I try to get a lot of blue and purple tinted berries.

If my eyes feel tired, instead of straining them, I go get a warm washcloth and just lay with that over my eyes for about 10 minutes.

    So far, so good.

    Hello,

Diet and regular upkeep are two important factors in taking care of your eyes. Eye exercises can restore your sight. Your eyes are the window to the world. It's important that you take care of them. Good eyesight is crucial, but are you doing all you can to protect your vision? Whether you're mowing the lawn, playing racquetball or flying across the country, here's how the experts say to take care of your eyes.

    * Grate half a cucumber, strain it and keep in the fridge to cool. Take two pieces of cotton wool dipped in rosewater and the cold cucumber juice and place these on your eyes this will relax your eyes, cucumber juice will also lighten the darkened area around the eyes, especially when combined with lemon juice.
    * Prepare black tea and allow it to cool. Soak cotton is cold tea and use as eye pads.
    * Crush mint and apply around eyes. This will reduce Dark circle around the eyes.
    * To maintain eye-health and lower eye tension, there are several easy exercises. For the self lubrication of eyes, either blink your eyes rapidly for fifty times or rotate eye balls in complete circle, first clockwise and then anti clockwise, several times.

Also follow any instructions from your eye doctor
-get a dilated eye exam at least every 2-3 years
-report any eye changes or changes in your vision to your eye doctor as soon as possible
-wear safety glasses whenever needed (at home or work)
    -wear sunglasses with UV protection
-don't look at the sun or into lasers
-leafy green veggies and antioxidants can help prevent some eye diseases
-eye washes/scrubs can help keep your lids and glands clean

    Have a great day

I actually complained to my eye doctor about my tired eyes and blurring. The thing that scared me was that sometimes at the end of the night my eyes would stop working together and I would get dizzy. The eye doctor created a special pair of computer glasses for me and all my problems disappeared.

    I love these glasses!

I am not a doctor, but if you are having floaters, maybe see if any of the medications you take can potentially cause them as a side-effect. I use alcohol wipes to clean my glasses fairly frequently. I also will blink fast sometimes when I am alone to try and work the tiny muscles in my eyes. Try any or all of that at your own risk.

If the floaters appeared suddenly it might be because your vitreous detached. This is not harmful, but the floaters will be a drag for awhile.

I've found that vision exercises have done wonders for my eyes. I think I even have less eye strain. You should check out nomoreglasses.net.

I thought you were going to say something like "I squint when I look at porn."

In fact, I only came to this thread when I saw that you posted.

Now, I'm going to shut my eyes, to rest them..and think of porn.

The best thing I've done for "computer eyes" is set my background to a very light gray rather than white. Makes a big difference as the glare is greatly reduced.

I also look away from the monitor frequently and focus on something else in the room.
