Can You Believe it? The season begins!

Some random thoughts....

My Orlando Magic looking pretty good against Indiana.(42-40 at the half)

Don't know if Nelson,Afflalo or Davis will be with us at the trade deadline.

Magic ownership caught a clue and have lowered ticket prices.

AND a certain Mr. Liberator seems to owe me for D12 going to Houston.

BTW, Fakers aint gonna make the playoffs this year, T.L.

Miami- San Antonio rematch in the finals.

Magic get the eighth seed in the playoffs.

Even if totally healthy, I'm not nearly as optimistic about my Nuggets as I was last year. I think we'll be a better shooting team, but that's about it.

And, we're not even close to being healthy, with 3 starters hurt, not counting Galinari who is out for a couple of more months with the ACL injury he had last season.

    How dare you?

(Oh, I forgot we're not NBA champs anymore so I must be a bit more humble.)

You were right about Howard not signing with my Lakers. I say so what and who needs him?

I don't think he was Laker material to begin with and Houston can have him - LOL.

He's happy being a big fish in a small pond - so more power to him. Plus I heard Kobe was seriously getting on his nerves and he didn't want to play another possible two years with him.

If you had taken me up on my offer, I would be really singing your praises right now but instead you get a lonely - your prediction was correct and I'll add that you also know what we say about broken clocks right?

Good luck to your Magic cause you're going to need it.

Looks like college basketball phenom JJ Reddick has moved on and hooked up with the Clippers. I saw him last night as we beat the Clippers in the season opener.

What's his problem? Is it his inability to move without the ball?

No one moved without the ball to get an open shot like Hondo - no one.

    Enjoy the season!!

Redick developed into an awesome guard while in Orlando.
Clippers are lucky to have him.

      and Au contraire mon frere....

No doubt, Shaq ticked me off.
He continued to do so throughout his career.

Howard? not so much. The kid was spoiled by the organization. And was the major factor to Stan van Gundys demise.
Yup, he was the most dominate big in the game, until the peripheral bs ( and injuries). He got really crap advice from his handlers.
I was thrilled to see Howard go to LA. Why not send the circus to the Clowns?

Your allegiances aside, think about it.
You are D12. Youre 28, with maybe 5 seasons left. You want a Ring. You want to be THE guy on the team (again...).
LA? nah, man. gettin old. Kobe's no fun. got no supporting cast.
Houston? Yeah,Man. Young team, got some talent, could win a couple rings. I would BE THE MAN (again..).
And in a couple years, maybe Back to O-town. (dont laugh, i know how the kid thinks, sorta )

As far as your wager? If I am wrong I will say so, and reveal the reason why I dont like the Fakers.( Its not as obvious as you think).

      Peace!
      Enjoy the finals!
      Ah-HEM!

Klay Thompson was super hot last night. 15 for 19 I believe. Hopefully he can stay hot for a few games in a row which he rarely has done his first couple of years. I'm liking the start of my Warriors and beating the Lakers by 30 is always nice.

After getting roughed up by Indiana, and losing a squeaker at Minnesota,
The Magic get their first win tonight.

The second team played a majority of the second half, Kyle O'Quinn and Andrew Nicholson look promising. Afflalo had his second big game in a row,30pts.
Oladipo still looking very rookie-ish, definitely has had some flashes of brilliance,
And I am stoked for his upside.

        Great potential with this team.

Lifting my boycott, going to some games this season

Aaron Afflalo is one of the most underrated players in the NBA. It's a little ironic that he was almost considered a "throw in" in the big trade last year, but he actually gives his new team the most value.

In the 4 team trade last year:
LA got an injured Dwight Howard for one year.
Denver got Iguodala for one year.
76ers didn't get a single game out of Andrew Bynam

The Magic got Afflalo for at least two years (maybe more???). I'd take two years of Afflalo over one year of Iguodala, Bynam or Howard any time.

Hindsight shows it was a lose-lose-lose-win trade.

He has stepped it up. He wasn't healthy last season, and not to productive.

GM Hannigan may still use him as trade bait, unfortunately.

The Org seems bent on harvesting picks. Ok by Me. They have done well so far.

?? Who you talking about TL? I thought "we" for you was the Lakers? Are you finally coming to your senses.

I love seeing Miami lose two in a row. Some interesting things going on in the NBA so far. Hopefully the DUBs can not commit 26 turnovers tonight and beat the Kings. I couldn't believe Curry two nights ago: 38 points, hotter than hell but commits 11 turnovers! :/

Even enhanced interrogation techniques couldn't tear me away from my Lakers.

The Lakers/we were 1-0 and undefeated since we won the first game of the season but have lost the last two in a row.

So, after years of being forced to listen to me go on and on about the Lakers, you seem more than ready to bask in the limelight of being the top dog in the division.

I'm sorry I was pushy and arrogant in the past. (not really - LOL!)

Enjoy your success while it lasts my friend because you know it's not going to last more than 2-3 seasons max before we re-tool with more great deal-making and/or draft choices and return to claim our historic throne.

We would have had Chris Paul if the league had not jumped in and killed the deal. I suspect the league office is also tired of Laker Domination and I'm sure there's a league wide conspiracy working against our interests.

Mark Jackson has done a great job with the team and if anyone else is to represent the Pacific division I'd rather it be you and your beloved Warriors instead of the Queens, the Fail Blazers or the Slippers.

But your Warriors had better be careful or they could end up like the Warriors in that 1970s movie named Warriors.

Hey, is anyone else here a NBA box score fanatic? I've been checking out boxscores for NBA games since I was a kid on about a daily basis during the season. I don't look at every game but I would I would guess I check out about 50% at least. Takes a few minutes each time and I get a good feeling about who is playing well as a team and individuals.

Here's something I noticed from last night in the box score for one of the games: The Pelicans ( terrible name ) had 19 blocks last night! That's a huge number. They have had a slow start but I think they will be a much better team this year.

Sumit, the 76ers did win and the warriors play them on Monday. They are a surprise team so far. I'm looking forward to that game.

I am very happy the NBA season is back. Basketball is my favorite sport to watch. I also find it funny how everyone is already counting the Lakers out. I think they did that last year to and they made the playoffs. The reason this happens is because the Lakers have something most teams just do not. They have a tradition of winning and their fans expect only the best.
I won't deny that this year is going to be a tough one. Kobe's status is unknown and there really is no one great to speak about. I still believe when the end of the season comes the Lakers will be a part of the playoffs.

Regardless who wins I enjoy watching the games. They are still saying Miami is the favorite but its very hard to 3 peat. Very few team are able to do it. Well just have to wait and see what happens.

Kind of a slow start to the season for my Nuggets, but we go tacos for the first time this year tonight. What makes it muy bueno is that we went tacos in a win over TL's Lakers, 111-99. Looks like their tasers ran out of batteries.

Just be glad you're not a Bucks fan. They only dressed 8 players last night because that's all there were healthy enough to play, and they lost one of them before the night was over. They also blew a 19 point lead.

I love college basketball, but I'm not really an NBA fan. I got a little bit interested in it this year simply because they made wholesale changes. New head coach and turned over the roster with 11 new players. I thought it might be interesting to see how that came together on the court.

So far, not too good. They're 2-5 I think. They've got some potential, depending on how the young players progress. So far their 2nd round draft pick is playing better as a rookie than their first round pick and half the veterans. The announcers call him "jack rabbit" but I don't know that's his nickname or one they gave him.

He has done an 180, attitude wise, this season.
Last season, he did not embrace his role, and got hurt to boot.
He has assumed the veteran leadership role on the team, and is leading by example.
I hope Rob Hennigan(Magic GM) holds on to him, since all signs are pointing to an eventual Jameer Nelson departure.

Yeah, that was one of the troubles with the previous coach. Some guys never got much of a chance. Harris was one of them. Skiles should have been canned at least a year sooner than he was. I don't know about Drew yet. He's a refreshing change at least. He's got a tough job right now trying to make something out of this roster.

The Warriors' season has been disappointing so far. They are among the worst in the league in turnovers and are terrible in shooting free throws. Plus, they seem to get off to slow starts and go through long dry spells of bad shooting. They were terrible last night in a truely ugly loss to Houston which had my gf and I cussing the hell out of the TV.

Although it's been a disappointing season so far, their have been a couple great games. One I went to in Oakland when the Dubs won on a last second buzzer beater by Igoudala against the Thunder. The place went nutts after that shot! Another great game was the comeback win a couple nights ago against Toronto after being down by 27 in the second half!

Here's the last couple of minutes from that Warriors win against the Thunder I went to. It's funny, the couple in front of us left disgusted after Westbrook made his three. ( By the way, a couple weeks later in Oaklahoma Westbrook returned the favor with a buzzer beating game winning 3 against the Dubs. :/ )

8-0 for the Pacers. We get the aforementioned Bucks tomorrow night. It should be a slaughter, but then, my Colts should've slaughtered the Rams, too, and we saw how that worked out.

@ Sumit - Yep, that's the guy. Now I see where the nickname came from, the announcers gave it to him based on the college team.

Yeah, I know. He nailed 8 of 11 three pointers. You do realize I was comparing Wolters to the Bucks own first round pick, right? And hinting that the Bucks first round pick wasn't doing very well. He may have a bright future, but he's a project. The Bucks drafts have pretty much sucked for a long time.

Oh, I'm sure the Pacers will be 9-0 after the game. Unless the Bucks get someone back or sign someone, they'll only have 7 players available. Kind of hard to win with numbers like that, especially when half of them were supposed to be role players instead of starters. By the end of the Magic game it seems they were too fatigued to hold the lead.

I went to my second Warrior game of the year last night and unfortunately saw Kurt's Nugget's defeat my Warriors. Man, those Nuggests are pesky. Not much defense played on either side but it was fun.

By the way, I went with my girlfriend on our 1 year anniversary. Yep, she chose going to the Warriar game over a nice romantic dinner. What a gal I got!

There's some interesting stuff going on in the NBA this year. I think the title is really up for grabs this year although Indiana looks to be the front runner now.

The Nuggets have been really up and down. We started off slow, went on an 8 game win streak, then a 7 game losing streak, and now have won 6 out of 7.

I think new coach Brian Shaw is finally starting to figure out that this team needs to run. When we push the tempo, we're pretty good.

So Indiana appears to be over rated perhaps. Looking at how the Pacers are playing Western Conference teams this latest road trip makes me think the devide between the Eastern and Western Confrences is bigger than I thought. The Pacers look very beatable. OKC looks like the top team now. Portland and the Spurs are probably next. Then the Pacers and the Heat. My Warriors are playing like shit really, but it's still early.

I really don't want to see the Heat in the finals again and Indiana has a real chance to beat them in the east finals especially if they have home court advantage.

The west has more good teams but we'll have to see if their rep can knock of the eastern rep in the finals.

        Enjoy the season!

I'm with you on that one TL.

The surprising Suns beat the Pacers again last night in Indiana, only the second loss at home for Indiana this year. Goran Dragic looks like the real deal, another excellent point guard in the west.

My Warriors had a good game and beat the Clippers easily last night. At halftime the Warriors had over 40 points scored in the paint and their defense kept LA out the paint all night. They didn't shoot threes well but didn't need to. I didn't listen to Barkley or Shaq at halftime because they don't know what they are talking about regarding the Dubs. The last time the Warriors played on TNT Shaq didn't even want to talk about the Warriors and dismissed them as a team that just shoot threes. BS. The Warriors can score inside and do score inside at a high rate. Their defense is ranked 4th in the league for opponents field goal % and 11th in points allowed ( which is only that low because of the fast paced Warriors offense ). Now, if the Warriors can just be more consistant in their effort and the 2nd team step it up I will be happy.

By the way Kurt. Igoudala has been a bit of a disappointment on offense. I realize he is an all around player but wow... has he been off on offense the last several weeks. Was he like this at Denver?

AI was dissapointing for us as an offensive player. He seems to have the skills, and can score in transition, but his shooting was weak. I believe he shot under 60% from the free throw line last year for us.

IMO, part of his problem is it seems he doesn't want to score, as if he's almost afraid to.

BTW, we have the Knicks first round pick this year as part of the Smelo trade. We did trade a first for AI last year to Orlando (in the 4-way deal), but we get our choice of the higher draft choice. As it stands now, we have two lottery picks to choose from.

Bingo. That's how I feel about him. He seems almost afraid to shoot sometimes. Many times actually. A good example was last night when he got the ball on a fast break and had only one defender around him. He got to about 8 feet away from the basket and passed the ball to Klay Thompson in the corner who shot a brick. Klay was cold all night ( 3 for 30! and that is almost normal forhim lately. :/ ). Iggy should have drove to the basket to at least get a foul.

The thing is Igoudala was playing great offense earlier in the season. He was shooting around 48% for his threes, making great passes and getting plenty of assists. Now he seems like a head case and he's been around too long for that. I used to expect the ball to go in when he shot a three now I think I would rather see Bogut shot a 3 than Iggy. Thompson and Barnes are also in extended shooting slumps. If it wasn't for Curry, Lee and Bogut we would be a lottery team.

The Bucks are on a pace to have the worst record in the NBA this season. As such, they'll have one of the top three picks, depending on how the lottery balls bounce, correct? Let's just suppose they get the top pick. Who should they draft?

Also, in the NFL and MLB teams draft in reverse order of their finish. In the NBA they have the lottery. Do you think there are any reasons for not giving the worst team the first pick, or is the lottery just a publicity gimmick? (I think the latter.)

Dennis, I believe the main reasoning behind the lottory in the NBA is to keep teams from "tanking" to get a top pick.

This draft is supposed to be a strong one. We won't know who will be in it until after the season ends though. Some top players are: Joel Embiid a 7' center who plays for Kansas and has a huge upside. Jabari Parker of Duke. Andrew Wiggens of Kansas. Marcus Smart of Oklahoma. Julius Randle of Kentucky. I watched Randle play last week and he looks like a future NBA star. It may be hard to pass up Embiid though because athletic 7 footers are rare.

I've heard of Embiid, Parker and Wiggins as potential Bucks picks. Exum is another name, not sure if that's the spelling. If you were the Bucks GM, which one would you pick?

Speaking of the GM, my guess is that next year will be John Hammond's last as the Bucks GM if they don't make some serious progress. Maybe it could even be this year... having the number one pick might be an incentive for a new GM. They've only had one .500+ year under him, and this year is a nightmare.

I thought Drew was going to be a better coach, a unifying force, but there's infighting, the starting line up seems to change every other game, and I'm not so sure he hasn't lost the team already. Maybe he just doesn't have enough talent to work with, it's hard to tell at this point.

I don't watch enough of the college game anymore to have an informed opinion about that really. I think you do have to pick the best available player instead of trying to fill a need though. A good example of not doing this is the Warriors picking Epke Udoh ahead of Greg Monroe and Paul George a few years back. :/

I'm looking forward to the all star weekend activities today and tomorrow. They have already started yesterday actually with the celebrity all star game ( Kevin Hart is funny and the secretary of education can play ball! Snoop Dog even looked like he can play. ) and the up and comers game ( great shootout during the game between Tim Hardaway Jr and Dion Waiters! ).

Today Harrison Barnes is in the slam dunk contest and Stephen Curry, who President Obama said was the best shooter he has ever seen, is in a couple events, the 3 points contest and the shooting stars event which will pair him with his dad Dell Curry against other teams including Tim Hardaway Jr and Sr.

Here's Curry warming up today with other all stars shooting half court shots. No body else made even one and Curry makes 3 in a row!

Curry sucked in the 3pt contest and didn't shoot well in the all star game either. Barnes was even worse in the dunk contest! Terrible.

Did anyone else see what happened between Lebron and Bill Russell? Lebron named his nba mt Rushmore and left Russell off, naming Oscar Robertson instead. Dumb. I couldn't believe it when he said it. So Bill Russell said this to Lebron according to Craig Sager:

"Hey thank you for leaving me off your Mt. Rushmore. I'm glad you did. Basketball is a team game. It's not for individual honors. I won back to back state championships in high school. Back to back NCAA champsionshps in college. I won an NBA Championship my 1st year in the league. An NBA championship my last year. 9 inbetween. And that Mr. James is etched in stone."

haha. Good catch. I was surprised though that even Russell, one of the classiest people in sports and pretty mellow at 80 years old, seems annoyed at Lebron.

It's hard to keep interest in the NBA this season with my Nuggets so painful to watch.

    We've lost to injury:
Ty Lawson (should be back in a week or two)
    Gallinari
    Nate Robinson
    Javale Mcghee

And Andre Miller has been suspended because he doesn't get along with Brian Shaw. That's basically 5 of our top 7 players out.

Add that to Shaw not doing a good job coaching...It seems like this type of thing aways happens when you fire a good coach (George Karl) because he doesn't win the "big one". If you fire a good coach, even if he isn't perfect, you better replace him with someone better, and Shaw isn't better.

Shaw has done things like making a rule that players can't wear the endoresed shoes of another player when you play against that player. For example, you can't wear Lebrons when you play against the Heat.

Shaw also banned the players from eating nachos and pizza in the locker room before a game, which effectively means I will NEVER play for the Nuggets.

If you're going to make up dumb rules, you better be winning.

Firing Karl was crazy unless they had Phil Jackson ready to replace him. Karl's going to get a job soon I expect. Maybe with my Warriors if they don't start playing better.

Shaw also banned the players from eating nachos and pizza in the locker room before a game, which effectively means I will NEVER play for the Nuggets.

If you're going to make up dumb rules, you better be winning.

        Larry Brown
        Doug Moe
        George Karl

And what do all three have in common? They are all from the Dean Smith's/Carolina coaching tree. This means all three liked to run and push the ball up the court.

With Denver's altitude, running teams have a big advantage. The few times we've been successful this season is when we pushed the ball. Shaw's slowdown, Indiana, inside out offense doesn't play to the team's strength or Denver's altitude.

I like the trade we made to get Steve Blake although I am going to miss Kent Bazemore. He's a good guy to have on a team for moral and really has a lot of talent/potential. LA just might be the perfect place for him now. Perhaps he will be the next Jeremy Lin type player to leave the Warriors and do well somewhere else.

For you Lakers fans check out this article about Bazemore:

Everything Lakers Fans Need to Know About Kent Bazemore | Bleacher Report

By the way Rob, I was reading about Glen Davis being released because I know the Warriors are interested in him and thought that the Magic may have a good thing going with their young players Oladipo, Affalo, Harris etc... Then I saw some of the game last night when they beat the Knicks. Things are looking up for Orlando I think.

Just be glad you're not a Bucks fan. Worst record in the NBA. Worst team in franchise history. Cleveland sat their starters the whole game the other night and the Bucks couldn't win. Only 14 wins and they may not win another game. I'd hope the Ping-Pong balls are nice for them but they'd probably screw the pick up anyway.

They've had some good teams and good players over the years, but it's been a long, dry spell. Some of the blog commenters on the Milwaukee newspaper site are saying the city/state should just let the Bucks leave town. It's kind of sad it's gotten that bad. Of course, if the Bucks did leave town many of those same people would be the first ones complaining about it too.

Those teams lead by Moncrief were pretty good also.

I loved the way he trotted up court after a basket and the greatest alley-oop I've ever seen was one by him against the Celtics.

He started in the right corner and it seemed like he came down from the rafters.

Don Nelson is one of my favorite coaches and he certainly had some great teams with the Bucks. People knocked him because they said he couldn't coach defense but the Bucks were a very good defensive team back then. Wow! An unexpected twist to the Warriors playoff series has just hit the world: Owner Donald Sterling is caught in a racist rant with his girlfriend telling her, among other incredible things, don't be seen with blacks and don't take them to his games! She is half black by the way. Unbelievable! I wonder how this will affect the Clippers? How would anyone want to play for this guy now? Will the NBA fine him or kick him out of the league? More importantly, will this help the Warriors win the series? lol

Just saw this because of your post about the Clippers owner (unreal if it's true - not doubting you, I just don't take things like that at face value until I've looked into it, which I haven't. There are too many lies and out of context reports made not to be cautious about what you believe these days).

Yeah, "Nelly" was a good coach, IMO. Better than any other coach they've had since I've lived in Wisconsin.

Speaking of the Bucks . . . did you see they were sold for 550 million? lol - 15 wins and worth that much. The two new owners (two investment bankers) pledged at least 100 million toward a new arena, and outgoing owner Herb Kohl also pledged 100 million toward a new arena.

There's a lot of relief among Bucks fans in Wisconsin now, because without a new arena the Bucks would have likely had to leave the state. Kohl made it a condition of the sale that the new owners would keep them in Milwaukee.

He wasn't a good owner as far as fielding a winning team, but it wasn't for lack of trying or caring. He has been a GREAT owner as far as keeping the team here. Tip of the hat to him for that.

We do this a lot. Opposition players get all sorts of career bests against us. I sure didn't expect this guy to get 29 rebounds though! Good grief! Damn, the Warriors can play bad sometimes! So inconsistant!

Speaking of playing bad, Indiana looks like crap now. We'll see if they can pull it together tonight against Miami, but they are playing terrible. They just barely beat the Bucks the other night. ( Sorry Dennis. )

I wouldn't count on it. Your Lakers don't have Jerry Buss or Jerry West to build the team anymore, or Zen Jackson to coach it. Not to mention, Kobe is old and brittle and won't play much more.

At least my Nuggets have the best pick out of two lottery picks (our own and the Knicks). We traded one of them for Igoudala, but we get to keep the best one. And, we have 4-5 starters out with injuries that will hopefully be back next year.

You know the funny thing is that the NAACP is really giving Sterling a lifetime achievment award. Well, they were going to. It will likely be canceled now.

Looks like the tape of Sterling may be a fraud and there's some controversy about the person that made the tape public. Seems she's involved in some legal issues with Sterling.
Unfortunately it isn't a fraud Kurt. The girlfriend was being sued by Sterlings' wife because the wife didn't like her getting all these gifts. Hell, why else would a beautiful woman 50 years younger be with someone like Sterling? It ain't his personality or good looks. From what I understand the GF was being sued while she was still Sterling's gf.

Mavs can beat the Spurs! We've played better than the Spurs for most part of the 3 games. Some of our bench players are playing better than a few of their starters. Dirk's not playing like Dirk but Ellis, Marion and Carter are making up for it. Even Dalembert is scoring a few points. Harris is playing well too.

Some great series going on now. I can't get away from the TV. Hey TL, those Wizards look for real. I think they couldplay the Heat pretty tough if they do end up beating the Bulls.

I had to laugh when Mark Jackson said yesterday that the fans should boycott the game in LA. haha

Monta Ellis is an amazing finisher. I was surprised he missed that final shot last night. When his midrange shot is going he is very hard to stop. He's been a good passer also for several years but has a better team around him now. Good to see him getting some recognition. He's a good guy.

BTW, regarding the game tonight between the Warriors and the Clips, I do think the decision announced in about an hour and half by the commissioner will have an affect on the game. If the punishment isn't preceived to be strong enough and Sterling stays on as owner I see a big letdown for the Clippers and a win for the Warriors. If it is announced that Sterling has to sell the team then it will hard to beat them tonight. So much of the game is emotional and mental that something like this has to have an affect on the players.

Miami moves on by sweeping the Bobcats who will go back to being the Hornets next season.

Indiana is in big trouble - going back to Atlanta down 3-2, San Antone dodges a grenade and pulls even with Dallas, my local Wizards leading 3-1, can finish off the Bulls tonight, Clippers play tonight in LA tied 2-2 with Tim's Warriors, despite many close games Portland leads Houston 3 game to 1, Brooklin and Toronto are tied at 2 games each with game #5 in Toronto, OKC and Memphis are tied at 2 apiece with pivotal game #5 in OKC.

If Indiana is eliminated, who can stop Miami from appearing in the finals for the fourth straight year?

The NBA will hold a press conference today at 2pm Eastern to discuss Clippers owner, Mr. Sterling's alleged comments.

Yep, it's a good start. I wouldn't think it would be a problem getting the other owners lined up to force him to sell. I know Herb Kohl (Bucks owner until the league approves the sale of the franchise) has already came out backing the commissioner on it.

There's no room for an owner like that. I can't imagine him putting up much of a fight, having been publicly shamed as thoroughly as he has been, but I guess you never know.

Great games last night as Tim's Warriors hold on (100-99) to tie the series with the Clippers at 3 games each headed to a game #7 - but back in LA.

Since these folks are not my Lakers, I only watch the last period or so of most games I watch and it was a thriller.

    - The Hawks fold in the final 2 minutes - at home and allow a win for Indiana to force a 7th game in Indiana.

    - After being called Mr. Unreliable on the front page of an Oklahoma newspaper Durant drops 36 points on the Grizzlies, blowing them out in Memphis in Game 6 to even the series a 3 games each and forcing a 7th game back in OKC.

In other very important league news...

Yes, so far these playoffs have been amazing. 3 game sevens Sat and possibly 3 more Sunday.

Portland is my plan B team in case the Warriors don't make it. Then OKC.

Edit: Just saw that my Warriors were going to Boycott Tuesdays game if the league didn't deal with Sterling harshly enough:

Here's how it would have worked, according to Thompson:

"The Warriors were going to go through pre-game warm-ups and take part in the national anthem and starting line-up introductions. They were going to take the floor for the jump ball, dapping up the Clippers players as is customary before games.

"Then once the ball was in the air, they were just going to walk off. All 15 of them."

The boycott was organized by Stephen Curry, David Lee, and Andre Iguodala, and the Warriors would have asked the Clippers to join them if Sterling's punishment wasn't harsh enough.

The league is really overreacting to this Sterling thing, and this is coming from a black person. People allowed to have their opinions, even if they're politically incorrect. I want non-black entrepreneurs to see the bigger picture here. Look at how you can be forced out of business just because you have a politically incorrect view.

Although his name hasn't been brought up that I know of, here's a suggestion for the next coach of the Los Angeles TLs: George Karl. I'm just not sure Karl would want to deal with Kobe. But I believe Karl was teammates with Kupchak at N. Carolina.

Yea, I heard about the connection between Kupchak and Karl. Karl has already dealt with Carmelo so he should be OK in dealing with Kobe.

Kobe just wants to play his last two seasons with a competitive ballclub.

For the record, given his experience, I wouldn't mind if Karl was selected as the new coach of the LA Lakers.

Which is why I have some doubt if Karl would be willing to go through that again. He uses a motion offense and hates it when the ball stops. And Kobe and Melo are the two biggest ball stoppers in the NBA.

Karl has a big ego and can clash with players with egos. Kobe has the biggest ego in the NBA.

Still, Karl's a good coach and could turn around the team as quickly as anyone. Maybe he feels he could "endure" Kobe for two seasons?

And speaking of Marques Johnson, here's some trivia you may not have known...

The ABA was in bad shape, and then ABA commisioner Billy Cunningham did away with the college draft and teams were instructed to sign any players they could in desperation.

My Nuggets actually had Marques Johnson, Richard Washington, Mitch Kupchak and Phil Ford signed to contracts. These players would have been added to a team that already had Ralph Simpson, David Thompson, Dan Issle, Bobby Jones and Marvin Webster.

However, the ABA/NBA merger happened a short time later and part of the agreement was the ABA had to void these contracts.

Some more ABA trivia...I was listening to Hubie Brown call a game last night and it got me thinking about when he coached the ABA's Kentucky Colonels to an ABA championship. His front court was Artis Gilmore, Dan Issle and Maurice Lucas. That was a very "manly" team.

Tough loss Tim...the consulation prize is that your Ws outlasted our teams. Rob seemed to have bailed months ago, TLs Lakers needed a taser as I predicted earlier, and my Nuggets had a tough year all around.

It would have been nice if the Ws could have moved on. You deserve it! And you deserve it! And you deserve it!

Haha. Jackson can be cheesy that's for sure, but the players love him. I have been critical of him all year but I think the Warriors should extend his contract for a couple more years. The Dubs have improved every year under him and I think we would have beat the Clippers with Bogut. If he does go, I like Karl to replace him and I think Karl would rather come here than go to LA at this point.

That was a tough loss though. Looked like we had it under control until the 3rd quarter. Oh well.

Now I'm looking forward to seeing OKC beat the Clippers, Portant beat the Spurs and anyone beating the Heat.

The irony here is that Jackson outcoached Karl in the playoffs last year and losing that series is the number 1 reason Karl got fired...

The Clippers send a message to OKC trouncing them in front of their home crowd.

My local Wizards continue to amaze the basketball world.

Tonight, Brooklyn goes up against champs the Heat whom they've beaten all 4 times they've met this season.

OKC wasn't ready for the Clippers. They are a much better team than Memphis right now and OKC is going to have to be ready defensively. It took a couple games for the Warriors to step it up defensively against LA.

The Wizards look like they will beat Indiana no problem. It might even be a sweep.

One of ESPN's NBA pundits (can't remember which one) reported that he heard things were so disfunctional with Jackson, that Jackson wouldn't even let Jerry West visit practices.

If true, it's probably not the best career decision to ban The Logo.

I hadn't heard that one but I have been hearing he has problems getting along with management. If he banned the logo that really was dumb. I have mixed feelings about the firing. It will all depend on who they get to replace him and how they do next year. I do worry because the Nuggets and Memphis both fired good coaches and didn't improve. Isn't that the objective? :/

I hear the Warriors are interested in Steve Kerr also. Not sure about that either. Another ex player with no head coaching experience at all.

The Nuggets HAD the second longest playoff streak at 10 straight years, broken this season, but we lost in the first round 9 of those years. Nuggets management is probably thinking "mission accomplished, we didn't lose in the first round this year!"

I can't stand the logic of firing coaches because they didn't win it all. There's actually people that want to fire Bronco coach John Fox because he didn't win the Superbowl last year.

If you're going to fire a coach like Karl, you better have a damn good coach in mind, and I don't think John Wooden will be walking into the gym any time soon.

Here's another suggestion for the TLs and Ws...How about Larry Brown?

Brown is the only basketball coach that has won both an NBA championship and an NCAA championship.

I'm not sure how accurate any stories about how he gets along with management is...I think his biggest problem is that he has the "grass is greener" syndrome with both players and teams. He tends not to stay at the same place for too long. Hopefully, at his age (71?) this won't be a problem.

He also gets a wild hair about players once in a while. I remember when he was with the Nuggets and wanted to trade Dan Issle for Rich Kelly, straight up. In these situations, I can see why management would disagree with him.

But he's won everywhere he's been, in both college and pro, and is an excellent coach.

Spurs spank Portland again and Miami controls Nets as both teams lead their series 2 games to zip.

Much was made of the Nets sweeping the season series against the Heat but the Heat are having none of it.

I do not expect either series to go beyond 6 games - if that many.

    Tonight...

...the surprising Wizards try to maintain home court advantage versus the troubled Pacers and the Thunder and Clippers resume their battle to move on to the Western Conference Finals with both series tied at a game each.

    Note:

A couple weeks ago on the TNT NBA show, Kenny "The Jet" Smith and Jason "The Jet"Terry engaged in a shootout to determine who could claim exclusive rights to the moniker "The Jet" or who was the real "Jet" - and Kenny won the contest.

    Speaking of shooting...

Portland seems outmatched so far which surprises me because they have been playing so well. Perhaps going back home will get them back on track. I'm not sure where Roy Hibbert has been the last few months but he made an appearance in the last game finally for Indiana. I wonder if the release of Andrew Bynum had something to do with his play Wednesday night and the bad play while Bynum was still with the club?

I'm looking forward to the two games tonight. Go Thunder! Westbrook was amazing the game!

Is sure was a great game. When the Clips were down by 18 in the first period is said the only good thing going for them was there is plenty of time to comeback and win and slowly they did.

How about the strategy to put Chris Paul on Durant and also double team him at the same time? It slowed KD down to a crawl.

Yes the Wizards were up by 17 at the half but Paul George carried the team on his back and produced a 3-1 advantage in the series that I will now declare over.

        Question?

Will the Pacers get enough rest to gain an advantage when they meet Miami in the conference finals. They will have home court advantage and they should have plenty of rest if the Nets win another game in the series with the Heat.

San Antone is looking very good and I think they can beat the Eastern rep this year - especially if its the Pacers.

        Enjoy!

"Kerr appears to be the lead guy for both the Knicks and Warriors... is leaning toward New York to rejoin Knicks president Phil Jackson, will decide by Monday."

Now, I realize that NY is considered the basketball meca but I think Kerr would be nutts to pick the Knicks over the Warriors if he does indeed have that choice. After last season, is that coaching spot really that disirable a position? Even with Phil Jackson? .. who has never been in the front office of an organization by the way.

Honestly I would prefer Karl over Kerr because of his experience and I think the motion offense would work nicely with the current Warrior roster. As long as they keep the defense going the way it was last year which was one of the best in the NBA.

"The Lakers are said to be looking at Jeff Van Gundy..." lol. From D'Antoni to Jeff Van Gundy. That would be interesting: one doesn't coach defense very well and the other doesn't coach offense very well.

I like this quote from Kobe on the D'Antoni resignation: “Honestly, I didn’t care”.

Portland wins one at home and now back to San Antonio for game #5 - its just a matter of time.

Last night the Heat put a big nail in the coffin of the Nets by surging in the final 2 minutes and now have a commanding 3-1 lead.

Tonight the Pacers have a chance to finish off the Wizards and get a little rest before they have to face the Heat once again in the conference finals.

Tonight the Clips and Thunder resume their contest to see who will move on to the conference finals. It's game # 5 and when a 7 game series is tied a 2 each, the winner of game 5 wins the series 75% of the time. We'll see if the percentages hold up.

I'm looking forward to tonight's late game.

The Pacers do not finish off the Wizards suffering an embarrassing 20 point defeat in front of their home crowd.

    WOW!

The script is flipped as the Thunder thrill their home crowd coming back from 11 down with less than 6 minutes to go and worse yet for the Clippers, 7 down with only 50 seconds to go and snatching a 3-2 lead in their series versus the Clippers 105-104.

I couldn't help wondering if Chris Paul's family is being held hostage because he made at least 3 inexplicable mistakes in the closing minutes to aid the Thunder's victory and IMHO the refs didn't help either.

Does the NBA secretly want the Clippers to lose their series?

    Of course, I'm only kidding.

Tonight Miami tries to finish off Brooklyn in Miami and San Antonio wants to does the same with Portland.

    Time will tell.

San Antone finishes off Portland in 5 while Miami stuns the Nets 96-94 with miracle comeback.

Nets score only 3 points in final 4 & 1/2 minutes.

BTW, IMHO, refs blow another call that would have put Paul Pierce on the line in closing seconds to tie the game.

Tonight the Pacers once again try to finish off the Wizards while the Clippers and the Thunder resume their series for a game #6 in LA.

The Thunder can put the Clippers out of their misery tonight and lead 3 games to 2.

We're one step closer to a finals rematch from last year and this time the Heat can be beat.

I'm glad to see the Clippers gone. Now, if only Miami would lose.

The Spurs/Thunder matchup should be a good one. The Thunder swept the season series 4-0 and only one team in NBA history has beaten a team in the playoffs after being swept by that team 4-0. That was Miami against the Nets this year. Could we have that happen twice this year? I'm thinking no. The Thunder will be back in the Finals.

I'm kind of happy about getting Steve Kerr as coach of the Warriors, although he has no coaching experience at all. Minor detail.

Good luck with Mr. Kerr. Maybe coaching isn't all its cranked up to be and maybe it is.

The Thunder swept the season series 4-0? I don't see why it won't happen again.

This could be San Antones' last hurrah and I don't think they will miss out on the opportunity before the turn the west over to the Thunder - but time will tell.

It seems like the Spurs win by outsmarting their opponents and there's nothing wrong with that.

I think Indy has proven that they are not ready for the Heat and I predict they will fall in 6.

        And...

I really don't want to see the Heat in the finals again but that is my will - not theirs.

Spurs vs Thunder....Honestly, I do not see this game going longer than 5 games.

Iam looking for 4-1 Series. Spurs bench just too deep. Thunder is definitely beatable at home as seen with the Clippers. Spurs won on road a lot this year.

Pop has got these guys peaking perfectly.

To be frank, I do not see how these guys lose if they play like they have been playing the last 5 out of 6 games. With or without Park. ( Note :You can put that on the Record. )

            Just incredibly smart players.

Pacers vs Heat....I like Pacers because of home court advantage. Even though they have looked miserable at home in playoffs. I think they come around and make it a series.

I am feeling the Pacers are going to advance for some reason. Maybe I am wrong but I feel like they are in Game 7.

Congrats to the Spurs and their fans. Spurs crush the Heat again, ending one of the most dominate playoff runs I've seen in my lifetime.

...looks like I went 3-0 this year in playoff predictions. Including going 7-1 last year, my two year total is 10-1. My lone loss was picking the Spurs over Heat last year, so I feel somewhat vindicated by the Spurs avenging the loss from last season.

It was pretty impressive wasn't it Kurt? That one game that Miami did win was just a few shots away from being a blowout also. The Spurs were ahead by about 15 in the 2nd I believe and had the Heat on the ropes in that game. If a couple threes had gone down then it would have been a sweep.

You and Kurt both speak the truth.

I thought when Miami came out smoking they had a chance to force game #6.

I watched the Game Of Thrones season finale with the kid and then Crisis and then tuned in to see "what had happened" and It was another blowout!

I thought it might at least go 7 games but SA had other ideas.

Revenge in such a overwhelming fashion must be extra, extra sweet.

Miami can't score on them and Miami can't stop them from scoring and that's a recipe for disaster for Miami.

SA proves a team can easily beat 2 Superstars and friends.

I think they may meet again next year and Miami is not looking forward to it.

Hats off to the Spurs and their 5th title.

2014 Spurs in Top 10 best Teams of all time. Will have to agree with Tim though there are other Teams I probably give an edge to.

But they could definitely give any one of those Team a run for their Money !!

Honestly I think these guys particularly Duncan and Pop were so obsessed with losing Game 6 last year that there was nothing going to stop them from doing what they did to Heat. Total Redemption !!

Yeah, that's going to make it tough because he was one of the main reasons they matched up well with the Spurs. ( It wasn't just this season's 4 game sweep. OKC has beaten the Spurs 10 out the last 12 games. ) The rookie Adams and veteran Collison will get more playing time and will have to step it up. The Spurs' Parker is hurt also, but I hear he will be playing and the Spurs have a history of playing well without key players anyways. It should be interesting.

I haven't seen the Pacers play that well in over 4 months. How can a team play so horrible and then play just about a perfect game like they did yesterday? Weird. If they can play the same way, I don't see Miami winning the series, but after watching the up and down Pacers the last few months anything can happen.

Durant and Westbrook looked unstoppable in 3rd quarter. They will probably be the best Duo to ever play the Game when all is said and done.

But a team cannot just rely on two fellows to keep it a float.

Thunder really hurting after losing Ibaka and it showed last night in a multitude of aspects.

The Thunder really missed Ibaka on the defensive end and they could use his points per game also. This thing will not go 7 games if six.

But tonight Miami will try to stay out of a hole by going down 2-0 versus Indiana.

OKC's defense looked bad. They can play better team defense though to compensate for losing Ibaka. We'll see what adjustments they make in game two but one thing to remember is that the Clippers beat the Thunder easily in game one of the semis and that game actually had the same final score 122-105. OKC is very resilient.

SA pounds Thunder again with record numbers in the paint and lead 2-0.

The Thunder don't have a chance without Ibaka.

Tonight, in Miami, the Heat and Pacers resume their tussle for supremacy of the east.

Rumors are Paul George may not play tonight thanks to a concussion suffered in a collision with Dwayne Wade.

If George does not play, I don't see how the Pacers can win.

It sure seems the Thunder think that. I just don't believe that Ibaka makes THIS much of a difference or that the Spurs are this much better than the Thunder. A lot of basketball is mental and the Thunder are playing like they are already defeated so far. Doesn't look like they will turn it around. In the first quarter the Spurs were cold and the Thunder had opportuniies to build a lead but kept missing shots they can make. Plus, Westbrook just looks out of control now. Too many jumpers and not enough driving/dishing. It's too bad because I was looking forward to a good series.

Well, my main thing I want to see now is Miami lose, so I would be allright with the Spurs or Indiana winning if OKC doesn't.

By the way, the Miami/Pacer game 3 is Saturday, so George has a few days to recover.

Hmm, he's been GM for about 12 years. Don't you Laker fans know about his player evaluation skills yet?

By the way, it looks like the Warriors will be going after Kevin Love and that means David Lee would have to go. From what I have read, Orlando is interested in a Lee trade and Affalo has been mentioned as a piece of the trade.

I ran into a total stranger female today in Costco who had the same Laker tee shirt that I had on.

We both agreed that the Lakers will return to power soon and we even high-fived!

        It's the one that says...

"LA Lakers - 15X Champions" (of course we have 16 titles)

The wife Kupchak but I think he's done a decent job.

We haven't had a low draft pick in years so this is an good opportunity to gage Kupchak's NBA player evaluation skills.

We should get a player that will contribute and soon become a starter.

Remember, we should have had Chris Paul on the roster but the NBA jumped in and voided the trade.

Yeah, just like they were such a dominant force last year ( 27 games in a row) and were down 5 pts. with 29 seconds to SA in Game 6 of the Finals.

My point being that they are not even remotely close to being considered a dominant force by any stretch of the imagination

Thunder looked unbeatable last night. Westbrook played like a madman.

Looks like Spurs did not figure them out.

I did think Brooks made some tactical mistakes playing Westbrook entire game.

If there was ever a so called 'good loss' is was last night. Spurs were getting mangled by Thunder when Pop put in scrubs in 3rd quarter.

The scrubs made a 27 pt. deficit to just a 13 point loss. I think this has to play in the psyche of both Teams. The Thunder could not close out the Spurs like the Spurs did to them in Game 2.

I could tell it affected Dunk in a positive way in interview after game. He pointed out that it left something to build on for Game 5.

Of course Barkley is jumping on the Thunder Wagon. Typical.

This is a 'Home Game ' Series. I do not see Game 5 even being close. Honestly,I really don't.
I may sound presumptions but this is standard stuff for Spurs. I will be surprised if Thunder make it a 10 pt. game. I really will. With or without Ibaka...it doesn't matter.

But I admit they really wiped us up for well over 2 quarters last night. They we will a Finals. Just not this year

Cory Joseph says 'Hello' to Serge Ibaka

Amazing how the series has swung. I am wondering if the Thunder can do what they did two years ago when they came back after being down 2-0 and swept the next 4 games? I bet it is on the minds of the Spurs now also. Game 5 should be very interesting!

            Yeah good point. Could ,maybe

Though this Team is different than two years ago. You have a much better team with so much more depth.

Of course, Thunder are better than they were 2 years ago too.

But you just have so many players to go with the Spurs. Like you saw last night , the Scrubs would have won against the Thunder by over a dozen points over two qtrs. That is with Westbrook having a incredible 3rd qtr.

If there is a Team I want to see win it in the next 5 years ( other than the Spurs) it is OKC. Just because I think very highly of KD.

But this year it is just going to be too much for Thunder to overcome a Road win at SA. It wont happen

Shell shocked ? About what ?

That there second team could manhandle the Thunder like they did in 3rd and 4th quarter ? And that is with Westbrook having a spectacular 3rd quarter.

Like I said earlier and like many people are saying the Thunder made some tactical blunders . Bad coaching as well as a lackadaisical performance ( Overall) by the Thunders first team in 3rd and 4th quarter .

Stuff like that is not overlooked by Pops and the BIG 3. Dunk saw it and will capitalize off it.

You put that Second Team in the First Quarter and they would have clearly Won the game.

Now it is just a matter of the Starters to look within themselves and play like they have the whole Season.

Like I said I will be honestly surprised if they can stay within 10 pts. of Spurs.

      I cannot see it happening.

I think the Heat and Spurs will be a good series. It will be interesting to see how the Spurs emotions will play out considering the disaster that happened in Game 6 last year. I know Pop has been preparing them for this emotional circumstance from Day one of this Season.

I do not know if it will go less than 7 games though. Funny interview with Cuban. He says he is hoping to see Dunk come down in Game 7 with the winning basket at the buzzer and then galloping off into the Exit never to be seen again.

I don't know. I am hoping we take one down there in Miami before we have to come back to Game 7 in SA. Probably wishful thinking but it is quite possible with a little Poetic Justice .

          Just short for Duncan.

Yep anything is possible. As good as any one team is, all these Teams could win on any given day if everything falls just right for them.

Still hoping for a Miracle from Pacers. I am interested to see what type of dynamics they come out with in the first few minutes against Heat.

Whether they will be desperate and nervous ? Composed or confident ? Or just indifferent ?

Should be a good game tonight. I will be getting my Delicious $5.99 Dominos two topping, Large Pizza Pick up thru June 1st Special to enjoy it with ( Disclosure : Yes I do have to divulge that Dominos does in fact pay me a small stipend per post thru Retail Internet Rebates to mention that, but I would eat one regardless. )

I'm not sure about that. The Thunder played the 3rd & 4th quarter like they were playing against the 2nd team. And it nearly bit them in the behind. They got a big lead and lost focus. No way SA's second team plays with them in a tight game.

If the Spurs stay healthy and focused, they'll be hard to beat. I used to be a quasi Spurs fan. Loved The Admiral.

Back in the ABA and early merger days, the Spurs were my second favorite team.

Gervin, Kenon, The Whopper and maybe the best player no one ever heard of: James Silas. He was actually the best player on the Spurs until he blew a knee, then the Iceman took over.

Yeah Stephenson is a really great player. He is a little screwy in the head, though. And a big time hot head as well.

Did you see him go over to Spoelstra and the Heat bench and group around them like he was part of the huddle ?

That sounds about right. Kenon did play with Dr. J with the Nets for a while.

Some trivia: Larry Kenon still holds the NBA single game record for steals. (I think Jason Kidd has since tied it). Kenon did it in his very first NBA game, right after the NBA/ABA merger.

In Denver I went to an "event". I think it was for the dunk contest when it was more like a tournament in the early days of the NBA contest.

Darnell Hillman was a spectator in the stands and I sat directly behind him. He's about 6'9" and at that time, had a world-class afro. Talk about blocking my view. I mostly watched his afro the entire time. LOL

He's actually a really nice guy.

I remember Darnell for a couple reasons: he played at SJSU, the school I ended up attending a few years later in my hometown. Plus, the Warriors picked him in the first round in the 71 draft. I was just 13 then but already into college and pro ball.

Indiana gets to live another day as George explodes for over 30 2nd half points in a thriller.

Note: I only saw the last 6 minutes of the game.

Then I'd give them the edge for game 7. I really don't see that happening though. Unless LBJ happens to get into similar foul trouble at home. I don't see that happening either.

Yeah, I think there is a little shift in pressure back on the Heat for the next game. Pacers really do not have much to lose.

I think they and their Fans figured it would be a long shot to win 3 straight games against Heat.

I think the Heat realize that they NEED to win this Game 6. If they lose then we are in for some very , very interesting Drama back at Indiana

So much for my prediction of the Spurs being shell shocked.

SA once again pounds OKC in game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead as they go back to OKC for game #6.

This win breaks a streak of 7 straight games in which SA lost to OKC with Ibaka in the lineup.

When a 7 game series is tied 2-2 the winner of the 5th game has gone on to win the series ______% of the time.

Yeah, this Series is one strange one. Spurs did exactly what I expected.

But this Game 6, Spurs will be lucky to come within 10 points of the Thunder....just based on how the Series has gone.

I don't know. Hope they can steal it at OKC but I have a feeling it will go to Game 7 at SA.

Look forward to Pacers/Heat tonight.Id love the Pacers to win but I just do not see Heat losing. Lebron is going to come out Mad and ready to battle after last game's poor performance.

A miracle could happen but I would not put my money against the Heat.

I think a little of both. Home Court was definitely a huge help. Ibaka was a non factor as Pop spread the Team out by stating Bonner and putting in Diaw soon after.

Iam preparing for Game 7. SA might surprise. However, I hate to say it but it looks like another blowout come tomorrow by Thunder.

          WOW!

Despite Lance Stephenson's antics the Heat obliterate the Pacers in game 6 and await the winner of the SA/OKC series out west.

Chris Bosh shows up with his third straight 20+ point game and how about Rashard Lewis? It seems like whatever Miami needs it is supplied by someone.

Miami's bench is much better than most people give them credit.

Speaking of Miami's bench, a Birdman update. A couple of years ago when he was still in Denver, there was a report that Anderson's computer was seized due to an issue with an online minor.

The report placed suspicion on Anderson. While the report was technically true, Anderson was actually the VICTIM in the incident. A woman and her underaged daughter were running a scam on Anderson and trying to get money from him.

It's sad because Anderson's reputation was probably hurt in the eyes of some that don't know the whole story, but he really did nothing wrong.

I really can't stand watching Indiana play. They play such a boring brand of offense. Plus, they are schizophrenic, passive aggressive or bipolar as a team. lol. Still, I wanted them to beat the Heat but it is what it is. The East is so weak except for Miami.

Durant and Westbrook go like 1 for 10 during overtime while Duncan takes over and OKC wilts before SA 112-107.

    - The rematch is set but this time SA has home court advantage.

    - The teams went 7 games last time/year and I expect it to go 7 games this year. If it doesn't, Miami will win, if it does go 7, there's a very good chance SA will win.

    - If Miami wins at least one of the first two games in SA, don't be surprised if the series does not go 7 games with Miami taking another title.

    - It's two three-headed dragons against each other. Maybe they'll cancel each other out and the bench play will decide the issue.

    - The Heat are playing to become the first team to win back-to-back-to-back since my Lakers did it from 2000-2002 and of course this is their 4th straight NBA Finals.

    - SA has 4 NBA titles and Miami has 3. This could be the last chance for the big three of SA to add another title to their resumes.

    - The game format has changed back to 2-2-1-1-1 instead of 2-3-2 since the 1980s.

    - Season series: Split 1-1, with Heat winning 113-101 Jan. 26 and Spurs winning 111-87 March 6.

    Enjoy!

Tim, I wish. I cannot see it happening , though

The Heat have a way about them that is inexplicable. On sheet the Spurs have the better team. But Heat have Lebron and when it seems like they cannot win they find a way to do it.

I know Duncan is calling for the win, I just do not think it will be easy.
But he is really driven to do it. Iam mean really driven. Not sure if it was smart though to lay it out like that in Public. It just will motivate Heat that much more.

I tell you what though...this is about as much as an anticipated NBA Finals that I can remember in a LONG, LONG time.

        I look forward to it.

SA has 23 turnover and still wins!

Heat shrivel in the overheated AT &T Center in SA after what seemed like allowing SA to move ahead then they would catchup all the first half. Heat go into the half down by 5. They took control in the early 3rd, and moved to a 7 point lead late in the 3rd.

These are the two best shooting teams in the NBA.

The King, was hobbled by cramps down the stretch and wilted in the heat.

As a Laker fan I am reminded of the heat in Boston Garden and the late night phone calls to the Laker players.

I know, both teams had to deal with the elements but if it happens again - I call Konspiracy.

Danny Greens' 3 Pointers lead the charge as SA caught up and went ahead to stay taking the lead in the final 4 minutes of the game and won going away to a 110-95 victory.

I heard that when Boris Diaw was on the court the Spurs outscored the Heat by 30!

    BTW...

I just heard SA ended to game on a 31-9 run over I think the last 8 minutes.

What's with LeBron's leg? Is this injury serious? I was looking for the answer around the Internet but there are a lot of different speculations. If LeBron is out for a series, it's done.

You're right. There's no way in hell the Heat wins this series without James but I believe he'll be OK for the rest of the series.

Just from my own experience it looked like he had major cramps/pulled muscles. I know it hurts like the devil. But not a game changer.

Spurs had me worried for awhile. It looked as if the Heat were going to take this one early in the 4th.

Green got hot and everyone else followed.l

      I like a Sweep. J/K

Heat came out and took this one.

Lebron shows why he is the best player in the World. Really incredible 2nd half.

Home Court advantage goes to Miami now.If it was any other Team I would say the Spurs will take an Away Game and win.

But this is the Heat and when you have Lebron James it is going to have to be an Extraordinary effort by Spurs to win in Miami. My Heart says maybe but my brain says no.

On the other hand I will have to say even it is the Heat for a Team to win 3 in a row is going to be tough against the Spurs.

There bench is so damn deep. I could not imagine a team winning 3 in a row against them.

But then again this is the Heat.

I give the Heat the edge in 6 Games. But watch out

They will have to earn it.

Miami squeaks out a 98-95 win in a nip & game game in which n one lead by more than 5 point as Lebron rebounds from "Lebroning" or "Crampgate" to lead the way with 35 big points - many on mid-range jumpers.

After Parker is elbowed by Charmers, SA misses 4 consecutive free throws late in the game and the SA never recovered.

The pressure is now clearly on SA who must win at one of these next two games in Miami or the series is over.

Tonight is do or die for SA as far as I'm concerned.

If they lose tonight there will be some serious pressure on them for game #4.

They must have a split from the two games in Miami.

Yeah it will be a tough one. Take Lebron out of the Game and this Series is over in 5.

I guess you could maybe say the same thing about the Bulls and Jordan in 90s. However, Pippen was pretty damn good supporting cast for Jordan. Better than Wade IMO.

Yeah this could be true, too. If the Spurs can win one of these next two I just do not see them losing at home again. Heat can take one at SA but I would bet the Farm and more that they dont let the Heat do it again. No way

The Heat had some fortune in the second quarter. Spurs were up by 11 and it looked like the Spurs were going to do what they usually do at home and blow the opponent away. But they got cold.

I think it is a MUST that the Heat have to Win these next two. Which is not a gimme.

But on the same token the Spurs MUST win one of these next two games. Which is not a gimme

    WOW!!!!!!

Kwai Leonard and SA light up Miami in first half for a 21 point lead while setting a NEW record for FG percentage in the first half. MIA (missing in action?) cuts the lead to 7 near end of 3rd period but the comeback wa not to be.

If Kwai plays like this for the rest of the series, the Spurs will be hard to beat.

The above may be true but MIA has always come up with enough to take a series but only time will tell - this time around.

Didn't SA blow MIA out last year?

The winner of game 3 wins 85% of 7 game playoff (finals?) series but SA won a pivotal game 3 last year.

One thing is for sure, MIA is in the hot seat now and can not afford to lose game 4 - or it's over.

I watched him play in a couple games this year. He has a lot of ability and potential. I can see why some compare him Olajuwan but he would have to keep developing and you just never know how long a player will keep improving. You also can't predict if a player will be injury prone and Embriid had a back problem at the end of the season. That being said, I certainly would be tempted to make him my #1 pick if I was Cleveland or Milwaukee.

Saw where Carmelo might be traded to Heat next year. I do not think this is necessarily a bad thing. And I do not think it necessarily would give the Heat a better Team. Could disrupt the Chemistry there.

Of course all this is speculation. It would be something to have the Big 4 !!

I was actually thinking while watching the opening minutes that Lebron looked uncomfortable. Next thing you know he's running towards the locker room. Lol. WTF?! Game over! Right there.

This series isn't even close! Three blowouts and one lucky win. I never felt for one minute that Miami thought they could win tonight. They looked defeated in the first quarter!

One problem Miami has, among a few, is they play in the East. The West is just way, way better now. The Heat weren't even remotely ready to play the Spurs in the Finals.

Yep, the Nuggets became a better team once Melo was traded, with a bunch of "no names".

Also, when Melo was a Nugget, over the entirety of him being here the Nuggets' winning percentage was almost identical whether he was playing or out.

On the other hand, when Kenyon Martin missed games, the Nuggets' winning percentage greatly decreased.

I just think the Spurs are a much better and deeper all around team. You could take any player off the Spurs for this series and they would still win 3 games at least. Take Lebron off the Heat and they would get swept. Plus, Pop is the best coach in sports.

Game four should be a good one. I will give the edge to Miami but wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs blew them out again.

There will be a NEW NBA Champion as Spurs school Heat again 107-86 while racing to a early big lead - like 25 points, before a stunned and angry American Airlines Arena crowd (they booed the Heat) and take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.

    - The Heat had multiple turnovers trying to pass the ball like the Spurs. On several occasions last night the Spurs looked like the Globetrotters and the Heat looked like the Washington Generals.

    - The Spurs top 6 players are clearly better than Miami's top 6.

    - Dwyane Wade was exposed as father time seems to have claimed him. Will he be with the Heat next year or will he leave quietly and allow the Heat to pick up Anthony?

    - Wade and Bosh left too much of the heavy lifting to James. They combined for just 22 points on 8 of 24 shooting.

    - Spurs' precision offense helps San Antonio shoot 57 percent from the field.

    - Key coaching moves = Playing Boris Diaw (9 assists) big minutes and forcing Kwahi Leonard to be aggressive on offense as he shows up again with 20 huge points. (First pointed out by Lance K.)

    - All 13 Spurs played, scored and played quick-hands defense.

Hats off to the Spurs. They learned their lessons well.

I see a rematch again next year but unless Miami retools and gets better players or performances after the big three, the result will be the same.

I said from the beginning that the Spurs had the better team by far. Just wasnt sure they could mentally get by the Heat.

Unless he retires, he isn't going anywhere. I don't think he'll retire. There's still a little gas in the tank.

Also, everyone keeps talking about Miami maybe retooling, but nobody seems to be mentioning the possibility of LeBron leaving. My guess he opts out and is gone. Just a gut feeling.

I completely agree. The fact that Bosh and Wade each make the same amount as Lebron is a bit silly. Im not exactly sure how Melo would fit into the already crowded offense though. You don't suppose Melo would be comfotable coming in off the bench do you?

Probably not, but I imagine Melo wants a ring pretty badly, so you never know.

I'd let Wade lead the 2nd unit. At his age it would be a good fit for him. Reduced minutes and he still gets touches as the go to guy. I honestly don't know if his body will hold up more than another year or 2 to the point where he's still effective on a nightly basis in a starter's role. He's only 32, but seems to have the durability of a 35 or 36 year old.

I think as Melo gets older and a ring becomes more important he'll become more valuable. He got kinda spoiled by winning a championship as a freshman in college. If he can "get over himself" as Pop calls it, he can definitely be a key piece to an NBA championship team, regardless of his reputation as a pro thus far. He has the talent...he just has to prove he has the basketball IQ.

He's never going to be an MJ type because of his lack of defensive focus. But with that much offensive talent he could definitely be a key part of a championship run if he gives up the "hero ball" mentality.

Just got back from River Walk Parade downtown. It was pretty amazing.

All the Spurs players rode down the River in a barge with the NBA Trophy hoisted up in the air by Kawhi. I got some great video and pics.

After this they headed to the Alamo dome where over 75K Fans welcomed the New NBA Champs and Patty Mills introduced all the players and told funny personal stories about each one.

Mills said he asked what Leonard was going to be for Halloween last year and Leonard replied he was going to be his favorite Super Hero......then he proceeded to grab his wrist and lift his' Paw' high up in the air.

For those of you who do not know Leonard has the biggest hands in the NBA. When I first heard this I thought to myself this is an exaggeration , there has got to be some 7 footers bigger.

But then last week the San Antonio Express had an Article and in that Article they gave a real actual Size of Leonard's full hand.

People, I did not know someone could have a hand that big. It is unreal. I have big hands myself. I have been able to palm a ball since I was a teenager. But I kid you not Leonard's hands are probably nearly two of my hands when I put my hand next to his in the real life picture.

It is a freak of nature.

Anyway, it was a cool night. Im tired now

Lucky You! I am not a big Spurs fan but good celebrations are always fun. I was lucky enough to be down there for the 2006 Alamo Bowl and saw one of the great finishes in college football history as Iowa's Drew Tate beat Texas with a bomb on the final play of game.

I also loved the River Walk which was lit up beautifully for the holiday season. That 2006 trip to San Antonio was one of the best bowl trips I ever made!

Congrats!!! And that parade sounds like a lot of fun.

It's a special feeling whenever a team you seriously root for wins a title.

I have a feeling your Spurs will be back to defend your title next season.

Enjoy being king of the NBA.

I would love to have Love on our team, but I don't want to give up Klay Thompson. Lee, Barnes and maybe Green, but not Klay.

Hey, check out Pop at the parade mocking Lebron's quote about getting more than five Championships.

That prediction Lebron made after signing with the Heat is just one of the reasons people have a hard time liking him. The arogance to predict 8 Championships when he had never won one ... Now, Lebron is 2 for 5 in the the finals.

        LOL!

Looks like King James is no more and he's 2-3 in NBA Finals.

SA is the most successful former ABA team with 1,2,3,4,5 rings and not a team Miami wants to see again next year because 4 games to 1 is pretty convincing and there isn't much room for doubt and 2nd guessing like SA suffered until they regained the crown.

Did not Washington and Golden State sweep each other in back to back NBA Finals appearances?

I'm not so sure anymore that Lebron will win at least 5 NBA titles.

          Nope...

The Bucks swept the Bullets in 1971
The Warriors swept the Bullets in 1975
The Bullets beat the Sonics 4-3 in 1978
The Sonics beat the Bullets 4-1 in 1979

The Washington Bullets/Wizards only have that single NBA title. The Baltimore Bullets did beat the Philadelphia Warriors 4-2 for the title in 1948.

The last two NBA Finals were a repeat of the 1978 and 1978 series.

The Bullets beat the Sonics 4-3 in 1978 and...

The Sonics beat the Bullets 4-1 in 1979.

Last year Mia beat SA 4-3 and this year SA beat Mia 4-1.

It was a bad finals for Lebron: They get blown out in the 4 losses. He gets cramps in game one. He has to take a bathroom break in the 1st quarter of game 4. He is on the bench crying in game 5. Not legend making stuff. lol Plus, the Heat were just a few seconds from losing last year which would have made Lebron 1-4 in the Finals.

I'm not so sure anymore that Lebron will win at least 5 NBA titles.

Miami needs to upgrade their roster badly. Chalmers was awful in the finals. Ray Allen isn't near the threat he was even a year or two ago.

Neither is Wade for that matter. When the "Big 3" signed I commented on one of ESPN's articles that Miami better hurry up and win because Wade had maybe 2-3 good years left in him. Boy did I catch hell for that.

Patty Mills is a free agent. I'd go after him hard if I was the Heat. Not sure why he would ever want to leave the Spurs, but I'd at least try to convince him.

Not sure if James will leave Miami. They have a chance to do something special in next 5 years.
As Pat Riley said all Dynastys lose.

Look at La Lakers in 80s. 5 Championships in 12 years. They lost 7 times during that stretch.

It is foolish to think Heat are going to win every year.

I hope he stays in Miami. It will make 2015 Season such a thrill if he does.

I know your team just won the NBA Championship but you must be careful when speaking of other franchises - especially the Lakers.

        You said...

        I say...

From the 1979-80 season to the 1991 season our record in the NBA Finals was 5-4 - not 5-7.

          I hear you.

BTW, everything I said about the Lakers Franchise was directly spoken from Pat Riley from last weeks interview on ESPN

Being 5/7 or 5/4 is totally irrelevant. The point is that Teams including the Heat and even the great Lakers WILL lose even in the midst of a dynasty run.

As Pat Riley said last week "everyone get a Grip" about the Heat and their stumble

Wow! Some interesting stuff going on the last few days in the NBA. Trades, drafts, rumors... I hear the Warriors are still in talks with Minnesota about getting Kevin Love. One report says one reason they want to get Love is to entice Lebron to come play for the Dubs. I told my gf that if that happened I would have to become a Lebron fan. We'll see.

It was hard watching the draft when my team didn't have any picks and there seemed to be so many talented prospects this year. :/

Nuggets traded for Affalo and then traded their draft pick for two more and got a great perimeter defender in Gary Harris and center Jusuf Nurkic.

The Lakers drafted a potential superstar in Randle. He's the Lakers best drafted player in many years.

I liked how the NBA "drafted" Isaiah Austin who found out last week he has a disease that won't allow him to play in the nba. Classy and touching move.

I wonder about the guy Toronto picked in the 1st. One talking head said he was two years from being two years away from being decent. Pretty raw I take it.

Really ?? Sorry, I just do not really understand the purpose of this

I do not see how it is really classy. I mean is it this supposed to be flattering or make the guy feel good ? What purpose does it serve him ?

Now if they invested some money in the Kid and got him into an internship as an Assistant Coach or an intern at the front office of an NBA team or assisted in furthering his Education....then yeah I would say that was pretty cool of the Commish and the NBA.

I just do not see how something like a 'non-concrete' and 'empty' tribute as this does anything substantial for the fellow or his family's future.

              The NBA should step up.

                .
It seemed to serve a purpose for Austin. Did you see it? He was very emotional.

He very well may have some sort of job with the NBA in the future. I heard he did have a million dollar insurance policy which he will be able to get now, so he will be ok financially for a while.

Well, his condition may have taken away his ability to ever play in the NBA, but he was able to hear his name on draft night and go up on stage and shake the commissioner's hand. Besides just being able to experience that part of it for himself, it will help lend credibility to his future endeavors.

Whether it's advocacy, coaching, etc., saying you were good enough to play in the NBA is a little more believable if you have a picture of yourself on stage shaking the commissioner's hand on draft night.

I would have too if I were him. Miami needs to do some serious restructuring/upgrading. LeBron loses all his leverage if he doesn't opt out.

      Melo is not the answer.

Bosh is not opting out unless he's going somewhere else. He already took one pay cut, I doubt he'll take another.

And Wade is not opting out unless he's going to take a pretty good pay cut just to help the team financially and at the same time be able to sign a deal long enough to allow him to retire as a member of the Heat organization. And he too has already taken one pay cut.

So LeBron's best shot at having Heat management make impactful changes was to opt out and make them make some tough decisions. If he stayed, they could easily cut corners so to speak and tell him they did everything they could.

I bet James is secretly lobbying & hoping both Bosh & Wade opt out too.

I think my Nuggets did about as well as they possibly could yesterday. Getting Afflalo for Fornier and a second was a steal. Rumors were Afflalo would be part of a trade package for Love, but the Nuggets deny this and say Afflalo is here to stay. I always liked him, he can score, defend and has improved every year he's been in the NBA, and think he's at least as good as Igoudala.

Harris is a good two-way player and should be a solid pro.

Nurkic is interesting. He's only 19, but 6'11" and 280. His dad is a riot cop and is 7'1" 400 lbs. That's a BIG man. LOL

If we get Gallinari, Mcgee, and Nate Robinson back and healthy, we'll be very solid and deep. We still need a "superstar" to really contend for a championship though. Easier said than done...I'm just not sure how to get one?
