        i learned it easily
        Sure you did.

To deliver it you need the card trick, the personality, the delivery, the pacing.

I have no idea how it's done - but I enjoyed the heck out of watching it.

It was indeed the whole package that made it so enjoyable. Just turning over
cards and naming them before being turned would have been cool for sure but
the way he did it was just absolutely pure entertainment. If I actually learned
how the trick was done, I don't think I could ever deliver it the way he did.

That was way too cool for words!

I loved the look on his face when he was done, too.

This is actually a pretty easy trick, as long as you know a couple false cuts and can memorize the story. The cards are arranged in the order of the story, but you bend the last card just slightly so you can always find it in the deck. Then it doesn't matter how many times you or the spectator cuts the deck throughout the story, you can always get the cards back in order by making sure you cut at your "marked" card in between and get it back on the bottom. It's a great effect that I love doing for people.

Okay, I'll make this fast because I have to get back to doing some real work.

I checked out the YouTube tutorial videos on this trick.

They're dreadful. Sure, they can "do" the trick, but they're like watching paint
      dry.

There are two key things you need in order to really do this trick so that people
      will actually enjoy it.

      1) You need to have some degree of dexterity to do the cuts required, which I
don't have. So even with all my personality, I could never do this trick.

      2) You need to have a personality. You need to be able to make this story
interesting. You need to practice your patter a lot. I mean A LOT.

People think they can just learn a few moves and perform this like this guy
      can.

      In your dreams.

This is as much a performance as it is magic. That's the thing about magicians
that a lot of people don't get. They're not just doing tricks. Anybody can do
tricks. I did tricks as a kid. I was NO entertainer.

I knew when I saw this trick that the deck had to be rigged in some way.

      Didn't matter.

It was his performance that won me over.

      Back to the music.

I don't really care for this stuff. I don't know why. When I was a kid I was taught a few card tricks but was never really interested in them and they are long forgotten. I've seen some amazing illusions, but still am not really moved by the art of illusion - no matter how talented the deliverer. Just not my "thing" I guess.

I really love a good performance like this one. It always reminds me of my grandfather who loved pulling quarters out of our ears, or making peanuts disappear. My last dinner with him was a few years ago, right after his 90th birthday; He entertained an entire restaurant with floating forks and disappearing salt-shakers. His tricks were simple, but his delivery was charming.

He often told me that I could find business success the same way. A charming delivery can cover up many mistakes.

I don't get what's so impressive? There's no mystery or illusion in it that I can see, I wouldn't even call it a trick, just a process. That's not to put the chap down or anything, he's taken the time to learn it and entertain people with it and everything so well done to him, but just not my cup of tea.

Key point there being "that I can see". - not all illusions need be submitted for your approval - it's quite alright if they fool other people.
