After seeing the study on bacon and sperm count. I came across another study. This time for Women with big butts. I wonder if this is true with men who have big butts as well?

Study: Women with big butts are healthier

Women with larger-than-average butts, rejoice.

Research by scientists at the University of Oxford suggests you may be smarter and healthier than ladies with smaller backsides.

According to the study from 2010, women who carry more body fat in their thighs and buttocks tend to have lower levels of cholesterol and more likely to produce hormones to metabolize sugar.

This makes them less likely to develop diabetes, heart disease and other conditions associated with obesity.

Having a big butt also requires an excess of Omega 3 fatty acids, which is proven to catalyze brain development, ABC News reported.

Researchers also found that children born to women with wider hips are generally smarter than the children of slimmer mothers.

The team analyzed data from 16,000 women.

Dennis; Many times these studies are for a different purpose, but the data gathered also gives us unrelated information.

      No idea about this study.

The photo probably isn't what the study had in mind. That much weight would be a strain on the heart, I would think.

It could also be that some women in the study, with very little fat in the hips and thighs, were unhealthy. We also don't know what they mean by "big butt".

It could be anything from an extra few pounds, to what the photo shows.

I'm giving this way too much thought. Back to work for me...and my fat butt.

I worked today and a lady walks up to the gaming table and leverages herself onto a chair. When she was settled, the seat of the chair was full and there was about a foot of leftover butt hanging out past each side of the chair seat.

I was once again reminded of the positive influence this forum has on my life. Instead of thinking "man, that's one big butt" I was thinking "wow, that lady is really healthy"....

SOME people seem to think research is taking a small group of SELECTED people and finding out something they have in common.

You can call this the carrot method! You know the tale! MOST people that have cancer ate carrots and therefore CARROTS CAUSE CANCER! This is course is not true. Some practically LIVE off carrots and DON'T have cancer, but that kind of thing never makes it into such "studies".

I LOVE(sarc) it when I hear something like 99% of people drink hard liquor and want more bars to be built, and then find the study was of 100 people coming out of a local bar! SERIOUSLY! There are SO many "studies" and "polls" that are just like this. When I was in school, and this was in the low grades in public school, *****THEY***** said such polls are worthless!

You want to get a better number? Find people at a random place, like a middle class and popular grocery store and ask a few thousand of THEM direct questions about bars! BTW did YOU know that most people in paid studies would do studies if they are paid?

I'm healthier than any other woman I know in my age bracket - and I don't have a big butt. I also eat the right fats to metabolize well - don't have any hint of any age related mental issues (age related being the key phrase there, lol). My mother was a wide glide, and both us kids were healthy and mentally fit. I never had kids but I can see how narrow hips might be a little bad for carrying a kid.

Sorry - this study is a fail as far as I'm concerned. I'll put myself up against any "baby got back" any day of the week for anything listed on their little fitness list.

      Seriously!

I have narrow hips and have two gifted children. Carrying them wasn't bad, but birthing them was another story, though, lol!

I'll also opt to keep the butt I've got just the way it is and continue to be able to get through tight spaces with out knocking stuff over. :p

I am not sure what type of big butt they are talking about. Are they talking about a well developed butt that has been developed from exercise or just a fat butt.

I think they are talking about a well developed butt personally. I don't know why someone would even look into this honestly. I mean where does it come up in the conversation hey John I think we should do a study on women with big butts and see if they are actually smarter and healthier.

I don't know just seems like a strange study.

In my opinion though there is a big difference between a big butt that has been formed by exercise than one that has been formed by sitting and is just fat.
