I am not reposting this for pleasure or kicks! This is solely to give people the reminder and realization of how easy it is to fail at being aware of your surrounding. In any new task or job procedure firstly "stop and think" ask yourself what could go wrong? do a team hazard assessment identifying the hazards of your working environment.

Oh ouch. That really sucks hard.

There definitely is an up side to watching what you are doing. I watch people on their cell phones or Ipods or whatever that walk out in front of moving vehicles, too. Saw someone get flattened doing that. Just incredible to see people so unaware.

I was pulling out of the filling station at walmart a few months ago and as I pulled away from the pumps this girl started walking in front of my van.

I had came inches from hitting her. I yelled at her and said, girl you're gonna get killed one of these days. PUT THAT DARN PHONE AWAY AND WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING.

To my surprise she put the phone away and told me thanks for the wake up call.

She learned that texting and not paying attention to where you're going could end badly.

That's one reason why I decided against a career as an electrician. I did it for a while, until one day I took my mind off of my work for a second, and the screwdriver I was working with exploded in half. You can't make any mistakes around electricity - you'll be dead before you've even realized you made a mistake.

Yeah, society tries to create a zone that is generally safe that is between the ground, and about 5'5" from it. If you are taller, WATCH IT! If you want to break cement fixed to the ground, WATCH IT! If you want to even dig in the soil around much of your home, WATCH IT!

SERIOUSLY! In indiana, the building code says it is safe to dig abut 6 inches into the ground. After THAT, BE CAREFUL! If you are doing construction, they have a special number, that you have to dial: http://indiana811.org/wp-content/upl...fe-Digging.pdf

WHY? Sewers, Phone lines, power lines, water, gas, cable, etc....
