Can Anyone recommend a good PC Computer in the $500 range that would run SEO programs in the vein of SENUKE X Really well? I was thinking of something like:

Amazon.com: Dell Inspiron 15 i15N-1900BK...Amazon.com: Dell Inspiron 15 i15N-1900BK...
My old PC is completely fried and lags too much with my SEO Softwares....

If you want a desktop I suggest building one yourself because its way more cost effective and you get to choose exactly which components you have. If you want a laptop get one which has a good cpu and decent ram, you may want to check out groupon because they usually have some good deals on laptops.
    Good luck

I second that because this way you can get a better configuration and less expensive.

If you don't know how to build one...

Go with a Gateway DX Series.

I think you can get a quad core, 6 to 8GB of RAM, 500GB HD...

And a "okay" video card that you won't need to upgrade unless you game.

        For $400 + monitor (get a 20 to 22 inch for $100)

Boom....$500 and all the computer you'll ever need.

I notice you linked to a laptop, but people are suggesting a desktop PC. What do you prefer?

A desktop (built yourself or retail bought) will offer you lots more performance at a lower price, but, of course, is not very mobile. In the future, replacement and/or upgrade parts are a lot easier to implement.

A laptop computer nowadays has quite an amount of performance to offer as well, but at a higher price. Naturally, it's a lot more mobile. Replacement/upgrade parts are, in some brands and types, not impossible, but not as easy to implement as with a desktop PC.

In the case of a laptop:
Other than the requirements of SEO tools, please let me know what other uses you have for it, how mobile you require it to be (sit at your desk, move around the house, or take on the road frequently).

In the case of a desktop:
See above, minus the mobility part. As for the suggestions to build one yourself: yes, that is a good idea from a cost/effective perspective, but it is not a good idea if you're not tech) savvy enough or have someone who is, with you. Some retailers allow you to build your own computer on their website, and they'll assemble it for you.

With your preferences, I might be able to give you a suggestion.

    I think that's a good choice.

I also think you should go with your idea of a laptop. Everything in one convenient package that you can grab-and-go.

You may also want to have a look at TigerDirect.com. They have new and refurbished equipment. The refurbished equipment is clearly identified and can offer good pricing.

(I have no interest in TigerDirect other than I have ordered from them before.)

Let us know how it works out for you.

I will look into the gateway DX Series however, I am in need of a laptop, I am currently in between homes, and do not have a stationary place to put a desktop or to constantly access a desktop computer.

So a Laptop recommendation would be welcomed. I am willing to go up in price, if it is really deemed absolutely necessary. Although, I would ideally like to stick around the $500 price mark +/- $200 if possible.

        Danielle,

I am not saying you SHOULD go with TigerDirect. I'm just offering another option if it's a fit.

        Again, good luck.

I do everything with laptops now. I've just been on the road for nearly 3 years, and just got back to Calgary. (saves me updating my profile ) I did have a desktop about 10 years old but it died not long after taking it out of storage. It was nice to have a full sized monitor to go with it, but not a big deal. (The available monitor drivers were old and not compatible with 7 or 8 on the laptops, so it got dropped at the recycling center.)

Now I'm quite used to flipping between programs on a smaller screen. I've read quite a few posts about becoming more productive with 2 or 3 monitors, but I wouldn't expect to save more than about 5 minutes a year that way. As far as I'm concerned, it's a city folk thing

So when the desktop died, I got another laptop to replace it, and back up my first laptop. It's essential for me now to have a back up computer. The strangest, most unlikely things can go wrong with them. I'm in Canada, so some of this will not apply to you. For anyone in Canada, memoryexpress.com consistently had good offers for affordable laptops. They also had the pro version of the OS installed, while bestbuy would only have the home version. I've been buying computer parts from them for years, and highly recommend them. They also have a competitive price guarantee good for a week after your order.

But if bestbuy.com has any stores in your area, or you have time to order online, they had a few that were very close. I was looking for something about $600, and wanted a 17 inch screen. They had a Toshiba that was nearly a match for the one I was looking at, on memoryexpress.

After spending hours looking for what I wanted and comparing models and features and prices and pc site review, blah blah....I ended up ordering a computer from Dell yesterday.

What I had found early in my search was an increase in prices on Win 7 because the demand was up from those not liking Win 8.

BUT - I went on the business side of the dell website and found 4 good desktops with Win 7 Pro - and all were reduced in price.

I didn't need gaming or heavy graphics - just a workhorse for writing and general use. I paid $549 for a Dell with 8 gig RAM, 1 Terrabyte, core i5, with Windows 7 Pro.

I could've gotten something fancier for bragging rights - but this didn't break the bank, is perfect for my needs and I don't have to learn Win 8 :p

      kay

Edit: This is a desktop. I have a good laptop but I'm old school about a desktop when working.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
