Hey folks,

I hate getting sick. It's that time of the season. How do you recover fast from a sickness? I have a cold and asthma.

I've been getting 10-11 hours of sleep and drinking tons of water.

Any tricks that you guys have? My immune system is bad too, I need to touch up on that. If you guys have any tips for a stronger immune system let me know.

I hate missing work and working out .

Thanks.

I have asthma, too. Citrus keeps that down.

For colds - prevention is king. Ascorbic acid (form of Vit C) or Magnesium Ascorbate (sp?) and lots of sunshine - if no sun, a lizard lamp for the rays that make Vit D3 - and if necessary, Vit D3 supplements (last choice if I can't get rays hitting skin).

A zinc supplement or high zinc containing foods every couple of days. Meat -(beef, lamb, pork chicken), Seafood (oysters, crab, lobster), pumpkin seeds - I buy a bag of raw seeds in the bulk section of my local store that sells bulk and just eat a handful now and again.

This stuff will also cure ya........but it's a lot more pleasant to prevent the crap from the get go instead of worrying later how to get rid of it. Right.

I got really ill for about 4 days last week and spent most of the time sleeping.

I would just recommend you pick out a good TV show and start from season 1. Stop watching when you're better

Pfff . . . you're all going to die. Make some money and get a WSO in first if you've any sense, or even a Facebook page (hypochondriacs reunited, sounds good), before you kick the bucket.

That's quite some flatulence problem ya've got there. If you'd keep your roughage more regulated and make sure you're getting more soft roughage than fibrous, you might be able to kick that one.

I'm not going anywhere for awhile. I wasn't supposed to make it out of grade school and I'd say I'm healthier than 99.9% of people my age and NO - I'm not THAT old yet......there are a hella lot of people my age still around so don't go there:rolleyes:.

Lots of us with asthma it seems.

Anyway, what I do is pile the blankets on the bed, enough that I sweat, and sleep it off. I don't know if there's any science behind it, but I seem to get over things faster if I sweat it out and sleep. Of course, drink lots of water. OJ and 7Up are optional in addition to, but not in place of, the water.

I'm like you buddy, Suffering too bad from cold and fever. but its never too bad to check warriorforum

I keep myself busy in fun things to forget about my illness as much as possible because this condition won't let me sleep. Think you're alright (even if you're not) and it does decrease the pain.

    Good luck!

  • When I feel a cold starting to come on, I take at least 3 echinacea daily until it passes. It's not a total cure, but it definitely blunts the effects.

Luckily, I only took one day off. I went to the gym yesterday and my sickness went away! I made sure I didn't get anyone sick by going to the gym late when no one is there lol
