Hello..

Very recently I stumbled upon a very nice "buy button" from a website and the webmaster is using it for many of his websites. Do you think that I can just "steal" it and use it on my website?

Thanks

Update:Guess I don't need to "steal" it as he's offering it for FREE as a giveaway product!!

Have you checked paypal? Because if its a paypal button supplied by paypal.com then they are up for grabs for anyone to use.

    Just an idea.

Or you could stop being cheap and offer the owner a few quid for the right to use the button. Doesn't have to be much, perhaps $5 or $10.

That is a template button with a few tweaks to it. Not that difficult to put together... as long as you have the PSD files to the template. Almost looks like a template I got from Max Rylski.

Chane is right. Most people are using buttons from other people. Who has the original copyright? Nobody knows. If you have seen a button used by multiple people in multiple sites, it's probably safe to use it.

That's presumptuous...multiple people stole some buttons and site badges from my sites and that just meant I had to go after all of them.

In addition, my website (including my buttons) had been registered with the US copyright office some 4 years earlier...meaning that in addition to statutory awards I can also recover attorney fees for the matter.

Now, these poor guys I didn't sue...it was obvious they were clueless, but I could have. You just never know who owns those buttons.

Okay Warriors! How about a little creativity here?

Nice button ebizman, however have you ever considered originality?

Why is it that Internet Marketers are constantly trying to copy each other? (nonetheless without even knowing if what you are copying is GOOD for your business)
Have you considered maybe that what you are copying DOES NOT convert well?

I say, open up your favorite graphics program and design a button that will suit your page colors, design and niche.

In doing so, you will be further 'BRANDING' your product.

Incidentally I had a Pepsi this morning, it sure tastes like Coca-Cola, but man, that can design sure is different! (get my point?)

I got some plr graphics with buy buttons, download now buttons, etc. etc. that I have give-a-way rights to.

If anyone doesn't have some of these for their sites, send me a private message.

I would rather GIVE you something legal for free than for you to have to go steal it from someone else.
