I don't know what Rupert Murdoch's agenda is, but I can relate to how he doesn't accept crap from anyone and evens the score, eg humiliating UK's ex-pm who clearly used him and betrayed their friendship, now going after Eric Schmidt and Google. This is going to be fun:

You may like him but he likes money. There will be a conflict of interests!

A conflict of what interests, lol? I just like watching the drama unfold in the distance from my humble abode.

To me, the revolving ever-younger women make him look like a sad old (but rich) man rather than a mogul.

That, and his "take no crap" approach makes him seem desperate,
like he's fighting on his heels with his back to a wall.

Powerful people are fluid and dynamic, hard only for a moment
when that is what is best for the situation, and then they are right
back to being relaxed and flexible.

Don't get me wrong, I like Wendi Deng-Murdoch. Strong women
are always attractive, and certainly an asset to anyone who is able
to recognize and appreciate their character. But looking at it from
the perspective of the pattern of his life and choices, I have my
doubts as to whether he will stay married to her for any reason other
than the fact that he is too old, too busy, and will probably "never do better"
            as he put it.

I guess it seems to me that if he thought he could do "better" he
would certainly try, and that is one of the biggest reasons why I
see him as a weak fool, and all the bluster in the world can't
            disguise it?

Um....key factor -- she's his masseuse. She's getting good money and he gets those old bones rubbed whenever he damned well wants them rubbed, and that's probably pretty kewl at his age. If he doesn't have anyone he really feels special toward more his own age, I don't see anything wrong with him going for any benefit he can get out of life......not like he's got a long time left, after all. He's got the bucks to enjoy himself, he might as well while he can - can't take it with him and we might only really go around here once. Even with a woman his own age with his money, he can't guarantee she'd be with him for him and not his cash. I don't see anything wrong with someone doing what they want to do as long as they aren't hurting anyone else.....which may be a concern in other areas of his life.

Nothing "wrong" with it, the point is just that he seems more like a rich old man,
    and not a powerful mogul.

He is a rich old man -- a very old one. Perhaps old enough, and facing the last of his life, doesn't really CARE if he's a powerful Mogul figure or not. At some point in years, a person reflects on their life, and some will care more about what they get out of their final times rather than what people think of them during those days.
