I feel bad for Anderson Silva. What happened to him was gruesome and sad, probably a career-ender. It was awful hearing him scream like that.

Yeah dude that was tough to take.

I wish him a healthy recovery and a prosperous future.

I didn't watch it on PPV, but saw a short clip the next day. Nasty stuff.
Ronda Rousy (However you spell it) is a phenomenal athlete...but, man, I sure wouldn't want to have to be around her.

Chris Cyborg would eat her lunch. I have no idea if they are in the same weight class. But Chris Cyborg (What a great name) made Gina Corano look like an amateur.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

I've seen that injury many times, often worse than Silva got it.
It is always sadly amusing to me that so many young people
in the MMA crowd think only about how invincible their
"Muay Thai leg kick" is, and forget that it is very easy to
spike it. For a bunch of people that claim classical martial arts
make you a thoughtless robot, they sure seem to think that
absorbing the kick on your shin must be the only defense.

I have never been a huge fan of Anderson Silva, but yeah I hate
to see any sportfighter get hurt like that. I know they are saying
that he "may" never fight again, but I think it is pretty clear
that he will not. He will never trust his leg to kick like that again,
not without hesitation. If you've seen the interviews and footage
of him at home, he was just never that psychologically strong.

The female fighters are having a major problem: Their sport is
about to go the way of the women's basketball league. What was
it called? I think it's still around, but only their families and the
women themselves know anything about it.

I feel like the drama with Rousy is manufactured, and was probably
Dana's idea. I would bet good money that they are trying to
portray her as a "heel" to drum up the "bad blood" kind of
scenario for fans, in an attempt to bring in more PPVs.

Yeah, Cyborg (Justino), Corano, Tate, Davis... There have been
a lot of great female fighters, certainly much better than when
they first started competing. Sadly, it's not only the general
public that is ignoring them-- even a lot of MMA communities
are not paying attention, and that is very sad.

Hell, I'd bet on Cyborg to beat the crap out of some of
      the men!

(Oh, and she's a featherweight, btw)

And this is why I'd rather practice Judo, Aikido, Kravmaga or Taichi instead of MMA, UFC and/or so forth.

Terrible injury! He was getting hurt badly in the beginning of the fight too. I was surprised they didn't stop it.
