Please - Arrest Me!!!

In Kentucky, a man escaped from jail on Sunday.

On Monday he walked into a hotel and asks them to call police. He wanted to go back to jail where it's warm. Next time he might want to check weather reports before he goes over the wall.

I wondered how on earth homeless people are surviving this weather. Getting yourself arrested might be a good idea as a survival tool.

I was just going to post the same story
We use to have a homeless wino here back in the 70's and 80's.
Every winter he would get himself arrested and spend the winter in county jail.
The cops and judge knew what he was doing and the judge would always give him a sentence that kept him in jail till spring.
His name escapes me now, but when my wife was in the hospital hospice unit in 2002 he was in the next room. I would stop in to visit him on my way to my wifes room and he always had someone there with him. He was very well known in the area and had many friends who would "look out" for him.
We have what's called a code blue here.
If the police see a homeless person on the streets they will bring them to a shelter. There they receive not only a warm bed and meal but winter jackets, gloves, socks, etc. All supplied by people who donate to the shelters.

lol ... at least jail is warm, I guess. The first thing I thought of is the homeless. This cold is unbearable. I'm glad I don't live in an area that stays like this all winter. I hope many of the homeless have found a way to get to a shelter, if available.

It would suck If he got himself locked up for exactly one year, then right back on the street at the beginning of next winter. D'oh!
