Physic geniuses: I need your input on the use of a Parabolic Dishes

Ok, I know they work like sonar, but what I need to know is:
-Can you use it inside a house, point it at another house and hear anything? No, I am not going to eavesdrop on my neighbors.
-A friend of mine said, no, the dish must be outside and be pointed straight at a window within a range of less than 300 feet to hear anything even faintly, and the window must be single paned.
-Yet another fellow said he used one in his apartment and did eavesdrop on his neighbors on the other side. Not a nice thing to do!
-And finally, can it be used while in a moving automobile?

    • Thanks so much for giving me an answer, I am not sure of what you are talking about but PD is available on Amazon. I have read some of the reviews and most are not all that good about the PD's range and capabilities.
  • The idea of a parabiic antenna is to CONCENTRATE something on a target. If you look at the average parabolic antenna, it has a raised object in the center at the focal point. for sound, it would be a mike. Whatever, the idea is to have it in the OPTIMAL place. So the answer is of course not. I mean even if you COULD hear through walls, what about pipes, A/C ducts, maybe insect nests, you would pick THAT up ALSO.

    THAT is why most such antennas are EXPOSED!
