In this case they might actually be right, though. However - I have tried to get into the wrong car before so it's not like it's outrageously wrong even if just a story.

I think, on a lot of forums, people often go to Snopes to get the story and post it. I don't for a minute think Joseph didn't did that and besides, from the point of view of someone drinking their first coffee of the morning, it was quite amusing to imagine, true or not.

They are wrong fairly frequently if you get into the right areas - and according to common knowledge stuff they are usually right, but they don't do a lot of deep search. They're mostly googlers themselves. So if all you want is from word around the web, they hit it. Serious stuff, though, they do save time sometimes in beginning research. Once you get past the light stuff, they no longer know what to do with it.

It's just I cringe when people use them as a reference, because they aren't professional researchers. They're just a husband and wife team who look stuff up a little bit. Some people see them referenced and think they are the be all and end all in authority after seeing them quoted, so I avoid using them as reference. Most actual researchers I know won't reference them either so I was surprised seeing you reference them.

Then again - I share stuff shared with me on facebook without looking it up a lot, too, if I think anyone's interested in seeing the article, so ..............just sayin'
