The Biggest Reason You're Probably Not Making Any Money Still?

A lot of people get into online marketing and despite all of the information that is available on the topic they still have a hard time trying to make money online.

The deepest problem I believe is that to many people focus on "quick fix" businesses and never take the time to actually sit down and build out a business using a business model and goals that actually force you to "work"

WSO's are good but how good are they if you don't even implement what you learn. If all you are doing is buying buying buying WSO's and you are not taking action on the information how do you expect to make money at all?

I've started down the path of trying to figure why so many people fail at IM or online businesses and whats the one thing that holds them back from achieving the type of success that they know that they deserve. The warriorforum and internet marketing in general has given us some of the greatest resources that we will ever need to create the "online" lifestyle but the problem is deep within us.

I've learned that my problem was time management and a lack of a step by step plan. When I got a handle on those two things I began to focus on creating a plan and a "VISION". In creating that vision I knew where I was going so what I did was that I bought only the products that I needed to move me closer to that vision.

You just have to find what it is that holds you back create a plan and "KEEP MOVING FORWARD"

There was a point in time when every single option on the poll list... I was guilty of.

By simply doing the exact opposite of everything I was doing wrong by first learning and understanding the mistakes I was making, and then fixing them, things have certainly changed for the better.

Also, just to clarify, it was "simple" as far as WHAT I needed to do, but it certainly took time, patience, and working smart to correct the mistakes I was making and have made.

My 2 bits of advice to anyone who is still struggling may fall on deaf ears because it is nothing new or refreshing, and they're very common cliches...

1.) Work SMART... not HARD. In my book, this means learning (from the right sources) and then following through with the heart of a successful online business (which in my opinion are communication and marketing). Understanding those 2 things as much as possible can help lead to larger email lists, more traffic, happy customer's, and that "dot-com-lifestyle" everyone is working for.

Spending too much time jumping on the next best thing or busting your butt doing things that won't get you very far these days (such as writing a ton of articles and throwing them up on article directories) will certainly lead you down a path of frustration.

2.) Keep going. Do not quit. An online business can be VERY up and down. Most people throw in the towel once things hit the fan and the income dries up. The one's that succeed in this business are the one's that persevere when things go bad and NEVER get complacent when things go good.

Sorry it's nothing flashy or motivator-speaker-like, but it really does boil down to those 2 things if you wish to succeed with an online or offline business.

      Hope that helps someone.

The road to success isn't comfortable, easy or pretty. The quicker you understand, that you have to work smart and hard the more money and time you will save.

I was reading lately about the "Jonah Complex" I suggest everyone to google that. I believe this is true sometimes people are actually afraid of their own success. That is so weird.

You see your mind hates to do the "uncomfortable" and you have to become uncomfortable now to become "comfortable" later on in life.

Its 5am over here where I live I wanted to sleep late so bad but even the bible says "A little more sleep and a little more slumber and poverty will pounce on you like a thief".

Broke people sleep and live comfortably. Rich people become workaholics now to enjoy life later when the people who want to be comfortable are living paycheck to paycheck because they didn't take action when they had the energy!

Because i always needed a start point of this business .I gathered many books, reports, videos but never studied them .

Some of you have seen KungFu Panda movie where PO asks for start point to learn fighting arts .I never got that start point of IM.

This field needs action not just viewing some other's book or report .

I think for most people it's not knowing what to do, not being able to focus long enough to figure it out, and being to broke to invest consistently to get something going.

Planning. Accountability. Motivation. Focus. A solid plan. Time management. All required.

I used to struggle to get out of bed in the morning and start working because I didn't have an official start time and no one would get me in trouble if I didn't show up on time.

Then I'd sleep late and feel annoyed and unmotivated and not do as much work as soon it was evening time and there was other stuff to do like meeting friends, partying, dating etc.

It was making small changes that solved these quite major problems. To make sure I get out of bed every day at 7am I put my alarm at the other side of my room which forces me to get up and turn it off. Once I'm out of bed it's easier to stay there.

However another problem I used to have was I would get up but then sit down on the sofa and then fall asleep there or sit for ages watching TV. So now I put the coffee table in front of the table to psychically block me from being able to do so and put the remote for the TV out of reach.

Now I go straight to the shower every day. Without these small changes I wouldn't be able to do it so easily.

Amazing how small things like that can change everything and increase productivity, motivation and get me working.

Setting goals was important too. I used to just work on things with little idea as to what I was working towards. No goals to reach. When you do that you've no idea how well you're doing.

Set goals and mini goals. Plan out how you'll reach those goals and measure it regularly to see if you're on track or not. If not see where your plan is going wrong and make changes. My plans adapt frequently.

You have to treat it like a real business and put the hours in. Sacrifice some of your freedom in the beginning and say no to going out partying, meeting women, or whatever other distractions you have when you've got work to do.

Do the work first and only when it's finished do you get to do what you want.

I think it was on ThinkTraffic that I read a post about acting like a pro athlete - i.e. a pro athlete would never miss training because he was tired / hungover / lazy / wanted to watch TV instead. Rain or shine he'd be training. That's how you have to be.

I don't think you have the most important reason on your poll. It's following business models that don't work.

I've been to that place its a dark place. I should have added information overload to the poll because this one is huge. Our minds tend to operate like this if we see something that is "easy" we resonate with. It's like our minds build up a resistance to anything that we consider to be "work".

I spent years in the beginning looking for something that would just print me money on command. I didn't want to work for it. We are a generation of "instant gratification". I was concerned with my lack of action. It seems that all I did was buy buy buy and blame blame blame. One thing I could encourage anybody in life to do to take back control of their lives is this "STOP BLAMING OTHERS FOR YOUR FAILURES".

When you stop doing that you regain your power and your strength! Most people are stuck because of that simple fact. They blame the product not their ability to "Commit To The Process"
You have to be willing to GRIND everyday and GRIND HARD!

Another thing as marketers we like to think about ourselves and that's why your marketing efforts may be failing. To be successful at anything in life you have to "put people first".

The Greatest Basketball Player - Puts His Team First!
A great leader - Puts His Country And People First!
A Great Copywriter Like Sir Gary Halbert - Puts The People Who Will Read His Copy First!

They never think what could I get they thought how could I add "VALUE".

Its a bad place to be unable to take action because day by day you feel your dreams falling apart and the people around you begin to think that you are just crazy or that you might be losing it.

A lot of the times you may be distracting yourself! CUT THE TV AND SOCIAL MEDIA!

I have a question how does not taking action make you feel? Do you feel your dreams failing? Do you feel helpless? I want you to dig deep and ask yourself what do you really want?

Its only when we experience enough pain can we move forward and be relentless in achieving our dreams!

      MINDSET ...my friend.

      People struggle with mindset.

There seems to be a NEVER ENDING "battle" with you and your mind.

More precisely the barriers that you create inside you.

People make things harder than what they are, get stuck, overwhelmed and NEVER take action.

      Why?

      Simple.

Its a side effect of life and our society.

It comes from our society where nobody is willing to take responsibility for their actions.

You are inclined to focus on mistakes, living in the past, planning the future, ask yourself forever what and why something didnt work instead of living the present moment and focusing on what works.

      Don't believe me?

Have a look right here in the main dicussion... look at all the questions that come up minute after minute...

People expect somebody to do the hard work for them.

      How about perfectionism?

The search of perfection that automatically brings to endless procrastination.

We all know that perfection can be an admirable thing, but in the long run, it is extremely self-limiting and will bring you nowhere.

Get over it immediately and pull the trigger!

Stop waiting for your online business(or product) to be perfect before you launch it.

Your business will be evolving forever. Find a criterion other than perfection for launching the business. Instead of perfect, your business is ready to launch after you've completed all of the necessary components.

It wont be perfect(it can't be) but is gonna be good enough to start making money for you.

Start realizing that NOTHING can be perfect in this world.

"Analysis paralysis". People get stuck with this mental barrier of not being able to make a decision. They overthink/over analyze something and get stuck and never take action.

This might be picking one guru's method over another. Or it might be trying to link the main parts of your online business together. Or it could be you have too much information to sift through.

      Other biggest reasons might be;

      - Beliefs and negative thoughts that have been around since your childhood(mindset)
      - Not knowing what you really want and not writing your goals on paper.
      - Wasting time on unproductive activities
      - Not selling anything at all
      - Not testing what is really working
      - Self sabotage and subconscious mind(mindset)
      - Not having the right idea to sell to a market that wants it at an affordable price
      - Quit after the first failures cause people don't accept failure as a learning experience and not understand that FAILURE is absolutely acceptable if you want to be successful. You just have to learn from your mistakes and take action as soon as you can.
      - Not understanding that you MUST experience failure in order to become successful
      - Not investing ANY money in traffic
      - Easily influenced by the opinions of others
      - Thinking to make millions with no knowledge, skills

The primary reason most people are not making money is that they are not MAKING it.

They are opening their pockets and WAITING for it.

"Free report join my list!" (wait)

"Affiliate product go buy this!" (wait)

    "CPA Offer sign up!" (wait)

    "But I don't understand."

If you build a better mousetrap, the world will not make a beaten path to your door.

We live in a different world than we used to. Everyone is inundated at all times with this thing or that thing or the other thing, and they're all competing for your attention and your approval and your money.

Your stuff has to be worth it.

And, in general, people know your stuff is worth it because you tell them it is. And you explain why. They know you're full of crap and just want their money. They just want something they can tell their friends (or their wife) when people ask "why did you buy this?"

You have to go out and TELL THEM why. You can't just wait. That isn't going to work. You have to get your little booty out the door and into the streets with the people who have money, and explain to them precisely WHY they should give it to you.

Failure to take action is a big one for me

I have recently built a membership site that teaches people a very simple method to follow and they can make money...and I prove it to them in my coaching videos

I have just over 300 members and the people that are taking action are making a profit

Sadly I also have over 200 people that have paid for the course and only logged in once...they've never used the content as far as I can tell

no matter how good the system, or the content you can't make people take action

I think the biggest thing that holds most 'newbies' back is fear of failure.

Our subconscious minds tell us to avoid things that may lead to pain or discomfort.

To most people (except Ranulph Fiennes), the unknown represents pain and discomfort.

Running an Internet business is an unknown, so we avoid it.

And an easy way to avoid it while conning ourselves that we are taking action is 'shiny object syndrome' - always flitting from one 'opportunity' to another.

The only way to break out of this is to focus totally on one small step into the unknown at a time.

      E.g. Get a domain - Check
      Get web hosting - Check
      Get WordPress - Check
      Etc

Each step on its own is not very scary and its achievement builds confidence for the next.

This 'chunking' approach worked for me and for many of my students.

It's fear of failure but also fear of success and doing something new to achieve it. Fear of the unknown, which ever way it goes. If you have a job that pays ok then you also have fear of bursting that bubble, a bubble it is. A Safe one with social interactions and familiarity, regular patterns and expectations. To do a weeks work online not knowing that you are going to get paid or not is a lot different than going to a regular job and having a 99.9 percent chance of getting a paycheck (unless the company suddenly goes bankrupt)

For a lot of people, though they say they hate their job and would like out, they do not always hate it as much as they say they do, some will miss it. so, people with reasonably well paid jobs and dreams of online earning often go less enthusiastically in learning online methods, they pick and choose, say, naw, dont like that, not comfortable with it, what else. Simply because they can, they have their job to fall back on. they just like the idea of it and talking about it.

That's why many Hard Drives are full of disguarded WSO's, software and courses.

Don't know if this has been said: There is also the fact that you may have some success and earn a chunk of change and think Yeahhh, I made it. Only for something to change online like the Google algo changes wiping out thier sites or, a site closes that they were earning from. Suddenly the rug is pulled. No more money coming in.

That's why I think that at any one time you should have 3-4 different earning methods running and earning simultaneously. Then if one goes down you can always replace it.

Taking the online earnings step is frighting, its the unknown and not to be taken halfheartedly or lightly. You need to be dedicated and take constant action. Not half baked. Not to say that after a while you cant step back a little and reap the rewards though as a result of your intense work but you gotta do the work to get there.

True, if you have a job, then labor intensive strategies, (which most are) get binned!

After all if you are working hard in a job, and want to get rich online, then the last thing you want is to work at home until 2am.

Then risk making a mistake at work, because lack of sleep eventually catches up with you!

If you are time poor, and have an income, then naturally shiny objects are very appealing. After all if l send this Russian Hacker, my $50, l will have a printing press!

          Yeah, right!

They will have a printing press, although they still had to do some effort creating the product!

And most likely slept near their computer for 5 years, until their socialmedia lists took off, so they could show their Clickbank earnings, to sucker the middle class in!

The high end flyer business l am involved with now, should produce at least $35k a year. But it is still a good idea to diversify a little so when sales of one niche are down, the other will compensate.

Although l am looking into other areas as well.

This is after 6 years online!

The only reason l am starting to succeed now, is l burn all bridges, and refuse to stop trying. Although there have been a few times, when it looked hopeless!

Keep going no matter what, and success is inevitable!:p

None of those options apply to me.

The reason I'm not making money now is two fold.

            1) My old business died because the Google crackdown on article directories
shut down my main traffic generation source and my income died.

            2) My new business (out of the IM make money niche) just started in January
so it's just too early. I still have a lot of work to do before I start seeing an
income. Mostly I need to somehow get this site to move up the SERPs. Once I
figure that out, I'll be fine.

I put all my eggs in one basket and when that basket blew up, my whole

There is a lesson to be learned from that.

              2) My new business (out of the IM make money niche) just started in January

Not to mention a lot of egg on face :-)

Yep, do 3 or 4 different things, make sure they are all earning and then you have a relatively safe bubble to sit in. Adapt and survive if you can. There are other ways to generate traffic of course. Relying on google these days is a definite No though!

i think it's the fear of being told you can only make big fast money selling slimey, scamming M.M.O. info. and coaching. 99% do.

I'm going to talk about 2 reasons

1- They get all excited they've bought this product that's going to show them from A-Z how to make $10,000 a month It's going to be terrific the answer to their dreams it's 8 CD'S and 10 DVD's.

One day it's delivered to their house. And they never even open the damn thing.

2- They've tried, they've actually tried and put in the work. They've learned about list building ,SEO , 2 checkout , Aweber , email marketing the whole thing. And they haven't been a success.

They quit. But what they don't realize is how close they were to success. They have to learn from their failures learn from all the mistakes and eventually they'll succeed.

I learned this when doing CPA marketing. Its like you could literally be one campaign or one tweak away from tons of money, but some just give up to soon.

Step 1 to making any or more money is reclaiming our natural assets to gain more vitality, confidence, and clarity.

The problem is not a lack of time because people working longer hours are generally less productive, according to a recent article in The Economist. And people working fewer hours tend to make more money.

Fatigue, fear, and confusion are making us trudge through life instead of thrive.

I would contend that the reasons people give for not making money are, in many cases, not the real reasons. They may think they are, but if they really knew what was holding them back why wouldn't they do something about it and start making money?

The reason I didn't receive the payment from a particular affiliate network is because they had my former address, not my present one, so mailed it to the wrong place. That would be 100% my fault, but I'll blame the person reading this right now.

Or as Frank Kern has said, 92% try once and give up, and the other 6%, try a few times then give up!

Only 2% refuse to give in, and not surprisingly that 2% eventually find something online that actually works!

Most things online don't work, and require hard work, as well as being knocked by your friends, etc, to realise that; but a small handful of things do work, and can change your life in a dramatically positive way!

I don't get people that only want to make money so they can relax and lay on the beach.

Really? Is that all you want to do in life?

Business is so much more fun, adventurous, exciting and intellectually stimulating than lounging around. Right now there are more tools to start your own business than ever existed in history.

"Nah, I just want to watch TV."

    I don't get this thinking.

What! That is one of the main things that keeps me going, is seeing myself sitting under a palm tree, watching the ocean, and thinking what a Smart*** l am!

Then after a few days crank up my Laptop, to write a motivational article here, and do some more work!

But l think that l can grasp where you are coming from, l wouldn't want to sit around doing nothing, forever, Retires do that!

Time can be your best friend or your worst enemy!

Or someone who has lost his job, would rather sit around watching sport on tv, than get online!

Someone else gets into action, and 5 years later, not much difference.

      7 years later....

Person A, is still sitting around, but he is an expert on Cricket scores tallys!

      And drinking beer!!!

Person B, is making a full wage online, is in a relationship, and is headed for wealth!

Person A, may be p*** about person B,s success, and eventual wealth, but they both had the same opportunities!

And eventhough person B, went through failure, and years of little to no results, he was still learning about what doesn't work or what he doesn't want to do.

I think that is something most so called friends, etc don't get, you do learn while you fail!

And if you fail enough times, then you find something that works!

I can understand someone slacking off at the beach when he or she has made it, but l don't get someone who, doesn't try, or stay with it for as long as it takes!

Its funny because every time I come back to this post I realize that a lot of people who are trying to start online businesses hardly ever struggle with the actual building of the business what most of them struggle with is having the discipline that is needed to actually begin building their business from the ground up.

Something that I failed to realize early in my internet career and something that would have saved me lots of time and money was understanding that there is no easy way to make money online. The thing is there are a lot of high quality products out there that really teach you how to build a legit online business its just that a lot of the people buy these programs never stick to them long enough to see them really take off and begin generating a profit for them.

Learn to delay your urge for instant riches and understand that you will have to work and implement what you learn to actually make money. Push button riches simply don't exist period.

A good product that actually helped me a lot with my time management skills was a product by Robert Plank known as Time Management On Crack. Check it out on his blog.
