Terrifying Drives for Brave Road-Trippers | Conde Nast Traveler

I've done California HWY 1 (both north and southbound) and it was most interesting.

It was worth clicking on that link just to see this headline in the right-hand column:

Gay Russian Artist Responds to Racist 'Black Woman' Chair with NFSW Image

Surely an early contender for best headline of the year.

Been over #1 and 3. They're not as bad as some of the 4WD trails I've been on. Try that road up Antero sometime, that's a real thrill. The road up to Feather lakes in Idaho is, too - especially when a dumb blond drives right down the road past the pull off and you have to back all the way down the one lane road because she's too stupid to know what to do. People were all over that mountain screaming at her. LMAO. She almost put a few cars over the edge, and the drop is not pretty.

Looking at those roads - and dropoffs - made me want to take a walk.

I saw that earlier and all I can say is no thanks, not going there. If we go for a drive, it should be relaxing.

LMAO - I've done that before. I was going over a pass in Jefferson County, Colorado and it turned from nice paved road into one lane dirt with a several thousand drop on one side. We got out on that and I told my guy to stop the car and let me out. He asked if I needed to drive so I tried that. I ended up getting out of the car with the dog and walking to where the road widened out again. LMAO. Cried first time up a mountain road in the Swiss Alps, too, although I didn't do any really extreme driving while I was in EU.
